Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your reply, I ve taken a holiday by the beach i went for swiming walking trying to laugh and forget about my problems and it helped a lot, Now with the calmepam i have reduced the dose gradually i started to take half of the tablet for 5 days then i stopped for 2 days then i started to take quarter of the tablet every two days till i stopped now (almost from 5 days) is it okay?.

The Trileptal also began causing a lowering of my blood sodium levels (hyponatremia), a rare side effect for the medication, but I used salt pills to offset this and had to- guess what?- go for regular blood tests. And then depression and anxiety worsened over time. I also began to have these weird twitches and movements I couldn't control, one so badly I ended up in an emergency room with a neurologist questioning if the Trileptal was causing the problem.

I found Lamictal the most tolerable out of the 3 and it worked specifically on rapid cycling and mixed states and could not tolerate Tegretol, Trileptal and Depakoate because of personality changes (but that's a potential side effect of all anti-convulsants used as mood stabilizers including the one I take now) but each person responds differently to each medication although generally, side effect profile aside as it is the only medication approved as a mood stabilizer before any other usa

I went to a psychiotrist 3 weeks ago who took me off both of those meds and put me on Seroquel 150mg and trileptal 1200mg. Last week she upped the seroquel to 300mg and my trileptal to 1500mg. I now cant function at all i cant concentrate, i cant sleep all i want to do is eat. I wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat and i am soaking wet.. I don't understand what is going on can someone please help me??

The long term side effect associated with taking Trileptal is liver damage. It must be monitored and a blood panel must be taken on a regular basis to make sure your liver is OK. I don't think 5 days would cause liver damage though (since the damage is associated with a long term build up in your system). Are you pregnant? Trileptal should not be taken if you're pregnant. Other than that, you should feel normal after a couple days of stopping the medication.

Just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced swollen glands and itchy eyes when taking trileptal? I've only been on it now for 3wks and am currently on 75mg along with 375mg of Keppra twice daily. I don't have a rash but am wondering if this is just a cold or side effect from meds. I called the nurse yesterday at docs office they suggested being checked out by PMD, any suggestions? I dont have a fever or any other symptoms? Thanks for the feedback.

The mood stabilizer I take now Clonidine is rarely used because it can cause depression and its a blood pressure medication in its original use with the potential of some severe side effects. I don't believe the medication Lovaza requires blood tests but like the rest of the mood stabilizers that would be listed its use as a mood stabilizer is experimental.

Hi, I'm new to the sight but have been doing research on Trileptal and MS. I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist?

We were just prescribed this for my son who is 8. He spent the last 3 years fighting outbursts which included throwing things, hitting others, screaming, crying, and not being able to cope with things he didnt like the answer to. He started Trileptal in August and we saw huge improvement. but 2 months ago the doc added Guanfacine and Clonidine to help. then things became bad again. And guanfacine is not easy to come off of. We lately we have had outburts like previous to trileptal.

Being female -- I can't answer your question about ED. I do know that I tried gabapentin -- didn't work, Tegretol (Carbamezepine) didn't work. But Trileptal worked well. It DID cause nausea and drowsiness. The pain doc said to take it a half-hour to an hour before eating and that resolve the nausea. He also advised taking a No-Doz (equal to 1 cup of coffee) along with the daytime doses -- and that took care of most of the drowsiness.

Hi. I was diagnosed with ATN 14 years ago. The pain has been well-controlled with neurontin until 3 weeks ago. I had an exacerbation of pain, most likely brought on by dental work. The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now.

Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!

t have the same risk of blood dyscreias so there is no need for regular blood tests. Trileptal is gradually replacing Tegretol which is less in use now as Trileptal is much safer but has the same effect on mood stabilization. You should ask your psychiatrist about that. If you have any more questions about benefits issues ask me as I volunteer and do advocacy in that area. I'm sure there's a way you can find coverage.

Ok I wouldn't take the Neurontin while you're taking the Trileptal as they serve basically the same purpose and combining them may have more adverse side effects than worth it. I'm not sure about Neurontin's effectiveness against opiate wds but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't do much. It's primarily an anti-seizure med but it's also used for pain relief even tho it has no narcotic properties whatsoever.

We have started the weaning off process but the TN is trying to return so we are on the last week of taper of Trileptal and stating Neurontin and Cymbalta to replace it. My Ms neuro would prefer to keep me on a low dose of Trileptal for the TN and continue all the other meds. does this seems like excessive amount of drugs to be taking? Don't forget the nortriptyline and clonzepam too. I'm a freaking walking pharmacy!

After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!

My reasoning and tell me if it is flawed is that as the trileptal came down the amount of geodon in the blood went up and it was too much and caused the numbness. I am really worried at this point and really need some help and answers. Please answer my question and I will get back to you with any other details. Thank you.

Its just not as used much anymore because of the fact that it can interact with antipsychotics (not dangerously, just lower their blood level) and thus in someone who needs both appear to cause psychosis (as it did with me) and of course Trileptal has generally replaced it. That information came directly from my provider so that's been standard thinking for a while but it takes some time for it to be phased in.

currently 6ml in the a.m. and 8ml in the p.m. (the concentration is 300mg/5ml.) About 2 weeks ago, his dose of Trileptal was increased from 6ml twice a day to the present dosage (because he was still having some mild break-through seizures). Around the same time, his teacher has mentioned that he is not "listening" well to her directions, and sometimes she has to re-explain her directions to him.

I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.

My neuro ordered the typical blood tests for the disorders that mimic MS: lupus, Lyme's, B12, sarcoidosis etc. All have come back negative. So I guess the UBOs in my periventricular and deep white matter, subcortical, as well as the brainstem and cerebellum are a mystery. Today is the day I " up" my dose of Trileptal to get relief from this trigeminal neuralgia. Looks like a groggy weekend is ahead!I just wish I had some closure on what is going on right now.

Is anyone taking Trileptal for Touretts and OCD combined. My 13 year old daughter does. Does not help as much as Abilfy but does not have the hunger issue either.
