I am prone to both calcium stones & uric acid stones. First kidney stone was size of a walnut & could not pass so was removed by actual surgery. Avatar m tn Drink plenty of water and talk to your nephrologist regarding the treatment of kidney stones which include pain killers, trying avoiding taking calcium rich foods. If the symptoms persist then surgical intervention is needed. This includes, ureteroscopy, ureteral stent placement, ESWL and percutaneous nephrostomy. I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a urologist and discuss the various treatment options, I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Avatar n tn If with symptom, a person feels a sharp, cramping pain in the back and side in the area of the kidney or in the lower abdomen. If the stone is too large to pass easily, pain as well as blood may appear in the urine. Your symptoms highly suggest kidney stones but I recommend that you have this evaluated further by your doctor. Diagnosis is through an x ray or ultrasound. The results of these tests help determine the proper treatment. Furthermore, the chance of recurring stones is high.

Avatar f tn My main problem and one I can not find any info on is that in my left kidney there are multiple stones but one is a 17mm stone that over time got sucked up into the tissue of my kidney. It causes pain 24 hours a day and I have been sent to many different urologists about this one stone searching for a way to solve this 17mm stone.

How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger?

Calcium supplementation does increase the risk of kidney stones. As far as the blood pressure goes, he should probably have his dose of the lisinopril reduced. Alternatively, there are other agents such as calcium channel blockers, beta blockers or Angiotensine receptor blockers that can also be tried. I would probably avoid diuretics at this point.
Avatar f tn I passed kidney stones when I was put on blood thinners years ago. You need to drink tons of water to ease their passing. A heating pad helps with pain too. Lynn is right, an er won't be able to help you. Distilled water helps a lot, I was told to avoid calcium fortified stuff, as that can be a contributing factor for stones.
