Tramadol vs oxycontin

Common Questions and Answers about Tramadol vs oxycontin

ultracet

See, that is what confuses me. I was told by a Dr. that he would give me tramadol vs the hydro b/c it was non-narcotic. It is then indeed a narcotic I take it. See, this Dr was not my family doc..my fam. doc sent me there. It was a pain management clinic. Although the new Dr. still had me on my hydro, he did want me to taper from them. So when he suggested giving me the tramadol I bailed on him faster than lighning. I told my Dr. I will no longer see this man.
I'm confused about everything I've been hearing about tramadol (Ultram). I understand that it should be used with caution (or not used at all) amongst abuse-prone individuals, but the other info I've seen seems contradictive. I've seen some treatment centers advertise that they use tramadol to help with opiate withdrawal, yet I've also read that taking tramadol during opiate withdrawal can INCREASE withdrawal symptoms. Can someone set me straight on this? Thanks in advance.
Hi I've been suffering from severe eye pain and my pain control is not working well enough. I'm currently on Dihydrocodeine 30 mg 6 times daily. And I'm wondering if tramadol is stronger, the information I've found on this drug conflicts and I'm just wondering if you could tell me if tramadol would be stronger than the drug i'm currently using and wether it is adictive. And what type of drug is it, the only type of drug which helps my pain are narcotics nothing else does anything.
They don't give me the same high as HC or Vicodin, but I have heard they are still addictive. Any advice?
well, Oxycodone is a more powerful narcorin painkiller in general.. But you have to rememebr that people react to different meds differently as well. Because I know that for me oxycodone(my drug of choice) gives me a stronger buzz, longer pain relief, and worse withdrawls.. But, I know people that say the Hydrocodone does them better and makes their pain better than oxycodone. I even know a girl who prefers Darvon's(darvocet) over anything, and it is one of the weakest narcotics available..
30 pm. I also take blood pressure meds and meds for high chelestol. I have an appointment tomorrow with my Rheumy to see if my meds need to be upped some. I do understand how having chronic pain and chronic fatigue can make you have feelings of checking out, been there more than once, but then I think of how badly my family would be hurt and how much I want to be here with them. If you need to talk, I'm here.
Hi Ryan, Why did you write to Ellen that Klonopin could worsen her depression? I have been on Klonopin for about a month and a half and I have noticed an increase in depression (I am NOT on any anti depressants). Overall I just roll with it and try and stay positive and I started to get acupuncture along with talk therapy. This week I will see my p-doc and I'm sure all of this will come up in my visit. Do you think Klonopin causes weight gain as well?
MY PERSONAL DIARY OF OXYCONTIN WITHDRAWAL. May I briefly fill in a little background.I am David aged 55 and employed as a postman/driver/sorter, well up until 38 months ago I had never been into hospital, well boy was that about to change.
I had Fentanyl and took a while to jump from that to oxycontin. I didn't have trouble dropping from oxycontin to oxycodone. Mine's a long story with my own personal feelings and worries about addiction, though I'm just dependent Tylenol with codeine, IMO, isn't much better than tylenol and ibuprofen is probably better. Find the best docs, research the meds they want you on ... go in with full knowledge. When you do get good relief, then work on building yourself up and see how it goes.

My knee is actually starting to feel better and I prefer a 25MG dosage of tramadol vs. the whole pill. That is very strange IMO. The only thing that still ***** is now I am having trouble sleeping. Days 1-5 were fine with sleep, fine as in at least 4-5 hours of deep sleep but now its tossing and turning and maybe 1 hour in and out throughout the night. I think a large part of it is my back because I sleep on the couch a lot.

Howdy Tramadol Warriors! New space New day!
Day 22 Cold Turkey Tramadol ... I woke up HAPPY. I used to wake up happy all the time, before the Tramadol. Waking up happy is good. Then I tried to move. I had to use my hands and arms to get up out of bed. My body has been pushed as far as it will go. So after trying all my best tricks (aminos, coffee, food, vitamins, water) I finally stopped the struggle and called in sick for work. Tomorrow will be a busier day anyhow.
I broke my back about 18 months ago and have been on tramadol sinse then. I am now a true addict and dont like it. I want to get off of it but dont know what I could take instead. My GP is usless and asks me what i think i should take. He also thinks that the pain is in my head. I would be graitfull for any advice and help I can get.
ive had experience with tramadol, i used it recreationally every once ina while, but mainly would use it to help ease the wd's from my two DOC's Heroin or Oxycontin, which i snorted...i def. feel your pain, the tramadol wd can be very very serious as it also acts as a rapidly short-acting anti-depressant as well messing with seritonin levels,, so there is a chance of seizures from going cold turkey after being on high doses and for a really long time...
Long story short. I rapid detoxed off of oxycontin and percocet in Dec. 09. I had been on it for back surgery and couldn't get off of it. When I came home I was still in detox and wound up on clonidine and neurontin. Well, I couldn't take the neurontin. After quitting the neurontin in late January I still had major back pain. First my doc put me on tramadol, which I only took a couple of, after reading what it could be like getting off of from others on this site.
I HAVE BEEN TAKING ULTRAM FOR OVER A YEAR AS A BREAK THRU PAIN MED. IT IS NOT ADDICTING. I HAVE BEEN ON OXYCONTIN FOR THE SAME PERIOD AND THERE IS NO COMPARISON, FOR BOTH ADDICTION AND PAIN RELIEF. OXYCONTIN IS A MUCH BETTER PAIN RELEIVING DRUG. OR ASK YOUR DOC TO PRESCRIBE ORAMORPH.
