Avatar f tn I unexpectedly got nail fungus last year, and I treated it with topical tea tree oil and I took Dr Mercola's Probiotic Packs Daily for bout 2 monts, it cleared it up and they have been fine since.
Avatar n tn It appears as though both of my big toes have a new nail growing in underneath the old nail. The old Nail is raised up quite a bit compared to the new growth, which is about 1/4". I also can see a line on both nails that appears to be where the new nail is at, and that is about 75% to the end of my toe. The new nail looks totally fine. I'm 25 years old. None of my other toenails are affected. No pain or other symptoms of any kind.
Avatar n tn Presuming it is actually a fungus, there is a problem because it is under the nail. Outside, on the skin for instance, you would just use Vick's-Vapo-Rub (believe it or not). Getting under the nail is a problem. There are systemic anti-fungals, but my husband did not have much luck with that. He kept painting the nails and pushing stuff under (as far as he could). I think it is pretty well gone now, but it took a long, long time.
Avatar f tn After my baby was born nail got worse , and other sytoms emerged like irregular period ,bad breath , skin problems , skin ichy , tiredness , lack of breath. I struggled with nail fungus for 2 years it was getting worse and better. I am also very sensitive to certain food. I cannot treat the nail fungus with medication as I am breastfeeding my baby. I used tee trea oil , changed my diet. It seems to be very hard to get rid of.
Avatar m tn He has had all lab tests possible done and everything comes back normal. He does have toe nail fungus real bad on his left foot and wondering if that could be the contributing factor to the swelling and redness not going away.
483814 tn?1214311480 It has definitely helped me with the recurring nail fungus, which was extremely irritating, especially as a woman, because you contaminate your nail polish over and over.
Avatar m tn Carefully trim any loose nail portions off as they grow, including any spots with nail separation. Cutting off the loose nail and then doing the oil is key to curing this.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Well, my whole toe nail is infected with the fungus and when it grew back in it grew in crookedly. I will try the method you suggested next time if this comes back though. I think it is a great alternative to the Lamisil as that is very hard on the liver. I still am fighting the infection (bacterial). We'll see what happens by Thursday when I see my GP. I hope I don't have to get the nail removed surgically. But if it has to come out well, I guess better than a worse infection.
Avatar n tn From my understanding one must use both an oral med along with a topical med if it is truly toenail fungus. I suffer from multiple skin cancers & have had 6 surgeries in 6 weeks with about a year more to go as I also have RA & thus a lousy healing & immune system.
Avatar f tn I want to know why my toe nail has looked like this for a long time. And why are my feet so dry. They never have moisture. Will apple cider vinegar baths help? How long should I do them.
Avatar n tn I've been treating my toenail fungus, but as I treat it… it's getting white and really dry, it has lines on the toe nails too. Is that because of the medication I'm putting on my toenails?
Avatar f tn I have suffered from a fungus attack on my fingernails for 5 months. It began with a rash in the palm of my hands. Within weeks, my fingernails showed spots at the base of the nails, and then rapidly became destroyed. I took Lamisel for 6 weeks, beginning in Nov/Dec. I've also been prescribed various topical anti-fungal creams (Clotrimazole and Betamethanose; and Ketoconazole), as well as an anti-fungal nail polish (Ciclopriox), and also a nail film (Umecta).
Avatar n tn Thanks you so much for your answer, very helpful. I started treating the fungus with apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil two weeks ago, and has slowly started to fade. I have been told that I will have to treat it for 6 weeks, so we will see the results then. Unfortunately my doctor insists that I must take the medication but before that I want to try natural alternatives. I will let you know how I am getting on. All the best!
Avatar f tn The doctor didn't mention fungus. How can you tell if it is that? I always thought a fungus would smell bad wouldn't it? The nail isn't raised, hasn't been damaged and doesn't smell. I don't know exactly when it appeared because I only noticed it when I removed my nail varnish, which wasn't chipped or damaged as I guess it would have been if it had been knocked. I am hoping I am just paranoid now....
Avatar n tn Then went on line to a vitamin store and bought three different treatmnts for toe nail fungus. The one thing I used 2-3 times a day was nail repair tea tree oil and I bought oreagano oil caps and opened one of themand put the oil in the nail repair. It worked really well. I have been able to keep it under control. I use this 1 -2 times everyday! I apply it after every shower.
Avatar m tn There is a liquid they can give you to take internally for that. And soaking feet in water with tea will kill nail fungus and athlets foot. The tannic acid kills it. Just thought I would share.
1430129 tn?1283281475 I have a nail fungus that I've dealt with for nearly two years. I have had my doctor prescribe cream, I also took Lamisil (spelling?) I went to the dermatologist with my son yesterday, and he told me to file the side of my nail with the fungus all the way down, he said in order to get rid of the fungus that's in my nail, I have to get rid of that part of my nail. Is this true? I also think I have a fungus on one of my toenails.
Avatar f tn I might be in the wrong forum as well but I was prescribed lamisil after a positive test for Onychomycosis on my toenails. I was told to take one tablet a day for 3 months. My doctor did check my liver before starting and he called to say everything was normal and to go forth with the treatment. I've heard so many bad things from hair loss, death, loss of taste and I'm so scared.
Avatar n tn I have red spots on head of my penis. thought it was a fungus, but nothing helps.
