trileptal

Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
666129 tn?1225302040 I have been on it for only 5 months. I have had no lasting problems so far. It has completely stopped my seizures. I have TLE. Yes I was also told the same thing about being on it forever... I don't know how long the drug has been out in the US. Guess we need to do some research. Stay in touch.
Avatar n tn The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
1011826 tn?1274492712 Anyone had any withdrawal side effects relating to Trileptal? Any suggestions in dealing with it? Anyone who has dealt with the same thing? My symptoms are that I am having horrible anxiety, insomnia and irritability since reducing my dosage of Trileptal this week. Backstory: I am switching from Trileptal to Lamictal over a long period of time.
Avatar n tn currently 6ml in the a.m. and 8ml in the p.m. (the concentration is 300mg/5ml.) About 2 weeks ago, his dose of Trileptal was increased from 6ml twice a day to the present dosage (because he was still having some mild break-through seizures). Around the same time, his teacher has mentioned that he is not "listening" well to her directions, and sometimes she has to re-explain her directions to him.
Avatar m tn I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.
Avatar m tn A friend of mine gets his Depakote from there it is so much cheaper, Trileptal I think in generic was $43 for 100 (150mg) generics. Check it out, they will tell you who makes it and what country, most are from Canada. PS.I know this stream is not really for this forum, but knowing where to get safe and cheap medicine is relevant for us all.
Avatar f tn I had very severe side effects w/Trileptal. I have been on this drug for about 1 year. In August, I was rushed to the ER with severe dizziness and headache (missed my trip to Hawaii!!!). Neutremia was discovered at this time. I have been going to doctors since trying to find the cause. My neurologist found the problem yesterday...yes, it is Trileptal. Side effects I have had recently are neutremia, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, headache....seeing my psych doc next week.

I am withdrawing, on the weekend I am not going to take any. I am just going to take the Klonopin or the xanax ER I have the nerontin maybe that will help...
1108262 tn?1273179266 t control, one so badly I ended up in an emergency room with a neurologist questioning if the Trileptal was causing the problem. After getting a new psych doctor and a therapist, we all decided to work together to get me off of Trileptal, as the pdoc felt it had not really helped me, and the therapist helped me deal with the depression and anxiety as well. Pdoc also was worried about the hyponatremia and "twitches".
Avatar f tn I just started taking oxcarbazepine 9 days ago and I built up to 300 mg,no high not even close. Not like with other drugs like oxycontin, were with in 30 min you get a buzz.I guess you have to take higher doses if thats were you want to go,but I dont know.
Avatar m tn My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????
Avatar f tn I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.
Avatar m tn I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass (and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine. Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they will know how to follow up.
1212999 tn?1272305203 I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?
Avatar m tn My brother is in bad shape in St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. He is on Tegretol and because of major diareaha and he wants to be put on Lyrica! Any thoughts please?
Avatar n tn My son just turned 4 in June--seizures started in March w/a grand mal. He's now on trileptal--unsure if we should go to zonogran. He's been have short seizures - yesterday 9 which was tyhe most--since he's been on that med. He's had seizure free days but it's unbelievable how he'll just short out!! I don't know what to do - he has a bad temper @ times from the meds OR the seizures--I'm afraid the Zonogram may make him worse????
471949 tn?1236904026 Hi JKJ, I have a similar case of frontal lobe epilepsy with similar pattern of seizures occurring only during sleep, a male patient, 14 years of age, who has been on oxcarbazepine i.e Trileptal ( oxrate here in India) for the last few months and we did observe disturbances in his memory. The episodes of memory disturbances increased as we increased the dose, but it wasn’t so worse as in the first instance. We already tried Tegretol (carbamazepine) for him and it didn’t work.
1100992 tn?1262357216 I take 1400mg a day of the tegretol retard slow release. The side effects were mostly in the beginning - drowsiness was the hardest, but tolerable. The best thing to do is tirate the dose up slowly. Now I have no side effects at all from the tablets. It did a very good job at managing symptoms for about 5 years or so and then failed to hold back a manic episode that occured last year triggered by a job that required irregular night shifts. I needed the extra help of seroquel with that one.
Avatar m tn My son just started licking his fingers constantly. It appears to be some kind of habit. It has been thought by his pediatrician that he has OCD. However, we have not taken him to a specialist yet on the OCD behavior. After we asked our son about his finger licking, he said that he couldn't stop. He has suffered from two seizures in the past two years that were 15 months apart and hasn't suffered from one since April 2012. He has had a CT Scan and a EEG.
Avatar m tn My neurologist agreed to recommend Trileptal, but says I am being unrealistic to think I can get off Gabapentin in addition to Tegretol, as I am still experiencing pain using both, and higher doses really affect me in various ways. Since I am a Vet and going through the Veterans Administration, he said that the Trileptol needs to be approved by the pharmacy. If it is not approved, I won't be able to get it.
645390 tn?1338555377 It is possible that Trileptal might have been suppressing some spasticity in you leg. Trileptal is an anti seizure medication that inhibits sodium channel function. Are you taking Zanaflex or Baclofen? They are used to control spasticity resulting from spinal or supra-spinal muscle activation. If not, you may benefit from replacing the higher cost Oxcarbazepine with with Baclofen which is a GABA derived drug with a lower cost and is more specific to spasticity.
Avatar n tn t know what they specifically treat in bipolar disorder, but if it works similar to antipsychotics in the disorder, it would probably be better to switch to an anticonvulsant rather than continue taking an antipsychotic, provided it works for you. Prolonged usage of antipsychotics can have permanent side effects, but not always.
Avatar n tn I also experienced aches and pains along with body tremors. You should speak to your doctor about perhaps clonazepam or some kind of medication to ease you through this time. It can be done. What medication will you be taking in place of trileptal? if any?
