trileptal

Avatar f tn Ok so, I have been taking the's meds for like 2 months now. I am taking 150 mg of Zoloft and 1800 mg of Trileptal daily. I have been very emotional, like it's that time of the month but it's not, for the last week and for like 2 days now, just randomly I smell weird as ****... Like I was warming up some pizza rolls and it smelled like sweaty day old gym clothes and then I heated up something else and it smelled like day old pissy clothes... Is this normal??
Avatar f tn He was prescribed Dylantin which was switched to Keppra. His neurologist recently added Trileptal to balance his levels because he was having seizures so often. His therapist also prescribed him Celexal and Elavil for depression medication due to bipolar disorder. Now it seems that the 2 anti-depressants have a side effect of seizures, which causes him to seize more than usual. Should the 4 meds be mixed, Keppra, Celexa, Elavil and Trileptal?
Avatar m tn Being female -- I can't answer your question about ED. I do know that I tried gabapentin -- didn't work, Tegretol (Carbamezepine) didn't work. But Trileptal worked well. It DID cause nausea and drowsiness. The pain doc said to take it a half-hour to an hour before eating and that resolve the nausea. He also advised taking a No-Doz (equal to 1 cup of coffee) along with the daytime doses -- and that took care of most of the drowsiness.
Avatar m tn HI, was on trileptal for seizure control. but it lowered my sodium, and also I had a seizure on it. so its been two weeks since I stopped the the dose completely. I still get lots of anxiety. Not sure if its due to weaning or not. I was taken from 1050 mg a day to 0 in 4-6 weeks.
1108262 tn?1273179266 DOES ANY ONE TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR BIPOLAR ??? IF SO HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING IT??
20873519 tn?1556336271 Can you have normal sodium levels and still have addisons disease?
Avatar n tn We are going to the endocrinologist in 2 weeks for the annual checkup and to retest the hormone levels etc. Her brain is over active at night and she's on Lunesta as needed which seems to be every night. So in the meantime, are there brain related scans we can try to rule out or narrow down the part of the brain that is malfunctioning or over-excited? Thank you...I don't know where to go with this. I appreciate your suggestions and expertise.
Avatar f tn Drinking lots of water, and diarrhea can cause low sodium levels, and if you're not working with an Endocrinologist on the cause....you should be. There are several causes and an Endo can best determine what the cause is. Diuretics can also cause this along with problems with the adrenal glands which may not be detected in bloodwork. Hope this helps and best wishes!
Avatar m tn I suffer from constant pain - pain specialists here have tried injections - burning the nerve, botox and every possible drug - Lyrica, indomethacin, neurontin, dilantin, elavil - opiates make it worse (trileptal was the only one that helped but lowered my sodium to 118 within 48 hours at just 300 mgs a day) 3 neurologists have suggested just living life out on klonopin but i refuse (high gaba covers the pain - ironic - depakote and tomomax make it worse.
Avatar n tn I have tried tripletal and now sodium valproate.
1485372 tn?1359545131 When I had severe low sodium levels I was placed on fluid restriction. No more than 24 oz of liquid per day. It was terrible but it worked and I.lived that way for 7 yrs until they found what caused it.
Avatar f tn how much sodium should be consumed a day while on depakote er? I take 250mg twice a day. morning and night. I don't want to have any issues with my sodium levels and this medication so I'm just wondering because I can't find the answer to this anywhere. also, will staying hydrated and drinking water help with keeping my sodium levels under control? how much should I drink?
Avatar n tn He spent the last 3 years fighting outbursts which included throwing things, hitting others, screaming, crying, and not being able to cope with things he didnt like the answer to. He started Trileptal in August and we saw huge improvement. but 2 months ago the doc added Guanfacine and Clonidine to help. then things became bad again. And guanfacine is not easy to come off of. We lately we have had outburts like previous to trileptal. and so he has presrcibed the Risperal.
Avatar f tn Yes low sodium levels can be dangerous, have you tried drinking some sport drinks? http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C549291.
Avatar f tn ve been taking Trileptal 300mg and Lexapro 10mg for over six years now and I did well for a while but about seven months ago started loosing my grip on the situation again. Please reply!
233622 tn?1279334905 Apparently my last neurologist over-dosed my on both Tegretol and Neurontin and I am currently being weaned off of both and they are trying small doses of Lyrica (which I had horrible side effects with after taking 5- 75mg doses...not a large amount). What I would like to know is that if I am having side effects from the Tegretol, why would they now try this Trilepital? For you it looks like the cat's meow so to speak honey!
63984 tn?1385437939 A sodium level of 115 is very low and is often a marker of decompensated heart failure from volume overload. Very low sodium levels can lead to confusion, altered mental status, seizures, and even death, but these things happen more often in patients who have an acute drop in their sodium level (i.e., their level was normal 24 hours earlier).
704458 tn?1236841243 c o m and there they have a daily plate section you fill in what you eat and drink, they work out the calories and the protein, carbs, sugar, fibre, cholesterol and sodium levels - I have been shocked to see that for instance: 2 slices of white bread a little light flora spread ketchup 2 pancakes 1 medium baked potatoe 3oz cheese half tin baked beans Takes me to: 151.47% of my daily allowance of sodium 100.8% of my daily allowance of carbs 101.32 % of my daily allowance of protein. WOW....
Avatar f tn Just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced swollen glands and itchy eyes when taking trileptal? I've only been on it now for 3wks and am currently on 75mg along with 375mg of Keppra twice daily. I don't have a rash but am wondering if this is just a cold or side effect from meds. I called the nurse yesterday at docs office they suggested being checked out by PMD, any suggestions? I dont have a fever or any other symptoms? Thanks for the feedback.
2015036 tn?1332997788 Hi, Tammy, I'm no stranger to TN, and it's rearing it's ugly head again, lately. I take a combination of Gabapentin, and Trileptal (a kin to Tegritol). Trileptal makes me dizzy, but if I ramp up very slowly, it becomes tolerable. So, I start with 300 mg each of G and T at bedtime, for three days. Then, I add the same doses in the morning, so that my morning and evening doses are 12 hours apart. I do this for three days, and then add a noon dose if necessary.
Avatar m tn Is it logical that I am now feeling over fatigued because of being on a fluid restricted intake because of low sodium readings and trileptal. 127 reading. Senior category age wise.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm new to the sight but have been doing research on Trileptal and MS. I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist?
Avatar f tn Any surgery is scary and you need to find the best neurosurgeon with LOTS of experience helping TN patients. You need to ask the tough questions -- what's the best and the worst scenario? What are the side effects? How many TN procedures has this surgeon performed? MRIs are notorious for not showing blood vessels, but Dr. Janeta (Pittsburgh) and Dr. Casey (Michigan) both experts -- have stated that invariably they find a blood vessel or vein when they perform an MVD.
738075 tn?1330575844 OK, now I'm 4 weeks into it, I'm on 1200 mg/day of Trileptal, 900 mg/day of Gabapentin, and my usual 60 mg/day of Baclofen, and it's finally starting to ease! Eating is still a little dicey, but it's getting better. What a nasty trip! Thanks, all for your good thoughts!
Avatar n tn Hi. I was diagnosed with ATN 14 years ago. The pain has been well-controlled with neurontin until 3 weeks ago. I had an exacerbation of pain, most likely brought on by dental work. The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now.
