Avatar n tn i have a goiter with nodules- taking iodoral, has it helped anyone shink goiter and nodules?
Avatar f tn Why are you not taking your cytomel in split dosages starting with 1st in the am with your synthroid??? There are a lot of reasons to and not to take Iodoral....and should be done under supervision. If you have Hashimoto's and are still in the destruction phase, I would not take it. Otherwise, under supervision and slowly.
Avatar f tn With Hashimoto's but normal thyroid function, medication is not mandatory, but a trial of low dose levothyroxine (25mcg for example) may be worthwile. With the goiter/nodules, you may want to see an endocrinologist for consideration of biopsy and further advice.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Armour Thyroid(90mg) since July, prior to that I was taking Synthroid. My iodine levels have been low so in September I added Kelp to my morning routine. After a month of Kelp I had my iodine drawn again and it was the exact same. During October I started on Iodoral and after a month had my blood drawn again and my iodine was through the roof. I stopped the Iodoral and just continued taking Armour.
739097 tn?1232231492 ve been told that Iodoral Iodine replacement is very helpful with Thyroid balance and fibrocystic breast disease. I've also been told that using Armour Thyroid is not a good treatment option if my Anti-Thyroid antibody levels were high, so I switched to Synthroid and started on Iodoral, now I'm in a hyper state, my family physician has started to cut my synthroid meds back, I was on 300mcg, now on 287 mcg.
Avatar n tn sometimes hypothyroidism is caused by not enough iodine in one's system. i take iodoral each day -- 1 - 12.5 mg tablet when i get up -- and another half a pill later during the day. i also eat seaweed -- to make sure there is enough iodine in my system each day.
Avatar f tn Stop the thyroid medications, particularly the iodoral - this could block thyroid function. Despite the suggestive symptoms, your labs were completely normal so thyroid medications were not indicated at that time.
Avatar f tn 35, T3 remained WNL. I knew my thyroid was abnormal because of heart palpitations, but certainly not that abnormal. Any feedback on reasons for such a sudden change? This discussion is related to <a href="/posts/Thyroid-Cancer-Nodules--Hyperthyroidism/Extremely-High-TSH-leve-EXTREMELY/show/264267">Extremely High TSH leve EXTREMELY</a>.
6970651 tn?1386600870 But my TSH was normal. The doc said my thyroid was low. I have been taking Armour 15mg plus Iodoral 12.5mg and Selenium 200mcg for almost a year. From my readings, I believe the iodine overload from the Iodoral may have caused this antibody response. I have nothing to compare it to, as I never had the TPO measured before. I have read that too much can be just as bad as not enough. What is your opinion on this?
Avatar m tn Have your doctor write you a prescription for it, you will probably feel better on it. Another good thing to take for the thyroid is Iodoral Iodine, however, it is a good idea to have the doc order the Iodine Loading Test for you and then test you for iodine levels. You can also add kelp, this is natural iodine and good for the thyroid, whether it be high or low. L-Tyrosine, an amino acid is good for thyroid support too. Why are you are Zocor, this is for high cholesterol.
Avatar n tn s newsletters and books on Thyroid and Potassium Iodide as it will enlighten you on why you SHOULD use Potassium Iodide (he recommends Iodoral brand) for thyroid problems. He is a board certified M.D. Google his name with Iodoral for his website.
1737579 tn?1310666986 I am contemplating taking only Iodoral alone, without the prescription. I have read on other websites that Iodoral has been effective in helping with energy and bringing the thryoid (hypothryodism) to a normal range. What is your take??? Feeling desperate right now!!
Avatar f tn Evidently, since I only take .75mcg of levo and was not far over the line, I must have a thyroid that still functions. Does that matter? I'm far from as informed as I'd like to be on all this and will certainly read here on other posts to try to catch up some too.
Avatar m tn I would love to take iodine, selenium, and whatever else I need and be done with it, but in the past, Iodoral has given me cystic acne. I took Iodoral for a brief time because I self-diagnosed my hypothyroid state before getting lab tested. I stopped when my face flared up. Thoughts?
Avatar n tn I had thyroid ca in 2001, I had a thyroidectomy and placed on Levothyroxin (with a higher dose to stop the new growth of thyroid tissue). The last 3 years I have had tachycardia episodes and hair loss, but my blood tests show my levels are were they should be at. Could there possibly be a connection to my tachycardia and thyroid problems?
Avatar n tn I am taking 2.5 mcg cytomel and 8 drops of Lugols solution for treatment of thyroid nodules. I have more energy, sleep better, but am having regular frontal headaches and my eye ache and itch. It's hard to know if I am taking too much or too little, since the symptoms can be the same! Any suggestions?
460348 tn?1213452322 Their your problem your not making T3 only T4 your doctor could give you cortisol with synthroid to help with your level. I use to take 137 mcg and I have no thyroid. I have since moved on to Armour I also get lower back pain I associate with adrenal gland issues. You will need to have a FT3 & FT4 test to see were your at and how much T3 is getting to each cell. Also, Iodoral is good for you and helps with weight loss do some research on it and you will know what you need.
Avatar m tn Often that will suppress your TSH and you would no longer be affected by reduced output from your thyroid gland, since there would be essentially no TSH to stimulate the gland to produce natural thyroid hormone. Also, has your doctor tested you for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin? Hypo patients are frequently too low in the ranges for those as well.
3109230 tn?1341605768 A concentration at or near the upper limit of the reference range, particularly if associated with a normal T4, may indicate autoimmune thyroid disease. A consensus exists for early treatment of such patients with thyroxine if anti thyroid peroxidase antibodies are present in the serum, because the risk of overt thyroid failure in future years is high, and it makes sense to anticipate morbidity rather than risk loss of follow up.
Avatar f tn Should a patient with ablated thyroid on synthroid take any sea kelp? I am currently taking supplements for hair replacement. I 'm not sure I should take the sea kelp.
Avatar f tn Does anyone take Iodine for their thyroid, while on synthroid? Would it make nodules worse? I keep hearing it's ok to take.
Avatar f tn t take it anymore and asked the doctor to put me on a low dose of ERFA thyroid to see if it would help with my temperature. I was on 15mg for about a week and now im on 30mg and waiting till its time to move up again. I will have to say that it made a little difference with my cold temp but now my hots are hotter and I sweat more. I also sweat every night in my sleep and I find this abnormal for me.
