Trileptal for nerve damage

Common Questions and Answers about Trileptal for nerve damage

trileptal

Avatar f tn It depends on if you have nerve or muscle pain or both. Plus many of us have issues besides MS. I for example have MS and Cancer. I also use Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation and Therapeutic Dressage (horse back riding) for pain control. A lot of my pain is made worse by a weak core and stress. I have to keep my core strong, stretch, and use mindfulness to keep the stress down.
728313 tn?1260459629 The long term side effect associated with taking Trileptal is liver damage. It must be monitored and a blood panel must be taken on a regular basis to make sure your liver is OK. I don't think 5 days would cause liver damage though (since the damage is associated with a long term build up in your system). Are you pregnant? Trileptal should not be taken if you're pregnant. Other than that, you should feel normal after a couple days of stopping the medication.
Avatar n tn Trileptal can be very effective against nerve pain for some people with MS (and people with nerve pain from other causes as well). The fact that your symptoms returned when you were weaned off the drug is a good sign that it's working for what ails you. I'm glad it is still being prescribed for you. If you feel comfortable sharing, has the Trileptal helped symptoms in addition to pain for you? I also am very curious to know what you mean by your LP was only 2/3 conclusive.
Avatar m tn The other process is nerve damage with nerve damage the symptoms are permanent. I have a lot of nerve damage because I have Primary Progressive MS and have had it since I was 2 am 51. My muscle spasms go from my neck down into my right hand. I have them every day. I also have electrical zaps in my left foot and pain at different times due to how much I walk or stand. I can't stand to hold anything out of the freezer I also can't touch things that came out of the oven.
Avatar f tn I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist? Is it possible that this face numbness/tingling sensations are symptoms of MS? FYI I am a 33 yr old female.
359574 tn?1328360424 I am finishing my week of no medication for my TN after tapering off the Trileptal, and my neuro-opthalmalogist wants to start me on Lyrica. I am very concerned about gaining weight on it (if my insurance company even approves it.) I have been very carefully following WW and have lost 35 pounds since August. The Lyrica site says something like 10-16% of people do gain, so I wonder if board members have been experiencing this.
1108262 tn?1273179266 DOES ANY ONE TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR BIPOLAR ??? IF SO HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING IT??
654901 tn?1293671265 sounds like your bones trying to get used to being back to normal and some nerve damage.
645390 tn?1338555377 He told me to take the Trileptal 2 x per day and see if that helps. He said it is a pill for nerve pain and lets try increasing the dose. I am to call back either way tomorrow and let them know if it is better. I told the PA about my PCP thinking it has been shingles when this has happened in the past, but shingles never happened. I asked her what it is, she doesn't know, but said she has heard this complaint in the past by other patients. So, does it matter what the source of the pain is?
645390 tn?1338555377 Thank you SO much for your response. I appreciate you looking up the med for me...The sensation is better now, so that is good. Too many wierd things lately...
Avatar f tn She takes cymbalta for nerve damage and pain and it helps with a number of things you listed vibrations vertigo etc, is also a anti depressant and it gives you energy. She is also taking neurontin for nerve pain as well as vicodin when it gets really bad. I hope this is some use to you.
Avatar f tn I had a test done with electrodes attached to my body and there is definite nerve damage more predominant in the left side of my body. My symptoms seem to have a pattern of flare ups and remissions that last for months. When I am in a remission, I feel healthy and normal. When my condition flares up I experience bruising for no apparent reason (ITP), arthritis (fingers, tennis elbow, and knee trouble) I have IBS, vertigo, and I get sick easily.
Avatar m tn t travel along the traditional path of the trigeminal nerve but the treatment is the same. I took Trileptal for my face pain until I had an allergic reaction. It did wonders. There are other drugs available too.
Avatar n tn ll need a physician for prednisone, which is sometimes used for VERY SHORT PERIODS. 40 mg in divided doses for two days will usually do the trick. Then another two days of 10mg and two days of 5 mg. Avoid long car rides and use a foam cushion under your butt. Definitive diagnosis is to apply axial traction while having symptoms. If they diminish, you've nailed the problem. An MRI is definitive, but not necessary. Your symptoms identify the dermatome.
Avatar f tn nerve conduction was fine in lower legs/shin but i had reduced conduction (no bell curve at all) in upper legs/thigh. what does this mean? do i have nerve damage? and from what? what does this mean? could i have reduced conduction if my sciatic nerve is irritated? doctor also did the voodoo test. i heard static in my lower legs when i applied my muscles. i didn't hear any static in my upper legs. thanks.
Avatar f tn This is a common complaint that is often attributed to nerves regenerating over time. Unfortunately, due to invasive surgery, tissue and nerve damage and especially if you had radiation therapy the discomfort could last for a long period of time. If your pain is constant I think you should be seen in a Pain Center, because there are definitely treatments for it.
Avatar n tn Hello Kay I reply regarding your question is there a treatment for nerve pain. Well at the moment i too am suffering nerve damage down my right hand side it starts in my buttock and spreads down my leg. I am currently under pain management and have been since this problem occurred. They prescribed me gabapentin 300mg 1, 3xa day, then increase the medication to 2 3x a day. I am now taking 3 3x a day they are not working for me.
Avatar n tn So, you can have sex?... you just don't feel anything when you're having sex? I know that circulatory problems can cause a lack of sensation because I had a boyfriend who had both erectile and sensation problems due to poor circulation in the pelvic/ groin area. But, I just don't see excessive or long term masturbation being the cause for the kind of nerve damage that you're suggesting. I suppose anything is possible, though. You might want to consult a physician for this.
Avatar m tn It is almost like a numb like feeling maybe a slight tingling. ...but it comes and goes. Could I have caused nerve damage to the area? and if so would the pain come and go as it seems to be doing on a daily basis. Sometimes it appears to get red and others it just looks like the rest of my skin. I also noticed on both corners of my mouth I have what appears to be angular chelitis.... this has been present for about 10 weeks.
Avatar f tn hi my cat has nerve damage in his jaw how long can he go with only eating a tiny bit of food an water he was on a drip for 2 days but now is off the drip an home with me
Avatar f tn Chronic uncontrolled diabetes can cause peripheral nerve damage and symptoms of loss of sensation, altered sensation like tingling, numbness, paresthesia or motor loss of function. You need to be evaluated for nerve damage, pressure on nerves, pinched or entrapped nerves. Sometimes chronic vitamin b complex deficiency particularly B12 can cause peripheral neuropathy. Consult a neurologist for evaluation and appropriate management. Wishing you all the best.
Avatar m tn I havent had an erection in 4 days, and no longer have control of the upper half of my penis, I suspect its from nerve damage ive done to sensory nerves. Can these nerves regenerate in time? If so how long?
1504101 tn?1299155264 There is one spot on my incision (6th steri-strip from the left), that if I barely touch it hurts ~really~ bad, is the nerve damage? I know that during surgery things can get stretched, or cut...this is the only spot that is really painful..just wondering.
Avatar f tn Has anyone here experienced nerve damage from long term tramadol/opiate use? I have read that this is possible. I am having tingling pain in my shoulder blades and soreness down my spine. Any experiences??
