Common Questions and Answers about Tramadol withdrawal symptoms how long

Avatar f tn So, I'm just wondering how long withdrawal from Tramadol usually lasts. I have been doing a lot better lately; the brain zaps are very infrequent, and I usually feel okay on just 2mgs of Suboxone a day. I want to stop taking the Sub when the withdrawal from Tramadol should be over, but I heard that Tramadol withdrawal lasts longer than opiates. I'm getting excited because I might not even need an SSRI, as I am feeling much better from the Serotonin withdrawal symptoms.

9704730 tn?1405741284 I am finishing my 3rd day clean from 15 years of being chained to tramadol. This is the hardest thing I have ever done. How long does this pain from withdrawal last? ?? I am scared of figuring out how to live and function without this drug. I have been on it so long I don't remember how I was without it.
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone has any idea as to about how long certain w/d symptoms from Tramadol last? I have not had any Tramadol in 11 days and I am having severe GI upset (abdominal cramping and diarrhea) and the restless legs at night are terrible. can't sleep to save my life right now. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn m barely getting any sleep and I seem to be breathing shallowly. Even at this dose, could I be experiencing withdrawal symptoms? If so, how long can I expect this to continue?
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum. Getting here and looking for answers is the first step. The withdrawal is uncomfortable at the least, but it's a 14 day span at the most for the physical symptoms. How much and how long and what drug have you been using. There is always someone here who can offer more specific advice.
Avatar f tn Hi Marilyn, I was on Tramadol for 4 years before being switched to stronger medicines. How long have you been taking the Tramadol? My doctor replaced 1/2 of my daily Tramadol dose with Vicodin and I continued that for a year. I did get very uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms from the Tramadol when that switch was made. However...
Avatar n tn i recently started taking ultram after seeing my doctor and asking for a non-narcotic pain reliever. i have had serious problems with norco and lortab in the past. i recently started going to aa and have quit drinking and smoking, so naturally even though i have serious back pain i wanted OFF THE DRUGS. well, i switched from norco to ultram and when i ran out, i have started withdrawal REALLY bad. this is worse than i have ever experienced with the previous "narcotic" drugs.

Avatar f tn I have been taking tramadol for 7 years. I knew I was addicted to it because of how bad I felt when I didn't take it. I decided to come off it about 6 weeks ago and have suffered with a lot of very unpleasant symptoms. I am still suffering them now and wondering what do I do about it? How long is it going to go on? I used to take up to 1000 mg a day, and now I'm the proverbial bear with the permanent sore head. I have had enough of feeling like this, it's horrible.
Avatar f tn I've been trying to stop Tramadol since having a hip injected. I thought maybe the insomnia and jumpiness was from the steroids. Hands and feet hurt, but heat helps. I've been using 50mg tramadols about 6 or 8 a day for 7 years with Vicodan one or two at bed if Tram didn't work. No sleep except for maybe an hour or two in a week. Last Tramadol was over 24hrs ago. What are the symptoms of withdrawal? How long til this ends? I'm getting reallllllly tired.
1178983 tn?1279663655 Taking an opiate for an extended period of time usually results in some level of dependence and abrupt discontinuation of the medication can lead to withdrawal symptoms resulting in a failed attempt at discontinuation. The maximum daily dosage of Tramadol in a 24 hour period is 400mg and as such your dosage is not usually associated with long term effects due to being below the maximum recommended daily dosage.
Avatar n tn How long must one take Tramadol for the w/d to set in? My Dr. replaced vics with Tramadol and I have taken it as directed for 5 days. 2 every 6 hrs. I almost didn't fill the script out of fear of possible opiate like w/ds, but I did and have taken it for 5 days now. If I start tapering today will I still suffer bad w/d's? If I can avoid the w/d I'll deal with the physical pain.
Avatar f tn Have been reading a lot of posts, but havent seen anything yet that might give me an indication of how long symptoms will last, but will keep looking. Still have to work out how to manage chronic pain from back and fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn He has not taken a tablet since the night before last and is really suffering but is determined not to take another, does anyone out there have any idea how long it takes for these withdrawal symptons to pass as I am realy worried about the affect this is having on his mental health, he has started to say that he would be better off going for a walk with one of his rifles and sadly I am concerned that this is not just talk.
Avatar n tn If I taper slowly off of tramadol, can I avoid withdrawal symptoms all together? Or will I feel withdrawal pains no matter what?
Avatar n tn The withdrawal effect is nasty, it should be tapered off gradually to get rid off it to minimize such withdrawals effects. How many mg was he taking for how long?Do I understand right if you said he used to take or is taking 10 pills a day or is 10mg a day? I don't think there is such low dose as 10 mg, I heard of 50mg minimum, so if it is 10 pills a day no matter how many mg each is is a strong dependence he is on, the more mg the worse it is.
Avatar f tn I was checked by a nurse practitioner who says my heart and lungs are perfect, etc. Are these rather bizarre developments basically withdrawal from Tramadol? I do take Calmes Forte to help me sleep at night and have had no problems with sleep. From my reading I do understand that weaning off of this drug can be quite an ordeal but I would like to rule out other issues. Thanks for any suggestions or experience with this drug.
Avatar m tn My doctor doesn’t think it will still be the tramadol as she thinks the withdrawal will have gone by now. I think it is the Tramadol. Do you think it might still be the tramadol 45 to 50 days after stopping (cold turky from 400 to 500 mg daily) making me feel very uneasy and panicky?
Avatar n tn I just need to know if I should wean off slowly and how long these withdrawal symptoms will last. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar n tn So after a few days, any withdrawal you feel is going to be a tramadol withdrawal and not a hydrocodone withdrawal. And yes, it will be worse, there are many more horror stories about tram than hydrocodone. I had a doctor try to take me off of hydrocodone by giving me tramadol a few years ago when I was stopping meds after a surgery, and the withdrawals were terrible.
Avatar f tn m looking for the Thomas recipe but can only get it for opiates and Tramadol seems to have different withdrawal symptoms than other opiates.
Avatar f tn I took a tramadol yesterday and today and it eased the withdrawal some. Should I take tramadol for about a week or should I just not take it at all. I know that it too is addictive but wasn't sure if I would be dependent on it after a week. I am afraid that it is just going to prolong my withdrawal and make it last longer. Has anyone been through a similar situation that can give me some input?
