Avatar m tn I had an MRI which showed right joint effusion and limited anterior translation of the left mandibular condyle and disc on open mouth sequence. I am waiting for a referral to a tmj/orofacial pain clinic. I am wondering if anyone on here has had similar MRI results and can explain what this means and what they did for treatment.
Avatar m tn As some of you know I'm an addicted to Xanax and I'm working in my tapering off of this benzo, but I had also taked as prescribed, Vicodin 5/500mg and Tramadol 50mg for over a year. I don't think that I am addicted to these opiates psychologically, never took more than prescribed the Tramadol( twice daily) and the Vicodin when I had migraine-which happened to be 3 or 4 times a week, yes.
5262038 tn?1415312585 Also my new doctor now knows tramadol is not okay for me either. I have severe TMJ and lock jaw right now and am waiting to have surgery for it in another state but that could take a month or two. It's very painful but I will deal with the pain and NOT accept tramadol or any other medications.
Avatar f tn I have been having headaches for several weeks straight now. Some tmes severe, sometimes with some sharp stabbig pain in the left side of head. I have had two MRI tests that show possible ischenic episodes with "white foci in the frontal lobe". My family dr thinks possible mini strokes, but I can't get in with a neurologist for three more weeks. I have tried Neurontin, Percocet, Tramadol, Ibuprophen with no releif. I just got a new script for Fiorinol and not tried it yet.
1459410 tn?1285695005 So I found some Tramadol that had been prescribed to my 18yr old daughter for her shoulder pain and long story short - do not resort to Tramadol. I never got the high or euphoria from it that others I guess have and never felt like I had to have it, but I did take it right before bedtime each night and was rewarded with a good nights sleep. Chronic pain can really put the weight on a person. So after gaining 25 pounds I decided it was time to take it back off.
Avatar f tn Before getting pregnant i was taking tramadol and flexeril to take the edge off if my jaw started locking up. Now my ob just has me on the lowest dose of flexeril but it seems to do nothing for it. Just 10 more weeks though i think i can make it if i've gotten this far.
Avatar f tn Jaw locking Eye pain and twitching Facial pain and burning Pain in side of head Pain in mouth Shoulder pain Arm pain with weakness and twitching Occasional balance loss I have had MRIs of my Brain, Cervical and Thoracic Spine, and Right TMJ. Everything was clear except for 2 small disc protrusions to the right at C5 and C6, the opinion is that these protrusions are not large enough to be causing problems. I have had an arthroscopy on the Right TMJ and arthritis has been ruled.
Avatar f tn Yes, the flexeril is a muscle relaxer and it knocks me out cold. Do not take it if you are working/driving, etc. Tramadol is useless for my TMJ pain. I would be better off taking advil. I also have a weird reaction to it and feel like I am having horrible anxiety/panic attacks. It is weird. Pain mgt. docs will make you do all new MRIs. I had to pay out of pocket a couple years ago when I did not have insurance, and it was about $900. It is probably more now!!
5093508 tn?1390543931 Advice on Mixing Tramadol. Zopiclone and Trazodone. I didn't actually post a question, but rather, I replied posted a comment in response to this, on April 7th. I no longer need any advice on this, as I'm off Tramadol now and I'm weaning off Zopiclone. I wasn't on Trazodone, but I am still on 3 other Anti-deps. Since stopping Tramadol, I no longer have any anxiety issues, thank God! I am also weaning off Valium.
Avatar f tn So, yes once you stop the Neurontin your withdrawls will come back. Just be prepared. I use it for TMJ issues I have, but not on a daily basis. So, I do know what im talking about here. No one gets thru withdrawls unscathed, we have to get thru them in order to let the brain heal. Not trying to be a downer here. Just telling the truth.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am off Tramadol 16 days now and the anxiety is relentless and sleep very hard to come by. I do know others taking Gabapetin for Tramadol WD for the anxiety and sleep. It helps them but it is also addicting and hard to come off of as far as trying to get sleep patterns back.you have to make that choice. There is a Tramadol recovery room#62, search in upper right area for Tramadol specific with thousands of previous posts to read and relate to. if you search above.

Avatar n tn I started going to the chiro about two weeks ago for my tmj and he said I should have neck adjustments for 2 weeks 3 days a week. So far it hasnt helped my tmj it may have made it worse cause im now streesed about my neck it feels sore and numb going down my back. Was this a proper thing to do for tmj?
1222635 tn?1366396286 we live in alabama..i am assuming that it is not required by law for insurance companies to cover TMJ, as BCBS of AL does not. any help is appreciated. my dentist told me my problem will only deteriorate without treatment and i am at a loss for what to do as we have no money.
Avatar m tn I've been using a dental mouthguard at night for the last few years because my dentist said I was grinding my teeth at night. The first one broke, and the second one has a large crack in the same location. I've also had TMJ problems, mainly in the right jaw joint, for many years. A couple years ago these got much worse, and I had more jaw pain and migrane-like headaches.
Avatar f tn I see a specialist in TMJ who tells me my case is very severe and he has been urging me for at least a year to get a full surgical joint surgery with new implants. I have heard awful things about that type of surgery. I feel like I haven't heard anything positive. I know when I see him, he is frustrated because my jaw hardly opens and it sounds like crumbling rocks, no more popping, that was the good ole days. His frustration is that I won't give in to surgery.
Avatar m tn Hi! I've dealt with TMJ for several years, and it is important to find a doctor who actually treats it! For the first several years I had a maxillofacial surgeon and when i moved I found a dentist who specialized in TMJ. The reason why this is important is that they will understand the need for speciliazed splints to reduce harm to the jaw, and also be able to properly medicate, measure the progress and damage to the joint, and see if surgery(rarely) is needed.
Avatar f tn I've had trismus for over 3 weeks now after having a cracked tooth pulled. This tooth had considerable work done on it and was going to get a crown when the dentist discovered it was cracked all the way down to the root. My jaw was getting very stiff each time work was done. Two days later I had it pulled and got the trismus. I am currently going to both the oral surgeon, and a physical therapist. I can assure you that nothing so far has worked. Would botox?
Avatar f tn I also have suffered from tmj for many many years. At first, I thought I actually had a brain tumor, I was feeling that wierd! I felt like my vision was off center, I had shoulder pain, neck pain. sinus problems, and stuffy itchy ears, and feelings of being off balance. I was told its all in my mind ,but that was back some years ago. I eventually got an ortho who put me on a night guard.. i would grind my teeth so hard at night I cracked the dang thing!
Avatar m tn Also, I bet we all do big yawns now and then--I open my mouth very wide and stretch a bit farther for a moment when the TMJ tension is too high. Accupressure w/ a thumb just above the back jawbone in front of the ear and below the cheek bone feels good. Press the spot firmly a few moments--mine makes crackling noises on that spot when opening my mouth. That spot is probably the muscle the chiropractors are pressing from the inside--it feels similar.
483733 tn?1326798446 Look at the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain website for the referral area. I know how difficult and frustrating it is for patients to find the correct treatment. Hope you find it.
Avatar m tn I have read the posts on this subject and a few people (not more than two or three) have gone to chiropractors for this problem. Any opinion as to the success of the chiroprator for fixing TMJ and is there any danger from their adjustments? Thanks.
Avatar f tn The doctor gave me Tramadol for my endometriosis pain. I have a full week of almost intolerable pain every monthl. Tramadol is one of the few drugs I can tolerate with regards to nausea (Vicodin et al seem to just make me puke immediately), and it does actually manage to relieve my pain fully or at least 80-90% (when I mix it with Aleve). The problem is this. I have to admit that I enjoy the Tramadol. It makes me feel good. Of course it does -- it makes everyone feel good.
Avatar m tn I've had An MRI of the brain and an mra of the brain and both were normal. I've had a left sided headache for a year and a half and I have tenderness on the muscle below my ear and a tingling feeling on the left side of my head. My dentist said it looked like I grind my teeth so he got me a mouth guard. I wear it on and off. The head pressure is worse when I talk and it's only on the left side and it feels like my ear is clogged. Does this sound like tmj?
