Avatar m tn Hey guys, Im new here and wanted some advice. Ive been taking Tramadol and Hydrocodone together for about three months off and on, perscribed of course, then I started reading how bad withdrawals can be from the Tramadol, so I quit taking it cold turkey with little side effects. Now I'm getting ready to quit this Hydrocodone, just a little scared from withdrawal and what to expect. will it be bad after just three months. averaged about 40 mgs. daily.
Avatar m tn I would only imagine that the physician, who has been prescribing you the Tramadol so freely, should be willing to help you taper it and help you with the side effects of the withdrawals that you will be experiencing. I would not recommend stopping it cold turkey as the withdrawal from it is essentially the same as the one for the opiates. It usually takes several weeks of the really nasty symptoms followed by several more of just insomnia and general weakness and depression.
Avatar f tn hey marilyn, good for you wanting to get off the trams. you can not go cold turkey from tramadol. it is very dangerous and can cause seizures. please talk to your doctor and get a taper plan. tapering is the only safe way to get off tramadol. tramadol withdrawal has a withdrawal symptom that can cause brain zaps. this can be quite uncomfortable. you can do this with the help of your doctor.
Avatar f tn Or did you just try to go Cold Turkey for a while? Going Cold Turkey really is not going to be an option for you, I may be wrong, but I doubt it. I can be of some help, but I need more information. How many Trams have you had in the last week. How many per day are you at now, if any? I have been tapering down on Tramadol myself, on 13 Sep 2008 I was taking 13 per day. Now I'm at 7 per day. So I know what you are going through. I am in the process of quitting myself.
Avatar f tn I have taking tramadol for about a year 300mg a day I stopped cold turkey on Sunday I took my last two Sunday morning I have been through ****. Avatar n tn It has been over 13 days, and still I feel like I can barely function, like I have a flu bug. I decided to go cold turkey, because it is easier for me that way. Any answers on the length of withdrawal that I might yet experience?
Avatar f tn There are a number of ways to do it. Cold turkey ( that I do not suggest) , medically supervised, titrating or inpatients rehab. In most case the withdrawal symptoms last anywhere from 3 to 5 days. If you can have medical assistance at least by phone in case you need it is always better.

Avatar n tn Day 11 from cold-turkey Tramadol withdrawal (except for those two pills around day 7) and I actually feel a weird sort of rebound energy, almost "manic" type high. I was talking to my daughter at dinner like I was on some sort of upper. A real "Chatty Cathy." Can anyone say if this is "normal" or common? I'm hoping it's just my mind telling me it's good to be alive after this horrible experience.
Avatar f tn hello and welcome. no you cant go cold turkey from tramadol. it is dangerous. there is a risk of seizures. it has to be tapered. how long have you been on it and at what dose? you need to ask your doctor for a taper plan. that is the only safe way.

Avatar m tn Hello, everyone. I'm another victim of tramadol addiction. I was prescribed this medication when I was 15. Became dependent to it when I was 16. Now, I'm 21 and still can't get off of this drug. Most of the problem lies with me. A part of me is so angry and wanting to fight a cold-turkey attempt. But the other half of me just doesn't remember life before tramadol. So I keep submitting.
1986130 tn?1326767295 im on day 2 going cold turkey from tramadol and think im dying....
Avatar n tn Mr Junig I currently quit cold turkey on tramadol and was taking a very high dose and am having really bad withdrawal. How long do you think i will feel this way or what can i do to get the opiates out of my body faster than just sitting it out?
Avatar m tn Tramadol is a synthetic opiate, and it is addictive. You are not taking a lot, so it might not be so bad. If this is your first time, and you have not been abusing your script, I would think that you should probably be ok. I remember the first time I quit, I was taking a much heavier dose of hydrocodone, but the w/ds ended quickly. I am no professional, but if you want to quit, I would encourage you to go a day without your pill and see how you feel.
Avatar n tn It has been almost a year since I posted last, and my intake of tramadol has been going up and down since then. Maybe you remember that I quit cold turkey last summer for six weeks, but due to the severe w/d that never lessened (and neither did my workload) I started again and maintained with two a day for several months. Because of the never-ending health problems, new dental infections and surgeries and on top of this a painful ulcer due to problems with my oldest son, I started again (sigh).
Avatar f tn I have been taking 200mg of tramadol everyday for a year for back pain, and I was wondering is this a lot? And how bad will the withdrawal be on this dosage? Thanks for ur time!!
