Trileptal for neuropathy

Common Questions and Answers about Trileptal for neuropathy

trileptal

Avatar f tn The elavil, topamax, trileptal and IV treatments worked for a time, but the neuropathy seems to have broken through these drugs. Since stress seems to be a trigger (only during a flare up, I can deal with stress and life in a remission) my neurologist wants to try buspar, but ... I seem to think that I had a bad experience with that drug, but it was in the beginning of all of this ... can't remember the specifics. I don't wanna mess around with this. It gets very bad.
1108262 tn?1273179266 DOES ANY ONE TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR BIPOLAR ??? IF SO HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING IT??
5466288 tn?1410485185 There are many medications that can help for nerve pain. It just depends on which works for you. There is Lyrica, Neurotin, Tegretol, and Trileptal to name a few. There are many conditions which cause PN some Neurological some not.
Avatar f tn t deal with. BUT, for the last 2 months I have had episodes of a electic jolt through my head, with heaviness, then a feeling of nervousness, then comes along server fatigue that I have to sleep, even if I didn't think I had to. I just fall asleep. It is like body/mind went haywire and exhausted itself. These episode are anywhere from 2-10 minutes long. They come out of nowhere, I don't know it is coming. My Neuro put me on Zoloft and Clonazapam. Anyone else ever feel this?
Avatar m tn Thanks for your info on how Trileptal works for Tregeminal Neuralgia. I would be interested to see how it works with other people as well, in place of Carbamazapine and Gabapentin so I have some ammunition when I see my neurologist. I don't think Gabapentin is doing much if anything for me, I am currently taking 2700 mg per day in addition to Carbamazapine.
233622 tn?1279334905 Though it worked at first, I eventually needed too high a dose, so, my gp put me on lyrica which was created for diabetic neuropathy. It works, it takes a while for it to build up in your system tho, so that it works. I've not taken any for a bit, now, as the pain has been tolerable, and I don't want to not be aware of it while I'm complaining to docs about wanting more tests, LOL. I am on no seizure meds, as they mysteriously disappeared.
Avatar f tn I have been on a high dose of Lyrica for almost 2 years and have gained 30 lbs. Way too much for someone my height. A friend said she took Zonegran for nerve pain and it helped her tremendously. My c ondition now is post herpetic neuraglia left over from shingles in the top of my head, forehead, eyebrow and left eye. have anyone tried Zonegran for post herpetic nueraglia (PHN) and did it help. The Lyrica is now affecting my eyes so I am desperate to get off it.
Avatar f tn Is anyone on here taking Trileptal for bipolar? Any comments or results?
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar n tn I did feel like I was getting a little pain relief while on the Trileptal. Just hoping Tegretol works for me. Want to get out of this constant pain so I can get back to doing the everyday things I used to enjoy.
Avatar f tn After only a week of being on this medication for the stabbing pain behind my right eye I feel horrible do the side effects eventually get better or should I stop taking it
666129 tn?1225302040 I have been on it for only 5 months. I have had no lasting problems so far. It has completely stopped my seizures. I have TLE. Yes I was also told the same thing about being on it forever... I don't know how long the drug has been out in the US. Guess we need to do some research. Stay in touch.
1011826 tn?1274492712 After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!
Avatar m tn Hi, I have been taking Trileptal for 8 years now and have done great with it. I would like to be pregnant in a couple of years and was wondering if anyone has been pregnant while taking the drug. My doctors are insisting that I change over to Lamictil so that my pregnancy will be safer. Any advice anyone??
Avatar m tn You may want to post this on Neurology forum if you are using Trileptal for seizure disorder or using it off-label for anxiety, depression or Bipolar Disorder. http://www.medhelp.
2030686 tn?1351688548 m on in the last 3 months is zofran for nausea and they raised my trileptal from 300mg to 600mg when I had the seizure. Most of these symptoms can be associated with the Peg/Riba (including neuropathy ) I just didn't know if this shoulder pain could be a delayed pain from the injury. After the treatment we are going to evaluate and figure out how to treat the back pain, but we wanted to get the hcv taken care of first.
Avatar f tn what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?
645390 tn?1338555377 He told me to take the Trileptal 2 x per day and see if that helps. He said it is a pill for nerve pain and lets try increasing the dose. I am to call back either way tomorrow and let them know if it is better. I told the PA about my PCP thinking it has been shingles when this has happened in the past, but shingles never happened. I asked her what it is, she doesn't know, but said she has heard this complaint in the past by other patients. So, does it matter what the source of the pain is?
667078 tn?1316000935 I have neuropathy and am going on Lyrica or Trileptal. It is not MS but it is painful. My inflamed lymph nodes are pressing on nerves. My neck is sore, my back is sore. It hurts when I breath. So people with neuropathy not related to MS can be in plenty of pain. I just thought of peripheral neuropathy. The doctor wants to send me to hospice but I am not ready.
Avatar m tn I am taking tablets for my minor neural problem for the past 4 years, The tablets i am consuming are Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) -300mg and Levetiracetam (keppra) -250mg. Now I am looking for a tablet which should have both of this content in the same. I feel guilty that I am taking more tablets and my health condition is improved now. so I planned to reduce my tablet dosage. so I look over this- i.e.
Avatar f tn I am a 53 yr old female.I have been suffering with neuropathy for about 13 yrs. One dr first diagnosed me with CIDP. My new doctor does not agree because I don't have any signs of weakness in my extremities. My symptoms are feelings similar to what you'd feel when someone scratches their nails down a chalkboard. They started in my left foot and shot up that leg. It has spread up my torso, head, face, and right extremities.
359574 tn?1328360424 I am finishing my week of no medication for my TN after tapering off the Trileptal, and my neuro-opthalmalogist wants to start me on Lyrica. I am very concerned about gaining weight on it (if my insurance company even approves it.) I have been very carefully following WW and have lost 35 pounds since August. The Lyrica site says something like 10-16% of people do gain, so I wonder if board members have been experiencing this.

1212999 tn?1272305203 I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?
Avatar m tn I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass (and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine. Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they will know how to follow up.
Avatar m tn My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????
Avatar f tn I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.
2047903 tn?1330187549 I'm wondering if anyone else has numb fingertips as a side effect from Trileptal...I am currently taking 600 mg. I'm also being worked up for MS, so I don't know if this is from the drug I take for TN or from some other cause?? Thanks.
