I was lucky and after 3 procedures have been pain free and medication free for almost 4 years. So I was able to wean off the Trileptal under doctors orders.

I went to a teaching hospital in a large city nearby and found a Facial Pain specialist who deals with facial pain patients on a daily basis. Yes, I have used for TN and simultaneous leg pain. It works well with few side effects (drowsy at first which resolves with use).

Hi, I'm new to the sight but have been doing research on Trileptal and MS. I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist?

After only a week of being on this medication for the stabbing pain behind my right eye I feel horrible do the side effects eventually get better or should I stop taking it

Trileptal can be very effective against nerve pain for some people with MS (and people with nerve pain from other causes as well). The fact that your symptoms returned when you were weaned off the drug is a good sign that it's working for what ails you. I'm glad it is still being prescribed for you. If you feel comfortable sharing, has the Trileptal helped symptoms in addition to pain for you? I also am very curious to know what you mean by your LP was only 2/3 conclusive.

I took it for nerve pain. It made my migraines worse. Everyone is different. I went on Trileptal which worked great. It sometimes takes awhile to find drugs that work with few side effects. I ended up at a pain clinic run by Duke. There was a lot of trial and error.

My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????

My neuro put me on gabapentin (neurontin), to work on my seizures, and the rib pain (which was the first neuropathic pain my gp recognized). Though it worked at first, I eventually needed too high a dose, so, my gp put me on lyrica which was created for diabetic neuropathy. It works, it takes a while for it to build up in your system tho, so that it works.

Very annoing to have daily pain when practicing my proffesion. Have been taking Carbamezapine and lately Gabapentine, which both cause Erectile Disfunction. Have read that Oxcarbazepine does not have this side effect. Have not convinced my neurologist to let me switch meds. What success have people had using Oxcarbazepine for TN, and does it also cause ED? I don't want to use either carbamezapine or gabapentine if possible.

Hi, Tammy, I'm no stranger to TN, and it's rearing it's ugly head again, lately. I take a combination of Gabapentin, and Trileptal (a kin to Tegritol). Trileptal makes me dizzy, but if I ramp up very slowly, it becomes tolerable. So, I start with 300 mg each of G and T at bedtime, for three days. Then, I add the same doses in the morning, so that my morning and evening doses are 12 hours apart. I do this for three days, and then add a noon dose if necessary.

He is not against Morphine I take it for Cancer. There are several drugs for nerve pain Lyrica, Gabenpentin, Trileptal, and few others. For muscle spasms there are muscle relaxers the main ones are Bacolphen, Flexiral, and Zananflex. Many people need a combination. Some drugs work for some people and others for others. My MS Specialist sent me to a pain clinic. It might take awhile to get the right combination and dosage. It took me two years to get on the combination that works.

Just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced swollen glands and itchy eyes when taking trileptal? I've only been on it now for 3wks and am currently on 75mg along with 375mg of Keppra twice daily. I don't have a rash but am wondering if this is just a cold or side effect from meds. I called the nurse yesterday at docs office they suggested being checked out by PMD, any suggestions? I dont have a fever or any other symptoms? Thanks for the feedback.

Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your reply, I ve taken a holiday by the beach i went for swiming walking trying to laugh and forget about my problems and it helped a lot, Now with the calmepam i have reduced the dose gradually i started to take half of the tablet for 5 days then i stopped for 2 days then i started to take quarter of the tablet every two days till i stopped now (almost from 5 days) is it okay?.

After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!

currently 6ml in the a.m. and 8ml in the p.m. (the concentration is 300mg/5ml.) About 2 weeks ago, his dose of Trileptal was increased from 6ml twice a day to the present dosage (because he was still having some mild break-through seizures). Around the same time, his teacher has mentioned that he is not "listening" well to her directions, and sometimes she has to re-explain her directions to him.

I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.

Is anyone taking Trileptal for Touretts and OCD combined. My 13 year old daughter does. Does not help as much as Abilfy but does not have the hunger issue either.

There are many medications that can help for nerve pain. It just depends on which works for you. There is Lyrica, Neurotin, Tegretol, and Trileptal to name a few. There are many conditions which cause PN some Neurological some not.

Hi, I'm on trileptal, and I'm so tired, dizzy, I just stop taking morning pil because i can't drive to work. I will call my doc. I tell him about this. This drug is really something. But what I read, all this medicines are like this.

I lost my medical insurance and need help with maintaining my prescription of Trileptal. I was told that the internet coupons may not be available in Maine where I live. Other assistance, maybe directly from manufacture? Only need assistance for 6 mos.

Ok so, I have been taking the's meds for like 2 months now. I am taking 150 mg of Zoloft and 1800 mg of Trileptal daily. I have been very emotional, like it's that time of the month but it's not, for the last week and for like 2 days now, just randomly I smell weird as ****... Like I was warming up some pizza rolls and it smelled like sweaty day old gym clothes and then I heated up something else and it smelled like day old pissy clothes... Is this normal??

They have to keep tweaking at the pain clinic and it takes time, but I take way less medication and do not feel as gross from side effects. Unfortunately there is no one size fits all solution. It depends on if you have nerve or muscle pain or both. Plus many of us have issues besides MS. I for example have MS and Cancer. I also use Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation and Therapeutic Dressage (horse back riding) for pain control. A lot of my pain is made worse by a weak core and stress.
