Prescribed Hydroxyzine HCL 25 mg 1-2 tab every 6 hrs and Triamcinolone 0.025% OINT twice per day as needed. Use Eucerin cream.
I have been using Eucerin cream which really helps with the itching. Also using Cetaphil cream. It's very much like having poison ivy - it really drives me crazy. The Ribavirin causes fatigue but once I have a nap I feel pretty good. Are there other things that might help with the rash?
Not a good day. Barely sleep. Day five. Itching abated only by a degree, slaver triamcinolone .05% on. Doesn't stop it, but allows a couple hrs of relief, less intensity in general. Perianal problem. Intense. It feels like exposed nerves, wired to a 9v battery. BM painful. Don't want to get too descriptive, let's say that will be the last bm for the next 11 weeks. Day six itching. Night, unable to sleep but for naps, the rash keeps me awake. Day seven.

org/posts/Hepatitis-C/Skin-issues-on-tx/show/1461904 My rash was horrible with open sores. I used Eucerin Calming Cream and took Benadryl which dried it up. Two weeks later It is under control. The itch has subsided for the most part and the sores are almost healed. I do think there will be scarring as the skin is a dark color now. Good luck ~ I feel for you!
The antihistamines and anti-itch cremes we can buy without a prescription did NOTHING for my rash, which kept getting worse. However, the combination of Betamethasone and Hydroxyzine worked amazingly well. Both require a prescription from your doctor.
There is currently no known cure for keratosis pilaris, however, there are effective treatments available which make its symptoms less apparent. Treatment includes tretinoin or Triamcinolone cream or Adapalene, a retinoid medication. Exfoliation, intensive moisturizing creams, creams and lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids and urea may be used to temporarily improve the appearance and texture of affected skin.
Some common emollients( MOISTENING AGENTS) for the relief of eczema include Oilatum, Balneum, Medi Oil, Diprobase, bath oils and aqueous cream. Sebexol, Epaderm ointment and Eucerin lotion or cream may also be helpful with itchiing. Avoid contact with soaps and harsh detergents as they have a drying effect. ref:http://en.wikipedia.
It is a prescription that seems to help my husband's itching. He has also used Eucerin cream and Eucerin body wash, which seems to help.

I started to get a rash on my stomach, at the injection sites almost immediately and on my hands, back and face. I've started to use Eucerin cream with 15% Urea, and find it helps alot.
Eucerin cream Eucerin body wash tea tree oil (on blisters that form with rash) Advocate 1955
After six days, I stopped using the products entirely. I have been rinsing my face with water and drenching it in Eucerin several times a day. Eucerin is the ONLY product that does not sting. I sometimes use unscented glycerin soap. Six weeks later, I see no improvement. My skin is so tight dry, it feels like it's in shrink wrap. It flakes every day. My eyes are swollen and flaky. Everything stings, even touch. What can I do for real relief? How long will this last?
My husband takes Hydroxyzine HCL (a strong antihistamine) and uses Triamcinolone (an ointment) when the rash is bad. Both are prescriptions. He also uses Eucerin body wash in the shower and Eucerin cream after the shower. When he had blisters on his back due to the rash, we put tea tree oil on them. I have also heard people say that pressing the itchy area up against a cold surface, stepping outside, standing in front of a fan, and putting ice on it helps.

His doc also suggested Eucerin cream and Eucerin body wash, to keep the skin moisturized. We used tea tree oil on the few blisters that formed. Sometimes he put ice on areas that were really bothering him, or stood outside without a shirt on at night. Sometimes it was not just the stinging, itching, and redness of the rash, but also the tingling, twitching/jumping/crawling skin feeling that bothered him.
My baby is 9 weeks and had eczema really bad. I finially got her face mostly clear and smooth by using a eczema cream at Wal-Mart in the baby section. I do not remember the name off hand for I am at work but it comes in a blue tube with the Baby Disney Characters on it. That is the only thing that worked on her. They also have a soap from the same company. I also started washing our clothes in a dye free and sent free detergent and fabric softener. Hers of coarse I wash in Dreft.
Hello, Triamcinolone is a high potency steroid and should be used after a dermatologist’s guidance. It is very true that steroids are not without side effects and long term use should be under a dermatologist’s guidance only. Steroid induced rosacea is one of the commonest side effect of long term use of steroids. Others include skin thinning and atrophy, allergic reaction and tachyphylaxis(tolerance the skin develops to the vasoconstrictive action of topical steroids.).
At this point she was placed on Zyrtec 5mg BID, Orapred 15 mg q daily x 5 days and Triamcinolone cream BID. The plaques were beginning to get better and I have seen some encouraging results regarding them. However, 2 days after finishing the Orapred, she has developed an extremely itchy rash from her neck almost to her knees. The rash is slightly raised and red. I have used some of the Triamcinolone on it in a few places just to test but it has not helped.
If your typical lotions aren't enough (I loved Eucerin Body Cream and Aveeno lotions), talk to your doctor. There are things that can help. I used hydrocortisone cream mixed into my body lotions to dilute it somewhat. If you use hydrocortisone cream on the really bad spots, use it sparingly, and not on your face. In the meantime, have you tried taking Benadryl or Zyrtec? I used both of these; Benadryl at night and Zyrtec during the day.
Freederm (did not work well) Tide Free Cetaphil Eucerin Cream (my preference and hers) Eucerin for Itchy Skin (awful when the skin is open) Cetaphil lotion/cream Aquaphor So, what has anyone else used and to what success or failure?
Sometimes, I use hydrocortisone and/or triamcinolone acentonide cream to reduce itching and swelling. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. One day, I took an entire box of children's benadryl. Between that and the hydrocortisone, I had some relief for one day. My skin has always been sensitive and certain areas of my face have always been prone to dryness, but the benzoyl peroxide seems to have taken it to a whole new level.
My mom refuses to let me use them and I apply aloe gel and eucerin instead. at this rate, its still spreading, just slowly. every website i go to says it is chronic or reoccurring, does that mean it will never go away?
I will try not putting soap on them during my showers though, just using water. The doctor prescribed me a triamcinolone cream that works until I stop using it, and I hear its not good to become dependent on the steroid creams which is why I'm looking for something else.
Nothing worked -- I tried all of the popular treatments described on this forum -- lukewarm baths, cold baths, oatmeal/Aveeno, Gold bond cream (red top green bottle), steroid cream (triamcinolone), Eucerin, no soap, no detergent, benadryl, Atarax, fine weave cotton, etc etc etc. Sarna cream (the type with Pramoxine) would help for about an hour, just from the local anesthetic effect, but that would not buy me a full night of sleep.
I went to a couple doctors who didn't give me a proper diagnosis, they had perscribed me Fluocinonide Cream USP 0.05%, Eucerin, and Triamcinolone Cream 0.1%. No one has ever perscribed me an oral antibiotic, only topical. I found that none of the topicals really treated the main cause of folliculitis, I only felt like I was covering it up or making it worse. Recent Update: On the 5th of May 2009, I underwent a tonsillectomy and adenoid surgery.
Eucerin cream and Eucerin body wash We put tea tree oil (available over the counter in drug stores) on the blisters that developed with the rash when it was at it's worst. In comparing his rash to the pictures of the Inc rash, I would say that his was also moderate. What we found was that the rash started on one part of his body, got bad there, and then moved to another part of his body, got bad there, and then moved again.
said it seems like yeast, and seemed to notice some fungus. He prescribed Nystatin cream (without Triamcinolone Acetonide) I did not realize at the time I had already tried Nystatin during first outbreak. I also visited a dermatologist about this, and he basically ignored the problem after he heard i tested negative for std's at an earlier point. He then went through a skin cancer screening (unrelated) I obviously hope that this is just a yeast infection but really have some concerns.
