Avatar f tn You're making the right decision. Tramadol withdrawal makes hydrocodone withdrawal look like a day at beach! I've been through both, and I know. It's AWFUL! Just get rid of it. It's not even a good pain killer anyway! You'll end up having pain that is CAUSED by tramadol if you stay on it long enough. Just get rid of it, and move on! BTW....sorry about the hands. Keep soaking them and using ice and heat and IBU. You'll get much more relief that way!
Avatar n tn today is day 4 of withdrawal from Dr prescribed 50mg tramadol. I was taking 300-400 mg daily for 2 months for pain post bad hysterectomy a year ago. I just discovered drug dependency a couple of weeks ago when I quit taking the drug for a day due to no pain. I had the worst night of my life and got relief almost immediately after taking the drug again. I have taken hydrophone, codeine, Vicodin, and others post surgery as the Dr recommended and have never had a problem with addiction.
Avatar n tn ve been using a lot because I already have a high tolerance to opiates, what I wanted to know is if withdrawal symtoms of Morphine are any worse than Tramadol, because I think I may need to progress to that eventually. I have permanent nerve damage.
Avatar f tn Today is day 5 since I have went CT off my DOC. I had taken a few tramadol to help me get though the horrible withdrawal symptoms the first 2 or 3 days but I flushed them too because I felt it was just setting me back. But anyways...Day 5 and I actually feel like I am going to make it though this big ol speed bumb! :-) I'm by far 100% but I do feel much better about myself know that I am not on drugs and have no desire to be.
Avatar f tn Tramadol is known to result in withdrawal effects when it is immediately stopped. The symptoms might include: Anxiety, sweating, insomnia, chills, pain, nausea, tremors, diarrhea, upper respiratory symptoms, hallucinations (rarely). The manufacturer states that tapering off of the medication may reduce the chance of these withdrawal effects, however, no specific tapering schedule is mentioned.
Avatar m tn I am hooked to valium-10 yrs.,Tramadol-5 yrs.If i don't take them,I feel depressed. Is it that the drugs are giving relief from depression( I am depressed as early as childhood ).
Avatar m tn m in day 5 off of the Tramadol and thinking I might as well tough it out. Threw the rest of my Tramadol out. How much longer can I expect to not sleep?
Avatar f tn Somewhere during that 3 week period I began taking tramadol because it would relax me during the withdrawal from the other meds. It's been 6 days since I was taken off Adderall so I took my last tramadol on Wednesday night lasting me through Thursday (today is Saturday). After I stopped the tramadol, I got a new list of symptoms to I called my doc and he says it's from tramadol withdrawal. How can I be having withdrawal now when I ever did before?
Avatar f tn I have been taking Tramadol, between 200-300 mgs per day for moderate to severe pain in my colon where I have IBS and nerve damage. It has worked remarkably well managing my pain for app. a year now. It is gradual declining in its effectiveness but in the last two days, I feel no pain release. The problem is that lately I have been developing tolerance.

Avatar m tn Hello, everyone. I'm another victim of tramadol addiction. I was prescribed this medication when I was 15. Became dependent to it when I was 16. Now, I'm 21 and still can't get off of this drug. Most of the problem lies with me. A part of me is so angry and wanting to fight a cold-turkey attempt. But the other half of me just doesn't remember life before tramadol. So I keep submitting.
Avatar f tn Tramadol is a (insert foulest words you can think of) withdrawal & due to the effexor like antidepressant component, it tends not to be linear. The good news is that after 5 days you should be due for some relief from the worst even without the sub. It can however, take a bit longer for normal sleep to return. Nyquil or phenergan can help with the insomnia. If you want to get support from others enduring tram withdrawal, there is a dedicated thread at:- http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn d never let me go into withdrawal and I believed them, but the first time I went into withdrawal was due to not receiving my script in the mail. I didn't have a clue it was withdrawal until later. I've also gone into withdrawal from the stomach bug/food poisoning when I couldn't keep my medications down (twice.) I wound up in the ER once and hospitalized once. Everyone's pain is different and we all react differently to different meds/treatments.
Avatar m tn Tramadol is Tramadol...Whether listed as Tramadol HCL or Tramadol. It's a chemical vastly like Effexor but without opiate properties. Think of it as a stripped down version of codeine with antidepressant properties. Ultram is nothing more than the Brand name for Tramadol and Ultram ER is a timed release of Tramadol. Ultracet is merely Tramdol and Tylenol in the same pill.
Avatar f tn Be patient with yourself and know that it will get better. I did the Tramadol withdrawal too. You are at the right place. Keep posting, you will get a ton of support and it is so helpful. You can do this. And I promise you will feel better than you can imagine when you are clean!
Avatar f tn Do you have someone that can be with you through this? Usually the hard part of Tramadol withdrawal is 2 to 3 days and then it should be getting better. Have you called you prescribing physician, he might be able to help you with a muscle relaxant or other medications that might give you some relieve. Try bath tub for your muscles ,that might give you a bit of relieve as well. My prayers are with you ..
Avatar n tn my doctor told me it was NON ADDICTIVE. HE LIED! I dont wanna feel the withdrawls that i did last week so how can i wean myself off of them with out feeling this way? im down to 150-200mg a day now and i cant imagine just cold turkey... any sudgestions?? help me please... Avatar m tn I have been on Tramadol for 3 years with lortab for break through pain. Tramadol has worked wonders for me. I have most of my active life back. Don't know about withdrawal as I have had no reason to come off of the Tramadol.
Avatar m tn Because of its opiate receptor agonist qualities, physical dependence & significant withdrawal is common with tramadol even for those who don't experience any high or addiction. Tramadol also includes an antidepressant which seems to make withdrawal more prolonged & uncomfortable than straight opiates. I never craved or enjoyed tramadol but ended up taking it way too long because the withdrawals were so bad.
Avatar m tn Yes it will delay the withdrawal because Tramadol hits on many of the same Mu receptors on the brain, it has a horrible withdrawal by itself. Many people use Tramadol to temporarily avoid withdrawal from more powerful opiates until they are able to get more. It's a step down from the subs and hydro but still pretty powerful. They used subs for 3 days while you were doing the detox? Not sure what's the point of that besides maybe stepping you down but 3 days is very short for tapering.
Avatar n tn Thank you to all of you - you've given me a ton to consider! I'm very open with my doctor about my use. He's awesome - he's avialable via email & phone. My reason for not wanting to request yet another refill is really for him - I don't want him red flagged by the insurance companies since they don't care about the pain - they just see a bunch of vicodine flying out the window.
501205 tn?1227345442 Posted that at about the same time - but it definitely appears you are right.
Avatar m tn I was apparently just booted from my pain clinic after being a patient in excellent standing for 6-years, one week ago I came up 4-days short on my tramadol(two 50mg day x 3 = 300mg daily everyday for six years)! I'm not really certain what prompted this, but the timing was terrible as my kidneys are causing excruciating pain.
Avatar f tn What you describe are typical symptoms of withdrawal from Tramadol. Your doctor could help IF he knew what he was doing... There are meds that help with the symptoms that can be prescribed. Do you have another doctor by chance? Tramadol contains an opiate AND an antidepressant component similar to Effexor. Some folks begin an antidepressant after stopping Tramadol. You need to find an understanding doctor to assist you with furthering your taper but you're doing fine so far.
