My wife has been having serious headaches lately and the doctor prescribed her Tramadol. Can anyone tell me if Tramadol makes you high like Vicodin? I do not want my wife taking it if it does. She seems to have taken a liking to Vicodin. Once I got my addiction under control, its as if she wanted to start vicodin on a regular basis. I can't explain why, I just know that she seems to have like it and that is why she has asked the doctor for a non narcotic.
I am scheduled for rotator cup surgery in two weeks and during my last surgeron visit I was prescribed TRAMADOL 50 MG for pain. I am now experiencing frequent ( at night about once per hour/during the day about once every 2 hours) urination. The urge to urinate requires immediate attention, and I have not had this problem in the past. I am 67 and my usual frequency at night was about two times per night. I dont seem to have any other symptoms such as pain urinating or blood in urine.

DR's DO NOT KNOW IT ALL! THEY EVEN TOLD ME THAT TRAMADOL WAS NOT ADDICTIVE HA SURE! DR's NEED TO BE BETTER INFORMED OF THIS DRUG CAUSE IT HAS RUINED MANY MANY LIVES!!!!!! JUST TAKE ADVIL OR IBPROFEN!
Really what would make the most sense if you are on high doses of tramadol would be to stop the antidepressant and then when you begin to taper down the tramadol to slowly titrate back onto the antidepressant so as to avoid withdrawal from BOTH types of substances. t know this for a fact, but I would be willing to bet that Suboxone would override Tramadol, resulting in no real effect from Tramadol. Both Suboxone and Tramadol are active at the mu receptor on the brain. Since Suboxone has a very high affinity for this receptor, it would already have the receptor full and I doubt that Tramadol would kick it out. The chances of going into withdrawal are very high. My advice would be not to mix the two, but check with your doctor before you make a decision.
The first time I stopped taking Loratab, I had WD, I also had pain. Someone had given me a half bottle of tramadol and said "you can take this for pain, it won't get you high though". I was in a lot of pain so I took 2 50mg. The pain went away, but so did the WD's from the Loratab.I took 2 of the50 mg twice a day. Four days later, I didn't have the pain anymore (it was from a nearly broken jaw), and I didn't have WD's either.
i'm currently taking tramadol 50 mg 2xaday , my doctor put me on tramadol er 100mg 1xaday.
will I have withdrawl symptoms going to the tramadol er???
Be careful when taking 3 cns depressants concurrently. That's a fairly high dose of tramadol and even though it's a fairly weak painkiller, it could still cause problems if you're taking a moderate to high dose of Xanax as well. Just be smart about it. See how they affect you, and if any one or two don't make you overly drowsy, adding the third should be fine.
m in pain alot. My dr. gave me tramadol. They do absolutely nothing for me yet I read about people being addicted to them. They're not a narcotic, are they?

Thank you for your thoughtful response to my question. I'm so glad that I discovered this web site in the first place (only 2 weeks ago) and really glad that I was able to find out about Tramadol.
I asked my pharmacist about this drug and she indicated it was safe for an addict to take. Then there is the doctor who prescibed them. He said he would only give me Tramadol because of my substance abuse issues.
Vicodin is a higher pain killer than tramadol. Tramadol to me is no different to tylenol, then i have some friends that are addicted to it. I am coming off of vicodin and i dont sugest anyone take it for any periods of time. I dont know your story but if possible i would stray from vicodin. LIke i said i have used them both and vicodin gave the the pain relief and the "high" i was looking for tramadol didnt even touch the pain.
So, I do think it is wise to taper down on the anti-depressant if you are taking a high dose before starting tramadol. Ask your physician if he/she thinks your anti-depressant dosing level is too high for combined use with Tramadol. And, most importantly read the prescription leaflet instructions that lists the symptoms of serotonin syndrome.

In the last several months there has many studies done regarding Tramadol for usage in Very severe cronic Refractory depression that simply no longer fully responds to even the most powerful AD medication.
Again this is only being used by some Psychiatrist when all other forms of antidepressant therapy fail to give full relief to specific resistant patients.
My neurologist said that Tramadol isn't really useful for migraines. That said, since I deal with FM I tried Tramadol for that pain. I took it for a while, but even at the lowest dose possible I ended up having speech problems related to taking the Tramadol. My PCP said she doesn't like Tramadol and that a lot of people have trouble taking Tramadol.
Antidepressant ? Huh sorry I'm confused I was told they were instead of anti inflammatorys as I have crohns disease ( recently diagnosed ) I was in hospital 3 weeks and put on steroids and the tramadol at high doses I've only been on th since September and wasn't given any info on them I just didn't think to look into them !

s about 20 per day with added Tylenol for a better high... So, I got a bottle of 240 tramadol. I just started popping away. 30/40 a day for 6 days. I only took about 15 on day 6... Not wasn't at all!! I thought I was going to come out of my skin! The back of my neck was on fire! I think I had a a seizure because my lips wouldn't stop quivering. My heart was racing and I was having double audio. My jaw was Clenched tight. D I was afraid if I went to sleep I'd die..
Hi! It sounds like a Tramadol withdrawal to me. You're not on a high dose which is good. Start cutting back on it slowly over time. It will help you adjust and keep the more difficult withdrawals at bay. You can just stop the Percocet now.
Post back and let us know how you're feeling. You might want to call your doctor to let him/her know what you're doing and to get some advice on how to taper.
