Avatar f tn Hello All. I have just joined. I quit Tramadol 6 days ago after about 3 years of use. I was taking 200 mg a day. I am feeling somewhat better today, after going through withdrawal, but still cannot sleep. Now I am going back to work tomorrow. Any ideas on how to get some rest?
1512059 tn?1298296573 If you find this cure for insomnia please let us know. I finally slept last night after 3 days. But I had to take a tramadol to get that sleep. Tram is not my drug of choice. I have only had some for around 1 week. But getting off of all the drugs has caused me days of no sleep. And I really want to sleep.
Avatar m tn The reason for this longer depression and insomnia symptoms is because Tramadol, besides affecting the opioid receptors, has an effect on the serotonin receptors in the central nervous system. That means you may also need an SSRI antidepressant to deal with some depression that may develop as the result of your withdrawal. But it does get better and better every day if you stick with it, so please don’t give up.

Avatar f tn Hi. I have been taking about 8 50 mg of tramadol per day for the last month. I want to stop taking them but am scared of withdrawals. I was prescribed them for lower back pain. I also taking seroquel, lamictal, lexapro and l tyrosine for bipolar depression. Do u think the withdrawal from the tramadol will be bad? Should I taper? What should I expect? Please help me. I'm scared. Thanks.
Avatar m tn No no no you have not done perma damage! Tramadol has a anti deppressant in it so the w/d's do take a little longer than the regular opioids. You're actually not suppose to just quit them cold turkey because you can have seizures. You're 22 days off them so you should be clear of that now though. I really would recommend not drinking though. It is so easy to become dependant on something else well trying to quit a substance.
8265858 tn?1403378544 A physician may be able to prescribe you some Neurontin (gabapentin) for general malaise, anxiety and muscle cramps, Requip for the restless leg syndrome and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia. The reason for this longer depression and insomnia symptoms is because Tramadol, besides affecting the opioid receptors, has an effect on the serotonin receptors in the central nervous system.

Avatar m tn com since we often detox patients with tramadol addictions.I know that you already read my bog about tramadol as I have notice and responded to your comment to it. Once you get through the withdrawals, the only thing you should keep in mind is as people start to feel really good after a few months out; they forget how bad the withdrawal really was and think they can start using again. Just once or twice.... and they get caught up yet again.
Avatar f tn Even though Tramadol is not considered a true narcotic medication and is relatively easily prescribed for pain by some physicians, it is as you have found out quite addictive and difficult to quit. As you already know, it usually takes several weeks of the really nasty symptoms of acute withdrawal, followed by several months of just insomnia and general weakness and depression.

Avatar n tn Quinidine (Quinaglute, Quinidex) reduces the inactivation of tramadol, thereby increasing the concentration of tramadol by 50%-60%. Combining tramadol with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (for example, Parnate) or selective serotonin inhibitors [(SSRIs, for example, fluoxetine (Prozac)] may result in severe side effects such as seizures or a condition called serotonin syndrome.
Avatar n tn I was taking Tramadol 50 mg. for fibromyalgia pain for approximately seven years, always prescribed by my physician. I fluctuated between 2-4 pills per day, but usually just 2 at nighttime. Last week my doctor put me on Cymbalta and told me that I couldn't take the Tramadol with the Cymbalta, so I discontinued the it. Ever since, I'm barely getting any sleep and I seem to be breathing shallowly. Even at this dose, could I be experiencing withdrawal symptoms?
Avatar f tn l was finally given Tramadol for help with sleep. Per the rehab facility Tramadol is only drug prescribed as to very low addition rate. Supposed to be basically non-addictive.

Avatar m tn I have been taking tramadol (50mgs x3 or 4/day) for over a year now. My doc just stopped the script about 4-5 days ago. Its been rough, I've been extremely irritable, anxious, nauseous and not feeling myself. I'm also taking Lexapro 10mg 1/day which I've been doing for years for anxiety. Along with small doses of xanax when necessary. I'm wondering what people have experienced with anything like this?
