Avatar f tn Nucynta (Tapentadol) is used to treat moderate to severe pain that is expected to last for a short time. Tapentadol is in a class of medications called opiate (narcotic) analgesics. It works by changing the way the body responds to pain. Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of tapentadol and gradually increase your dose until your pain is controlled. Your doctor may adjust your dose at any time during your treatment if your pain is not controlled.
Avatar f tn I have not heard anything about a new procedure but I did hear that there is a new pain medication called Nucynta (Tapentadol) which is a mu-opiod agonist analgesic. It is structurally similar to Tramadol.
Avatar f tn I have been using tramadol since ages and I am now out of it just because my doctor thinks that I am getting addicted to it so he has prescribed me Tapentadol, But it is not working for me at all. Is there a way I can get it prescribed online and get it I do have an old prescription, If that can help and get me a new one along with my medication. Please help me I am in real pain. Because of this I have increased my depression pills.
Avatar f tn Sigh, I hear you sister, regarding addictive personality. I have fought mine (oddly enough, successfully) for more than 35 years. I am bi-polar, and klonopin (clonazapam) is part of my medicinal "cocktail". I take great care to stay below my daily allowance because I'm petrified of becoming addicted. I am also suffering from desperately excruciating arthritis pain for which I am prescribed nucynta, soma and tramadol.
1855076 tn?1337115303 While its analgesic actions have been compared to tramadol and oxycodone, its general potency is somewhere between tramadol and morphine in effectiveness. Tapentadol is a new molecular entity that is structurally similar to Tramadol. It has opioid and non-opioid activity in a single compound." End It sounds promising that this may have "reset" your sympathetic nerve. I sincerely hope that you will not return to your previous pain levels.
Avatar f tn Tapentadol (Trade name Nucynta) is a centrally-acting analgesic with a unique dual mode of action as an agonist at the μ-opioid receptor and as a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.[2] It is considered to have a potency between tramadol and morphine.[3]. Tapentadol is a new molecular entity that is strucurally similar to tramadol (Ultram) It has opioid and nonopioid acitivity in a single compound. Tapentadol is FDA approved for the treatment of moderate to severe acute pain.
Avatar n tn t know anything about Sub, except it is suppose to be three times as strong as Tramadol. And since you are on Tramadol now, I say stay on that and taper off that. Why keep bouncing back and forth from one to the other? It will only bring you pain and discomfort.
403399 tn?1201833095 The only reason why Tramadol (Ultracet, Ultram, etc.) is not considered a narcotic is because at the moment it is unscheduled in the USA and pretty much everywhere else. It is fairly new being researched and first put on the market in the 90's.
Avatar n tn Vicodin is stronger then Tramadol. I think if you get put on tramadol you will be in alot more pain. My father inlaw takes it and it does nothing for him. I took it and it did nothing for me. Vicodin on the other hand did help my pain alittle. I would try to talk him into not doing it, ask him what is the main reason for changing your meds. I hate to say it but if you get them changed like that you will be in alot more pain. This is just my option. Tramadol did nothing for me.
Avatar n tn i have taken vicodin for about 10 years now. I have never increased the dosage or abuse the med. my dr recently put me on tramadol which i'll try anything. i am to take 2 tramadol twice daily or as needed along with 800 mg ibuprofen twice daily. i have not found any resolve with this medication (i have been on it 2 weeks). i also have not had any typical withdrawl symptoms from stopping the vicodin. i have degeneration of my t3 and t4 vertebre and spinal rotation and of course subluxation.
9351449 tn?1403920404 Hey Diana, I have zero experience with this drug, but when I searched it on web md, it scared the hell out of me. Also called tapentadol, taking the wrong dose can cause severe breathing problems, and taking it with other drugs can be a bigger problem. Not trying to alarm you, but there is no way to call your doc and ask him more about it? How many doses a day was it prescribed? I sent you a message earlier, and I got yours. Thanks for caring... You aren't alone, okay??
Avatar f tn Tramadol is just as addicting and worse to come off of .I would look into non narcotic aleratives . ...
Avatar f tn ultracet has acetominophen (tylenol) in them, and the tramadol doesnt. They can come in varying dosages. Why is he taking them? Does he want to quit? Tram is a dangerous drug to take and to stop, you have to taper down slowly or you could have seizures. You can have seizures from takign too many as well. How long has he been on them?
Avatar f tn Vicodin is a higher pain killer than tramadol. Tramadol to me is no different to tylenol, then i have some friends that are addicted to it. I am coming off of vicodin and i dont sugest anyone take it for any periods of time. I dont know your story but if possible i would stray from vicodin. LIke i said i have used them both and vicodin gave the the pain relief and the "high" i was looking for tramadol didnt even touch the pain.
Avatar f tn Here is an old thread talking about the differences between Ultram (which is just tramadol) vs. Ultracet (which is lower dose tram with added acet). Hope it is helpful: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn I have taken Vicodin for severe back pain and surgeries, now my doctor wants me to try tapentadol. She said it was a newer drug for moderate to sever back pain. I am so nervous considering the lack of knowledge of this medicine. I am okay with hydrocodone or percocet (spelling?
Avatar n tn I recently found myself in a position where I have no Vs and am unable to obtain any. My doc had given my Adderol for depression and for focusing so I can work. I find that when I'm going through the w/d, the adderol helps with the cravings and other w/d effects, except the sleepless nights, crazy legs and no appetite. I was doing up to 20 Vs a day for chronic back and neck pain from ruptured discs. So many of us have this problem.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have an almost 14yo pit bull that is on both Metacam and Tramadol. rimadyl is an NSAID, similar to metacam and some others. Tramadol is opiate based but considered safe for dogs. My pit was on rimadyl for a year or so, then we switched to metacam which the vet said was a little stronger, then after about 2 years we added the tramadol. Just last week we upped the tramadol as dogs can develop a tolerance just like humans.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Tramadol for about two years. I do not take more than I should, actually less, usually 200 mg, 250mg max a day. Works great. Allows me to work and keep up my household. Other than the addiction part what would be the long term problem with this? I am over 60 and have a lot of arthritis and back pain.
Avatar f tn s for 4 yrs and have tried many attempt to quit, yet failed. This time I am 6 days sober but I made the mistake of replacing it with tramadol. Did some research and found that it's not the best way Bc you too can be addicted. What can I do for w/d I have two small children and a husband with a full time 6day work week. any recommendations. I don't take tramadol too often but only these 6 days off Vic's ? Today I have not taken anything but B12&alieve.
Avatar f tn I already feel better and feel so encouraged by many that have kicked this and are living a life again. Tramadol is evil and the physical side effects are real. My question is....when do I know that my withdrawal symptoms are physical or mental? I know the big ones...the nausea, cramping, muscle aches...etc... But, my inability to quit thinking about it. Today..I felt like I couldn't function. Not so much physically hurting....just miserable. How do you kick the mental part.
