Hi all, I had been on Xanax 2mg,Vicodin 5/500mg and Tramadol 50mg for 2 yers(Xanax and Tramadol) and 1 year(Vicodin)taking 8 to 10mg Xanax and 2 to 4 pills of tramadol and Vicodin daily. I am slowly weaning off the Xanax, I'm on day 53 and down to 6.75mg and quit cold turkey the tramadol and the vicodin 16 days ago.
My doctor today switched me to Tramadol to wean off of the Vicodin over 3 weeks, then stay with the Tramadol. Is Tramadol just as addictive as the Vicodin? Will it help with any withdrawl symptoms I may have from going off of the Vicodin? I am terrified of withdrawl and have no idea if I will experience withdrawl symptoms. Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated!
The real difference between Tramadol (Ultram) and Vicodin is that they are meant for two different purposes. To get the best pain relief from Ultram, it is to be taken every day, 2-3 times a day, for an extended period of time. It takes 2-3 days for the full benefits of the med to take hold. Vicodin, on the other hand, provides maximum benefit quickly and goes out of the system equally fast. It is meant for short-term relief.
I had brain tumor surgery in June and have been on Vicodin. In the last month i have been alternating (every 4 hrs) both Vicodin and Tramadol on a daily basis.I thought it would be a good way to decrease the Vicodin. I read the "precautions" for tramadol and it states "do not take with narcotics or other opioids". Then I realize that tramadol is just as addicting as vicodin. So why would a physician prescribe tramadol to try to get off the vicodin?
i have taken vicodin for about 10 years now. I have never increased the dosage or abuse the med. my dr recently put me on tramadol which i'll try anything. i am to take 2 tramadol twice daily or as needed along with 800 mg ibuprofen twice daily. i have not found any resolve with this medication (i have been on it 2 weeks). i also have not had any typical withdrawl symptoms from stopping the vicodin. i have degeneration of my t3 and t4 vertebre and spinal rotation and of course subluxation.
I have a herniated disc l5-s1, I have been on tramadol 2-50mg pills every 3-4 hrs due to the severe pain and vicodin as needed when therapy got really painful, the dr told me to take 2 pills but failed to change it in the computer now I'm cut off till 2 weeks from now . I'm in chronic pain and have about 25 vicodin left. I'm worried about the withdrawl symptoms from the tramadol.
Is tramadol doing this or am I going through withdrawl. I feel like the tramadol is easing the withdrawl of vicodin but I know i will get hooked on the tramadol. Does anyone know about tramadol? I feel like a failure because I keep telling myself "today is the last day" i can get by on one a day but then I go back.....
Ok what about Vicodin? Would taking Vicodin slow or halt the recovery process from quitting Zoloft? You know since my brain is in a weak state since I'm recovering from stopping Zoloft, I think.
I ask because I was addicted to Vicodin for a month and a half AFTER quitting Zoloft. I was taking 60-80mg of hydrocodone a day during that month and a half period. Would taking Vicodin weaken my body and prolong the withdrawal process from Zoloft?
Vicodin is a higher pain killer than tramadol. Tramadol to me is no different to tylenol, then i have some friends that are addicted to it. I am coming off of vicodin and i dont sugest anyone take it for any periods of time. I dont know your story but if possible i would stray from vicodin. LIke i said i have used them both and vicodin gave the the pain relief and the "high" i was looking for tramadol didnt even touch the pain.
Hey all! I used Vicodin 7.5 for years. I always had Tramadol that always helped with the withdrawal. I have since had to use Dilaudid instead. I notice the Tramadol does not seem to reduce the withdrawals. At least physical symtpms such as sweating, insomnia, and discomfort persist. This was pretty much taken care of with Tramadol after running out of Vicodin. I also get this horrible hot/cold feeling in my arms. I do not think I ever experienced this with Vicodin.
t pregnant. Again, I suggest tapering the tramadol assuming you are already OFF the vicodin, right? And really, you need to talk to your doctor. I don't know anything about the category D and X birth defects issue. She is advising you based on the 10 per day dose of just tramadol (?). She may want to adjust things once she knows the actual amounts you are/have been taking. Please call her ok?
Wow that is a bit concerning. I figured going from 10 vicodin a day to 2 or 1 tramadol would HAVE to be better. The one thing I noticed after the first couple weeks is that I have adjusted to *feeling* things again, which was difficult at first after not feeling much for the months on Vicodin. Feeling things, sitting through them and not being numb when the day was stressful, painful, difficult, etc. was the first change I noticed.

take one tablet daily as needed for breakthrough pain. Currently I have been taking one tablet of tramadol mid morning and one tablet of percocet at night. My question is are any of you prescribed 3 different pain medications? I have an old bottle of vicodin and it is helpful for my pain for me to occasionally alternate not taking the one tramadol but instead taking the one vicodin.
I have been a vicodin addict for many years on and off and have now been taking tramadol 400mg daily for about 4 months with an occasional bought of a week or so of 50-80 mgs of vicodin daily. I would like to know how bad withdrawal will be at this level when compared to withdrawal coming off of 200-300 mg of vicodin which I have done in the past. I have also withdrawn from Cymbalta which was hell and lasted for over 30 days.
How long have youu been on the vicodin??? Phengran is for nausea but I think it can be addictive if used to long or abused the dosage. Elavil is used for many things from depression, migraine prevention, sleep disorders, to colitis it is not addictive.
My concern is that you say you tend to mix several other pain meds like Tramadol which like vicodin is highly addictive and hard to detox from and fiorcet which in some cases has codine in it another opitate like vicodin and tramadol.
I was only on Zoloft for a month. I stopped cold turkey because I didn't like how they suppressed my real emotions. It wasn't a problem stopping cold turkey for me.
I'm only temporarily using Tramadol to help with my Vicodin withdrawal because I stopped it cold turkey and I'm having very uncomfortable chills as a result and the tramadol is helping a lot. I'm only going to be using Tramadol for a few more days until my body recovers from not having any Vicodin.
