Avatar f tn Ok, I've been taking hydrocodone for quite I few years now. It started out taking 5's as prescribed and went downhill from there. As of just over 24 hrs ago, I took my last vicodin i'm fine chasing it. its not even helping my pain anymore. My normal day dosage ended up being up to 120Mg a day of norco. It wasn't phasing me, even at that massive dosage. My question is, how long will the actually physical symptoms of withdrawal last?
Avatar n tn I am trying to find out what the withdrawl symptoms are and feel like from tramadol. I am prescribed 4 pills a day along with an antibiotic for a toothache and I took the tramadol faithfully for 1 week the pain subsided so I only took it if I felt pain in my tooth. I didn't need it for 2 days and after the 2nd day I was really sore, body wise and was very irritable. Were these signs of withdrawl of tramadol?
9704730 tn?1405741284 I will be working with the doctor who helped me in accordance with the doctor who had me on tramadol for 13 years to compile a journal of symptoms/duration of withdrawal in the hopes to enlighten those that still believe tramadol does not have a down side. There are still many doctors who believe that it is not addictive or even physically depending. Anyone who would like to share their imput on tramadol withdrawal so I can pass it along please message me.

Avatar f tn I was checked by a nurse practitioner who says my heart and lungs are perfect, etc. Are these rather bizarre developments basically withdrawal from Tramadol? I do take Calmes Forte to help me sleep at night and have had no problems with sleep. From my reading I do understand that weaning off of this drug can be quite an ordeal but I would like to rule out other issues. Thanks for any suggestions or experience with this drug.
Avatar n tn If I taper slowly off of tramadol, can I avoid withdrawal symptoms all together? Or will I feel withdrawal pains no matter what?
Avatar n tn all narcotics when taken for any duration have withdrawl symptoms. it depends on the strength, the amounts taken, and the length of time you were on them. i have degenerative disk disease, degenerative arthritis, and have run the gamut of narcotics for many years. i was sooo glad to find tramadol- not a narcotic, long lasting and very effective on chronic pain. be careful!!!!!! the withdrawls are worse than any narcotic!
Avatar n tn Yes, you may be experiencing withdrawal symptoms. The withdrawal is unusual with tramadol; some people have very uncomfortable symptoms, and others have none at all. Starting the Cymbalta may reduce your withdrawal to some extent, as Cymbalta is a serotonin (and norepinephrine) reuptake blocker, and some of the withdrawal from Tramadol comes from changes in serotonin activity. The withdrawal is not 'dangerous', so do your best to avoid concentrating on them.
Avatar f tn It’s not helping us with the pain, we just taking it so to not get the bad withdrawal symptoms. I have appointment with my doctor June 6, I want to tell him about Suboxone. Anyone has used suboxone to help with withdrawal symptoms? Please write or email me at; ***@****. We did tried tapering down but was very hard, the pain was horrible, the flu like symptoms were so bad, diarrhea, vomiting, what’s worst depression and I felt like I can’t breathe.
680303 tn?1239984840 Hi Dylan, The answer to your question is really going to be different for different people. Please read my answer earlier tonight, about tramadol withdrawal-- the issue isn't the withdrawal, because most people (by far) go back to using over and over. Yes, everyone says 'not me-- not after what I went through!!' EVERYONE says that, and thinks that. So I encourage you to set a limit-- say 'if I relapse ONCE, that shows I need treatment'.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum. Getting here and looking for answers is the first step. The withdrawal is uncomfortable at the least, but it's a 14 day span at the most for the physical symptoms. How much and how long and what drug have you been using. There is always someone here who can offer more specific advice.
9704730 tn?1405741284 t take it please. From what my best friend said of her withdrawal from oxy then her withdrawal from tramadol she would choose the oxy.
Avatar f tn My doctor replaced 1/2 of my daily Tramadol dose with Vicodin and I continued that for a year. I did get very uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms from the Tramadol when that switch was made. However... My doctor a year later completely took me off the Tramadol and replaced it with Morphine ER with Percocet for break through pain and I had no withdrawal symptoms from stopping the Tramadol at all!!!
Avatar m tn For example, hydrocodone withdrawal symptoms may grow stronger for twenty-four to seventy-two hours and then gradually decline over a period of seven to fourteen days. The duration of hydrocodone withdrawal symptoms varies greatly from person to person. As Audrea indicated if your friend requires this opiate for pain control there are ways that it can be dispensed, such as through a loved one that may be successful.
Avatar f tn Tramadol is known to result in withdrawal effects when it is immediately stopped. The symptoms might include: Anxiety, sweating, insomnia, chills, pain, nausea, tremors, diarrhea, upper respiratory symptoms, hallucinations (rarely). The manufacturer states that tapering off of the medication may reduce the chance of these withdrawal effects, however, no specific tapering schedule is mentioned.
1035021 tn?1296820707 What really freaked me out is that I just read that even missing a single dose of Xanax one can have the withdrawal symptoms of it!!!??? I started to take Xanax (Alprazolam) because my Cardiologist prescribed it to me, cause my anxiety was causing me to have high blood pressure and heartbeat levels, with this I started to calm down on my anxiety but never have realized of what people said about how intense the withdrawals are until yesterday when I have to miss a dose.
Avatar n tn Now, however, I am certain that taking large doses of this medication indeed has severe withdrawal symptoms because after I bought a small ranch and had tons of physical work to do, I started taking Tramadol again because my pain was so much worse than usual. A week and a half ago I ran out of the medication and took ibuprofen instead of refilling it since I had less pain than usual. Within 2 days I thought I had severe food poisoning.
Avatar f tn I found this on Wiki and it does say it is and opiod and also says this - Tramadol is associated with the development of physical dependence and a severe withdrawal syndrome.[59] Tramadol causes typical opiate-like withdrawal symptoms as well as atypical withdrawal symptoms including seizures. The atypical withdrawal symptoms are probably related to tramadol's effect on serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake.

Avatar n tn Less commonly reported side effects include itching, sweating, dry mouth, diarrhea, rash, visual disturbances, and vertigo. Some patients who received tramadol have reported seizures. Abrupt withdrawal of tramadol may result in anxiety, sweating, insomnia, rigors, pain, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, and hallucinations.

Avatar m tn If you take tramadol daily for more than a week or so, you will have 'discontinuation symptoms' or withdrawal. But you can avoid most of those symptoms by lowering the dose over time-- say by taking half of your dose for a few days, then half again of that dose for a few days, and so on. The problem is that SOME people cannot taper off medications that have addictive properties.
