Avatar n tn Can you please tell me if steroids are usually prescribed for these types of ailments? Will using steroids (triamcinolone or hydrocortisone) assist with symptoms similar to mine or is calamine a better alternative?
Avatar f tn I’ve had what appears to be balanitis for 8 months now. I’m uncircumcised. I’ve tried ketoconaznole, triamcinolone, hydrocortisone, nystatin& triamcinolone. Also used basic lotions etc. basically nothing has worked. The most recent dermatologist I saw said that I have balanitis that turned into dermal hyper sensitivity/ a sensitized skin. He prescribed desonide ointment that didn’t work and also prednisone. Gave me some epiceram cream as well.
Avatar m tn Hello, Triamcinolone is a high potency steroid and should be used with caution on the delicate and thin skin of penis. Instead you should use milder steroids such as 1% OTC hydrocortisone and prescription hydrocortisone with iodoquinol creams. Also useful in this area are Protopic and Elidel. Please discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar f tn Basically 2 months ago I noticed a small bumps on my testicles so I used some hydrocortisone and it went away. Now for weeks I have been left with red testicles and penis plus the groin area and side of upper leg, no rash just red skin which is sensitive to touch and burns. The dermatologist prescribed me Ketoconazole, Triamcinolone and Terbinafine. Been using for a week and it is no better in fact it burns and itches more at night. Alone with this I was using some antifungal soap.
Avatar f tn I could easily forget about it since it didn’t bother me. Doctor told me I had anal fissure and prescribed me with Triamcinolone the first time and Hydrocortisone 2.5 and I’ve taken oral medication for 14 days as well the second time and now since applying the creams my buttcrack is all discolored and white. Redness had pretty much cleared but my buttcrack is all discolored and white like I said. Mind you I am dark so seeing this just makes me feel negative and stressed idk what to do!
Avatar f tn What does skin atrophy look like? I used a steroid cream Triamcinolone on my face months back. I used it periodically over the course of 3 to 4 months. Now my facial skin looks almost scarred. I can't quite tell if it is permanent scarring or atrophy. Can a steroid cream produce scarring? Is this reversible? How long does it usually take to reverse?
Avatar f tn Don't use Triamcinolone anymore if you can help it as overuse can cause real problems. We read about it here all the time because it can thin the skin. I would try Psoriaflora cream or clear 100% aloe vera.
Avatar m tn Decadron® (dexamethasone) 4 mg is not the therapeutic equivalent of Kenalog® (triamcinolone acetonide) 80 mg. Using the Lexi-Calc corticosteroid conversion formula, the ratio of the 2 would be close to 5:1. So it would take Decadron® (dexamethasone) 16 mg to be approximately the equivalent of Kenalog® (triamcinolone acetonide) 80 mg.
Avatar m tn From your diagnosis it appears as if the most logical diagnosis is a form of eczema called contact dermatitis, probably in response to the Triamcinolone part of the cream. I think that I am going to try applying Hydrocortisone and see where that gets me for the next few days.
Avatar m tn i then decided to go to see a doctor few months ago. He prescribed first NYSTATIN AND TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE which i used for 2 weeks without any result, then he prescribed MOMETASONE FUROATE 0.1% which made the situation worse. i then decided to visit a dermatologist which he prescribed HYDROCORTISONE CREAM 2.5% twice a day for a month. 1 month has passed by but i don’t see any improvement at all. I have been single for over a year and masturbate 1-2 a week.
Avatar m tn So approximately a month ago I randomly had a sensation when I went to urinate and it would follow with a couple blood droplets. I had unprotected sex 3 weeks prior to that. I got checked for HIV, chlamydia, and gonorrhea. All tests came back negative. Doc gave me antibiotics for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis. The antibiotics didn't make a difference but it got better with time.
Avatar m tn I have used Hydrocortisone cream (it burns), Triamcinolone acetonide, and Benadryl. None have been effective. This has been going on for nearly two months.
Avatar f tn Have you ever used anything like hydrocortisone (it is a type of steroid) cream on your hands for anything like rashes or the like on a long-term basis? That can lead to the thinned out skin like you're talking about. You seem rather young for the backs of your hands to already have this issue. I would prefer to see this not happen until you're much older. In any case, if you didn't use a steroid cream for anything in the past, don't start using any now.
Avatar f tn I was currently using triamcinolone for an existing exema condition in other areas of my body. I called the nurse at my dr's office and she suggested that I use the triamcinolone cream on my face to clear up the reaction. It worked and in the months passing as I tried to get my facial skin back to normal, I used the triamcinolone locally, on occasion if I had another outbreak on my face. I fear that I may have skin atrophy in areas of my face now.
Avatar m tn One day I went in for more, they had a hydrocortisone cream with Chamomile. As I have shared hydrocortisone and triamcinolone alone are utterly useless. I have seen possible improvements from only 3 things -- Iodoquinol (unquestionable improvement but with very rapid return), Oxiconazole (mild improvement with rapid return) and hyrdocortisone with chamomile (mild improvement with rapid return). (I've also gotten mixed results from Neem Oil. The 1st use of it made no change.
Avatar m tn t be able to get to the dermatologists for a couple months, and last night I just found Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream 0.1% which I believe my doctor gave to me awhile ago when I complained about dry skin before it was this bad. So my question is would this give me any relief if I used this on my face and is it still usable as it says it expired in the beginning of 2010 but its been unopened and in a cool cabinet?
Avatar f tn Yes, I am actually seeing a different gynecologist tomorrow. Hopefully I will get some answers as the first gynecologist basically disregarded all my symptoms. And thank you for your suggestions. I'm pretty sure the triamcinolone cream I am using is similar to hydrocortisone as it is a cortico-steroid.
Avatar m tn The strange thing is that it only seems to be on places above my upper chest that are potentially exposed to the sun. Last week, I visited my general practicioner. He prescribed me .1 triamcinolone acetonide cream twice a day on the affected area. I've used it appropriately for six days now. It did seem to relieve the burning sensation as well as the slight itching. However, it remains red and a bit irritated-feeling.
1833444 tn?1325557062 I have heard some people on this forum say that ice packs, standing in front of the open freezer door, standing outside for a minute or two, keeping your skin lotioned up, and drinking lots of water helps. Have your tried the anti itch ointment Triamcinolone? It is a prescription that seems to help my husband's itching. He has also used Eucerin cream and Eucerin body wash, which seems to help.
Avatar f tn Hi there... some here have mentioned having good results from the steroid ointment...Triamcinolone. Hope that helps..
Avatar f tn just started using hydrocortisone that was prescribed to me because the sides of my lips were chapped bad, and very sore. Its been working great, in regards to that. But for the second day so far my lower lip has been slightly swolen and VERY sore. And I'll wake up with blood residue on my gums. I'm not sure if this could be classified as a side effect of hydrocortisone, or if this is likely to be something else all together. I've never been allergic to anything thus far. I'm 18.
Avatar f tn Then they seem to go away, swelling goes down and then boom they start itching again and they’re back in full force! I’ve tried Epson salt bath, chamomile tea, vapor rub, hydrocortisone cream, ice packs...please help! What is this? They’re mostly from the waist down on all of us. Itch all the time but definitely worse in the morning and at night. I can’t afford to keep going to the doctor for them to tell me they don’t know.
482830 tn?1247020837 When I do that the areas tend to swell a little, the skin thickens and dries. I have been rotating between Triamcinolone Acetonide ointment, hydrocortisone, Balmex and Sarna. Nothing seems to work for more than a few minutes. My skin condition doesn't appear to be contagious. A dermatologist suggested that I have eczema, but didn't do any tests to arrive at that diagnosis. I'd like to see another dermatologist but I am uninsured.
