Avatar f tn I was checked by a nurse practitioner who says my heart and lungs are perfect, etc. Are these rather bizarre developments basically withdrawal from Tramadol? I do take Calmes Forte to help me sleep at night and have had no problems with sleep. From my reading I do understand that weaning off of this drug can be quite an ordeal but I would like to rule out other issues. Thanks for any suggestions or experience with this drug.
Avatar n tn If I taper slowly off of tramadol, can I avoid withdrawal symptoms all together? Or will I feel withdrawal pains no matter what?
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum. Getting here and looking for answers is the first step. The withdrawal is uncomfortable at the least, but it's a 14 day span at the most for the physical symptoms. How much and how long and what drug have you been using. There is always someone here who can offer more specific advice.
Avatar n tn Less commonly reported side effects include itching, sweating, dry mouth, diarrhea, rash, visual disturbances, and vertigo. Some patients who received tramadol have reported seizures. Abrupt withdrawal of tramadol may result in anxiety, sweating, insomnia, rigors, pain, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, and hallucinations.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 24 year old registered nurse, and I have read all of these postings and researched tramadol, and have realized that I am addicted to it. I have recently been experiencing dizziness, a feeling like I'm coming out of my skin, diarrhea and nausea. I never would have believed it was tramadol withdrawal. I just took my normal dose of it, and my symptoms are gone, I'm taking that as a big sign of addiction.
Avatar n tn today is day 4 of withdrawal from Dr prescribed 50mg tramadol. I was taking 300-400 mg daily for 2 months for pain post bad hysterectomy a year ago. I just discovered drug dependency a couple of weeks ago when I quit taking the drug for a day due to no pain. I had the worst night of my life and got relief almost immediately after taking the drug again. I have taken hydrophone, codeine, Vicodin, and others post surgery as the Dr recommended and have never had a problem with addiction.
Avatar f tn The length of time withdrawal symptoms occur can range from a couple of days to weeks depending on how high your dose was and how long you were on the drug. Withdrawal symptoms can be reduced by discontinuing use of the drug slowly (i.e., gradually reducing the daily dose).
Avatar f tn I found this on Wiki and it does say it is and opiod and also says this - Tramadol is associated with the development of physical dependence and a severe withdrawal syndrome.[59] Tramadol causes typical opiate-like withdrawal symptoms as well as atypical withdrawal symptoms including seizures. The atypical withdrawal symptoms are probably related to tramadol's effect on serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake.
Avatar n tn Hello. I am now in my 4th day of withdrawal from this evil drug and I don't know how much longer I can take this! Please tell me it gets better. All I can think about now is giving up and going to get some more tramadol b/c I do not know if I can do this anymore! This drug is so evil! Anybody with any suggestions or words of wisdom? I tried to do this by myself b/c I was too ashamed to tell anyone. Big mistake. I would tell anybody thinking about getting of tramadol to ask for help.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I found this site through a Google search and am glad to have found a community of people going through the same thing I am. I'm sure you guys don't need another separate Tramadol withdrawal post, but as similar as the other withdrawal stories seem to be with my own experiences, there is one part which differs greatly with me and I only hope someone may have some insight. Two years ago I tried Tramadol for a week.
Avatar m tn Is there any way that will help me come off of this horrible drug and are anybody out there experiencing these symptoms.
Avatar f tn You are most likely in withdrawal from the tramadol ..... Trams are not a strict opiate and they are very strong on the serotonin issue - they are about as much an antidepressant as they are a pain med.... put tramadol or tram withdrawal in the search engine and read a few posts.... Tramadol take awhile to get off of after a lengthy habit - - Did you volunteer the tramadol information to the doc or did you expect him to have a crystal ball around?
Avatar f tn Tramadol is known to result in withdrawal effects when it is immediately stopped. The symptoms might include: Anxiety, sweating, insomnia, chills, pain, nausea, tremors, diarrhea, upper respiratory symptoms, hallucinations (rarely). The manufacturer states that tapering off of the medication may reduce the chance of these withdrawal effects, however, no specific tapering schedule is mentioned.

Avatar n tn I will never take this stuff again due to bad withdrawal symptoms. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn A friend of mine gave me her Tramadol to try and I was assured that she had been taking it on and off for years with O withdrawal. I took it for almost 2 months while grieving the loss of my dog. I decided on Monday to stop all together and could not believe how awful I feel. NOTHING like coming off of Oxy, but still extremeley uncomfortable and "couch bound", flu symptoms and horrible headache. I could not believe it.

Avatar m tn I have found that tramadol can cause the same withdrawal symptoms as Percocet or Vicodin .. The great thing about tramadol is it seems to be more effective against pain lasting longer than the others making it easier to space the doses further apart in turn making it easier to lower your doses slowly .. But you should consult your dr before you just quit. My dr told me tramadol was not addictive .. He was incorrect so hopefully your dr is a little more informed then mine .
Avatar n tn So after a few days, any withdrawal you feel is going to be a tramadol withdrawal and not a hydrocodone withdrawal. And yes, it will be worse, there are many more horror stories about tram than hydrocodone. I had a doctor try to take me off of hydrocodone by giving me tramadol a few years ago when I was stopping meds after a surgery, and the withdrawals were terrible.
Avatar m tn Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Do not stop using tramadol suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, chills, hallucinations, trouble sleeping, or breathing problems. Talk to your doctor about how to avoid withdrawal symptoms when stopping the medication. Do not crush the tramadol tablet. This medicine is for oral (by mouth) use only.
Avatar m tn Tramadol is a very fully drug...but, for simplicity sake, think of it as an antidepressant and opiate combined. Add with that the risk of seizures, and you'll be fighting withdrawal from a drug with a ton more withdrawal symptoms. Best just to bite the bullet and wrestle with the demon you brought...and, not start a fight with a new one.
Avatar m tn 6 years is a long time. It will take about a week for the physical withdrawals to go away but the mental will last for months. You should try to see somebody for help. You need to get help so you can help your daughter.
Avatar n tn What Sandee has described are Withdrawal symptoms from long term use of the drug. Using Tramadol for a week should not produce those types of symptoms. I am sorry that you're feeling this way and like I said, call your Doctor and discuss these symptoms with them. Please take care and good luck.
