494623 tn?1278279352 I have recently been Prescribed Tramadol ( Zydol ) 50mg for Chronic Arthritic pain I wondered if anyone could tell me if I can take Paraceatamol or Ibuprofen at the same time ....... I am currently only taking 50mg of Tramadol every 4 hours but it isn't really doing much by itself for the pain.
3063937 tn?1352422855 There are some strong NSAIDS that the doctor might recommend depending on where your pain originates. But, please, know that Tramadol is addicting and I'm not sure it's fair to say that it's better than Norco. It's chemically different, though. It contains an antidepressant along with an opiate like combination.
1272082 tn?1343103540 Thank You all for your comments!!!! I finally found a combination that is working for me. I have no idea why it's working, but it is. I'm using Tramadol with a Bentyl. Tramadol is for pain and Bentyl is a muscle relaxer. The combination seems to be helping the POTS too. My pulse rate is staying somewhat normal and I'm hardly having the high tachy. I'm down to using them only twice a day. My foot is healing. It's not as painful as it was.
Avatar f tn Seeing this site has been a huge eye opener for me (and a source of hope) - the pain relief medication that most of you have access to is way beyond what I have been given in the UK. I only take 600mg of Tramadol and 3600mg of Gabapentin. I used to take dichlofenac but had to stop because of ulcers. I've asked for morphine but my doctors are reluctant to give it to me.
Avatar n tn Check with a pharmacist, but I think Tramadol pain relief is = to the pain relief of a similar dose of codeine.
Avatar f tn I have tried several other pain relief methods and non-narcotic meds. Please know that pain relief is not worth loosing my sobriety.
Avatar f tn I was given flexeril and tramadol for muscle spasms due to herniated discs. The tramadol did nothing for the pain, I was able to receive some relief from motrin instead. I can't take stronger opioids because they make me nauseous. Morphine doesn't work for me either. Are the two medications related?
888132 tn?1304667943 You like most of the rest of us need pain relief and this means taking pain meds. They are available for ppl like us so that we can lead a normal productive life...Participate in society you might say. You no doubt have a dependancy on the Tramadol and that is normal. With the Tramadol not working and you being dependant on it, you might want to consider seeing a Pain Specialist who are very knowlagable in treating your pain in a professional manner. Don't let society play a role in that.
2117997 tn?1339537769 I have taken Tramadol in the past for pain and had no withdrawals when I quit using it.
Avatar m tn Tramadol is Tramadol...Whether listed as Tramadol HCL or Tramadol. It's a chemical vastly like Effexor but without opiate properties. Think of it as a stripped down version of codeine with antidepressant properties. Ultram is nothing more than the Brand name for Tramadol and Ultram ER is a timed release of Tramadol. Ultracet is merely Tramdol and Tylenol in the same pill.
Avatar f tn Tramadol ***** worse than shots. Ive had 7 epidurals in under a year and countless cortisone shots in my elbows and shoulders. I have become addicted to other substances in my life, however. I didn't get any more pain relief than ibuprophen but when I went off the tramadol I had horrible withdraw. I'm sorry the shots hurt, pain is not fun but pain and addiction are worse. Hang in there.
Avatar f tn Is there any truely non narcotic, non-addictive pain relief that works for moderate to severe muscularskeletal pain??
1516809 tn?1345082764 Well the Tramadol does provide relief for the pain. I find that I need to take 150 mg, 50mg every six hours for relief and especially before bedtime so I can sleep without feeling discomfort in my legs. I never experience any pain in my lower back. I usually feel discomfort in my legs, and usually a jolt of pain when I first sit in a chair which then subsides. The Dicoflenac also provided no relief so the covering doctor prescribed Nambutone 500MG twice a day.
Avatar f tn m in pain alot. My dr. gave me tramadol. They do absolutely nothing for me yet I read about people being addicted to them. They're not a narcotic, are they?
Avatar f tn It produces a feeling of increased energy and gives a mood lift (it actually wouldn’t be a bad anti-depressant because of this) and the increased energy and mood lift can become as much a reason for the person taking it as for pain relief. If you stop taking Tramadol the withdrawal symptoms that last for several days are fairly unpleasant-a feeling of tiredness, restlessness, inability to sleep, rebound pain etc. The worst of these symptoms last for 3 or at the most 4 days.
996658 tn?1249675169 t blame the doctors for trying to prescribe a suitable alternative for narcotics. The properties of tramadol sound ideal for pain, antidepressant effects, weight loss and pain relief and considered a non narcotic.Perfect drug....wrong..Even if the regulators do not consider it a narcotic. It binds to opiate receptors. That is an opiate drug in my books..It will probably be moved to the narcotic list soon(I hope).
1535353 tn?1292709086 In Aug 2009 I went through the surgery to fuse those two levels together and since have had some relief. However I still deal with chronic pain every day. Just this Monday my pain doctor did the trail for the MyStim implant in my back. The purpose of this is to feel tingling sensations rather than pain. Sadly this trial run did not work and it was a nightmare. My doctor has since rudely said that I was reaching the point of not being able to be treated.
1627868 tn?1333886342 I am in A LOT of pain today!!! I can't hardly stand it! A little backround....One of the many doctor's that I have seen over the last 9 months prescribed me tramadol. I tried it and at first, I stopped taking it as it made me sick. Fastforward about 2 months and I was so desperate for pain relief that I decided to take the tramadol despite the vomiting and "buzzy" feeling that it gave me.
Business man2 Hydrocodone can be combined with Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen for pain. Both preparations have similar outcomes for pain relief.
Avatar m tn I had complete relief for 4.5 hours which is exactly the duration of effective pain relief I had when using hydrocodone in the past for post-surgery pain. I started experimenting with various analgesics (both OTC and prescription). The following summarizes what I now perceive appears to help me. • 1000 mg Tylenol, 600 Mg Ibuprofen, or 240 mg Naproxen all appear to reduce symptoms somewhat but, alone, are not magic bullets.
Avatar f tn There are many other medications out there for you to try. The Norco is a little stronger than Tramadol, which explains the pain relief that you are getting. I really hope that they can fix your condition so that you don't have to deal with pain anymore but a lot of times that doesn't occur. Back surgery has a 60% success rate and many have ended up in worse pain than before the surgery. It is OK to take pain medications to control pain.
773646 tn?1239225659 Hi to all - w/ greetings to my friend Khiba - I have tried Lyrica and had a reaction of involuntary jerking. I didn't have tremendous results with neurontin, but it did help at high doses. I'm currently involved in the vicious trap of narcotics, but have MS as well as Sys. Sclerosis so have joint pain that's really bad on top of the MS pain. Also osteoporosis and spinal problems causing pain.
Avatar n tn I took it for arthritic pain and it made me sleep longer and more deeply meaning I woke feeling more stiffness and pain so I took more Tramadol to relieve the pain. I also put on weight and was much less active which in turn led to more pain. I was on Tramadol for 6 years and am glad to be off it. Getting off it involved about 4 days of discomfort and after that I was 90% back to normal.
Avatar n tn Vicodin is stronger then Tramadol. I think if you get put on tramadol you will be in alot more pain. My father inlaw takes it and it does nothing for him. I took it and it did nothing for me. Vicodin on the other hand did help my pain alittle. I would try to talk him into not doing it, ask him what is the main reason for changing your meds. I hate to say it but if you get them changed like that you will be in alot more pain. This is just my option. Tramadol did nothing for me.
3072999 tn?1356414732 I'm currently on Tramadol 50 mg....but only "as needed". I find it helps with the pain from muscle spasms -- which is currently the only pain I have, thank goodness! This was prescribed to me by my new pain management MD, as the one that "dismissed" me from her practice only wanted to shove Dilaudid at me (which I balked at=dismissal from practice)! I'm finding that, as I heal, I've been able to go longer and longer without needing it...
