trigeminal-neuralgia

572651 tn?1530999357 I'm pretty sure I have occipital neuralgia. For me I think it's worse than the trigeminal neuralgia. Charliy, I hope your head is feeling better soon.
Avatar f tn Hello unnerved, Trigeminal nerve which is responsible for sensations of the face. The cause trigeminal neuralgia is probably a blood vessel pressing on the trigeminal nerve. Tumors and multiple sclerosis can also cause it, but in some cases the cause is unknown. The pain is sudden, severe, electric shock-like, stabbing that is typically felt on one side of the jaw or cheek.
Avatar m tn Differentials will be a migraine headache, trigeminal neuralgia, occipital neuralgia, carotidynia and tension headaches. Trigeminal neuralgia is associated with a severe pain over the temples, the cheeks ,and over the jaw.The pain may be debilitating and may be aggravated by light touch , brushing the teeth or combing your hair. Carotidynia may be pain over the neck and temples. There are a few types and they may be due to an underlying viral infection.
645390 tn?1338555377 They are done together to break the pain cycle caused by Occipital Neuralgia (Cevical 2 Neuralgia). This pain syndrome is very similar to Trigeminal Neuralgia (Cranial Nerve 5 Neuralgia.
Avatar n tn Has anyone seen a relationship between trigeminal neuralgia and chronic migraines?
Avatar f tn I have been going to the doctor for several years for sinusitis, then I began to have facial pain. After several different doctors, I was told that I had trigeminal neuralgia as well as a deviated septum. I eventually had laser surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia, but the a facial pain continues. The nerve pain has subsided, but I continue to have facial pain on my left side. The pain seems to get worse if I lean my head to that side.
215220 tn?1191456864 t have glassopharyngeal neuralgia, but I do have trigeminal neuralgia and occipital neuralgia (or what I think it occipital neuralgia--the sx fit exactly). Both came on around the same time that was the start of this current "flare" (I'm un-dx). Having a killer headache with TN was pretty crappy. Luckily neurontin seems to be helping both problems. Can you call a doctor for a script for the pain w/o going in?
Avatar f tn I have Occipital Neuralgia, Trigeminal Neuralgia, and now Neurofibromatosis. I had to leave my jobs as my condition is rapidly deteriorating. Neurologist is puzzled. I have head attacks of severe excruciating pain with right eye involved and 5 distinct tones of ringing in my ears during the nerve seizure attacks. I now am loosing my memory to the point of being diagnosed with early dementia. This is bad.
Avatar f tn You should see a neurologist about Trigeminal Neuralgia. Your symptoms resemble this. It is often sharp, knife like stabbing sensations in the face and surrounding areas.
Avatar n tn I looked it up on the internet and found that I had the symptoms of both Trigeminal Neuralgia and Occipital Neuralgia. I did not believe it to be a coital headache because it wasn't active enough, but it could be. Also, I successfully masturbated and experienced an orgasm properly while lying on my side. The pain has mostly gone away, but not completely. Also, it sometimes comes on its own [the feeling of trigeminal neuralgia], especially when I am in the light.
405614 tn?1329144114 I've experienced Trigeminal Neuralgia on and off for years, the atypical sort mostly, with some real zaps and zings and extended pains that made me whimper. Now that the headaches are gone, I can write and ask about them. A couple weeks ago, I started having some truly horrible headaches, nothing like the few migraines I've had in the past. I had no more than my usual stuffiness caused by allergies and side effects from Avonex, so it didn't seem to be a sinus headache.
Avatar f tn Dear, Trigeminal neuralgia is a neuropathic disorder of the trigeminal nerve that causes episodes of intense pain in the eyes, lips, There are some things that you can do to minimize the frequency and intensity of TN attacks: Apply ice packs or any readily available source of cold to the area of pain. Cold often numbs the area and will reduce the pain.[citation needed] Get adequate rest in normal rest cycles. Manage your stress well and keep stress levels low.
Avatar m tn I am concerned i have nerve damage in the trigeminal section v1 that is causing type 2 trigeminal neuralgia. i think that constant ache and pain is steming from the trigeminal v1 branch and the "migranes" are actually bouts of intense nerve pain. Also 2 months post injury hands started to have a dull feeling in the last 2 digits (bilateral) ulnar nerve area. it wa a dull feeling that came and went, then turned into constant light numbness that never goes away..
6012171 tn?1381679620 I have a question concerning the dosage for prednisone that my neurologist prescribed for me. I get attacks of occipital neuralgia and trigeminal neuralgia. These attacks have been an issue for a little over 2 years now. They last anywhere from several days to the longest which was 24 days (occipital neuralgia). The attacks of occipital neuralgia make it impossible for me to function normally and I spend most of my time in bed.
Avatar n tn I too suffer from facial numbness known as Trigeminal neuralgia( the R. side of my face tingles, mynose lip and teeth go numb, too. In addition, I have Cervicogenic Headaches and Occipital neuralgia, Debilitating Pain that radiates from the base of my skull, to my forehead and behind my R. eye. I need a surgery called Occipital Nerve Decompression, featured on "Good Morning America", but not covered by my Insurance.
Avatar f tn After waiting a week I was sent to an anesthesiologist, who said it was occipital neuralgia and suggested a more specific nerve block. This was injected directly into three different areas of the occipital nerve from a sigle injection point. This time, although there was no relief from pain, the entire occipital nerve path was numb for hours. This confused the doctor...
Avatar f tn Thanks for responding Alex. I have experienced trigeminal neuralgia, but it didn't involve the tooth pain or roof of my mouth. I will give the doc a call tomorrow if this persists. Have a good evening.
