Trigeminal Neuralgia is a really painful condition.However the lesion in your white matter may not linked with the same.If , after numerous MRI's nothing conclusive has been found about your brain's white matter lesions,then it's better to pause the things.
However the alarming thing is the sporadic weakness in your legs.I would suggest you to get a MRI screening of the full back.Maybe it will reveal more findings rather than multiple brain MRI's.
I also have Hashimoto's (hypothyroidism) and Trigeminal Neuralgia.
Have had Hashimoto's disease for many years now. Not until I got on the cholesterol medication Simvastatin did I get Trigeminal Neuralgia. I refuse to take any anti seizure medications, the side effects are to dangerous. I take muscle relaxers and Advil as needed. After taking the statin drug Simvastatin I haven't been the same. I even got to the point that I was breathless.
I‘ve been having very recent neurological symptoms and no diagnosis has been given yet despite several tests and dr appointments. Trigeminal neuralgia is a diagnosis being considered by my doctor but my head pain is mild and not excruciating like it's typically described. I also have slight limb weakness on my left side that began shortly after the temporal and head pain which from what I understand wouldn't be due to trigeminal neuralgia.

This may be Trigeminal neuralgia as you have typical one sided facial pain extending to temple and eye( ophthalmic branch of trigeminal nerve may be involved) and sore gums of the teeth of same side (maxillary branch of 5th nerve). Trigeminal neuralgia may have a triggering factor like recent history of tooth extraction, touch, cold breeze or hot sensation etc. which you need to evaluate and avoid.

By ATN -- do you mean Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia? If so, there are 5 different types of surgery. There are also medications -- mostly anti-seizure medications normally used for epilepsy -- that are used to control the pain. Problem with the drugs is, they can cause other problems (kidney/liver) and regular blood tests are necessary.

However, I had the same symptoms you were having and was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. Its where one or more of the three main nerves in your face cause nerve pain, or neuralgia. The first nerve lays across the eyebrows, the second lays across your cheek bones and the third nerve lays across the chin. My doctor put me on Lyrica and Klonopin and it seems to help a little, although the pain does intensify and the pain medication does not work for it since it is nerve pain.

Drug of choice for trigeminal neuralgia is carbamazepine but as the dose may vary according to severity therefore I would advice an oral medicine specialist consultation or at least a physician to confirm this diagnosis and get you treated accordingly. One of the causes of Trigeminal Neuralgia could be tumors. The Trigeminal nerve and its branches touches many parts of the face including the sinuses. (Google Gray's Anatomy (bartleby.com) for good diagrams of where the Trigeminal Nerve is).
I personally have not heard that TN loosens teeth -- although pain in the teeth and gums (because of all the areas the nerve touches) is common.

she is 29 and has been diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia. could her tn be from the meningitis? maybe a sid effect?? she is on very strong medication and can not have the dosage increased anymore. she suffers alot with extreme pain. thank you, i need to find out as much as i can about this disease.
