I'm not on any medication currently. I tried Paxil and Zoloft (low doses for about 4 months) for my anxiety but neither of them worked. In fact, Paxil actually made me more nervous in social settings. I also found that the SSRI's helped me last during sex which was amazing for me except I couldn't reach an orgasm. The SSRI's made me feel kind of odd, like i was in a dream sometimes, so I stopped them. I have two more drugs I had interesting findings with.

Hi, Yes you can opt for triptans. Triptans are an important part of abortive therapy for migraine. Triptans specifically target serotonin which is the neurotransmitter responsible for migraines. Please discuss this option with your treating doctor. Apart from this magnesium supplements and biofeedback therapy have been found to be very useful in preventing migraine attacks. Take care!
And with the mushrooming tramadol problem world wide and the # of people looking for help, should this surprise anyone?
I was started on tramadol for these sharp burning pains, and the hip pain. I have been on Tramadol for about 3 years now. I stopped once for about a year, but when I had the DVT/ PE last year I had to go back on it. For a year now I have been taking tramadol. Every time I try to wean myself off it I get this severe deep burning leg pain. Worse in the evening. A couple of weeks after the DVT I developed this awful pain in my hamstrings and calf muscles.
CT's of the chest were negative as well as chest X-Rays. Given Percocet for pain. Finally seen by Pain Management Clinic and diagnosed with Costo Condritis. Given several injections with only minor relief. Was seen by Rheumatologist and had site injected. Received relief for about a month but pain came back with a vengance. It's been one year and still having pain but not as bad. New pain different. Sharp intermittent pain lasting a few seconds.
After an extensive workup, docs decided to try removing my gallbladder to see if that might be the cause. I had that done 9/25/06. Two days later, I developed a PE (blood clot in my right lung), was admitted to the hospital and put on blood thinners. Five days later, they found I was bleeding internally from the floor of my liver bed. They spent the next 24 hours reversing the anticoaggulation, and then went in abdominally to fix the bleed.
Hello all, I have had the pain for about 10 years and docs have not been able to id the issue. So, thought I might see if anyone has any other thoughts. I have pain when I stand, walk, sit or lay down (this is in the order of level of pain as well - standing is the worse). When I stand the bottom of my feet will throb. Sometimes most of the bottom and sometimes I will get certain points like the heel or by the big toe that almost feels like a cigarette burn.
Just wanted to say I am day six and no opiates or weed , I cheated and had 1 cig last night though. I'll survive. It is crazy to think I even typed the first post but it really helped me reading it each day to see my progress as well as feel my progress. I think yesterday was a tough day on the physical and mental side. Today is really not to bad. I can tell things arnt quite how they where before but maybe in the following week it will be better.
Sorry went off subject there lol but ye I'm trying to be seen by a fms specialist but there is a 1 year waiting list for him and my insurance won't pe to go private (I'm In Scotland) I also take 600mg of tramadol a day which I'm not happy about but to be honist I can't afford not to work and athough I'm off my nut all day ateasf I can walk (kinda)

I'm with teresa here.. this is a HUGE wake up call. Tramadol was my DOC for years and it was extremely addictive. What do you think? Do you think it's time to try and quit?
I lie down when the kids are out for PE or lunch, when my para takes over with them. It feels weird, but gets me through the day on the rough ones. LL- I have tried Carnation Instant Breakfast, and can usually get it down. Believe it or not, (and I'm sure you will!) it almost seems like too much work to stir it up some days. PA-THE-TIC! Animal crackers are also tolerable. Saltines make me sick, for some reason. The muscle pain has set in for me, as well.
After my bypass surgery, I never thought I'd eat again. I was on just fluid for three days. Then I came off morphine and just took tramadol, whammo, I was eating like a horse.
I was prescribed percocets (5/325) about 1 1/2 years ago for chronic back pain (scoliosis mainly). I took them as prescribed for a while and then started increasing the dosage until I was taking upwards of 14 a day (I could take 8 per my script). I decided about a week ago to stop. I tapered down to 8 a day, I guess that's not great but I just can't have them around me without taking them. I have been without for 36 hours and of course I feel like hell in a hand basket.
I'm waiting to hear back to get scheduled for an upper GI and small bowel, but in the meantime, the belladonna that was prescribed isn't touching them. Nor does the baclofen or Tramadol. They're so powerful. Even though they lasted for about ten minutes at a time, my ribs were very sore in the back this morning. It hurt to take a deep breath. In the meantime, it's good to have a way to shut these down. It's such a gripping pain.
I used to hurt primarily in my arms and legs, but now it has moved to my back. Headaches are returning. I've been treating for TMJ, but not much help. I'm on Tramadol, Tegretol, Gabapentin, Hydrocodone-PRN, Flexaril, Trazadone just to eke out an existance each day. Is this common, that there is so much nerve damage that I should expect this kind of life?
After I got home to the US, I suffered significant pain for weeks while I was drugged on Tramadol and they tried everything (Flonase, Claritin, etc.) to drain my ears with no luck. I saw ENT and she said she has never seen as severe case of Eustacian Tube Dysfunction in an adult. I eventually got ear tubes last week after the pain became too much to bear--my eardrums began to perforate(sp?) under the pressure and I was at risk of bursting my eardrums. The tubes helped...
I have had left knee problems for at least 4 years now. Dr. has given me quite a few injections into the knee. Now he is suggesting Synvisc injections. This is injected once a week for three weeks and is supposed to provide up to 6 months of knee pain relief. I was wondering if anyone has had this treatment and if there are any side effects from it? And does it really work and last as long as they claim?????
The pain worsens if i am carring anything at arms lengths or even if i am carring a light bag over either of my shoulders. I have tried; hot, cold, advil and exercise but i haven't seen any releif for the past 5 months. The only thing i think that could have caused the pain is when i moved about 5 months ago. There was a great deal of lifting and stress. I am 26 years old and feel like this pain is limiting my ability to go about my daily task. Any suggestions please?
My sister in Italy is 55, after intense pain at her back for a few days (middle section, with shooting pains also at her rib-cage), she went and had X-rays taken yesterday, and they told her she has Schmorl's nodes at her D-11 vertebre. No ostheoporosis. She is quite fit and active, she told me that this pain began after a few days of some extra effort she did carrying something and possibly after an intense session with her chiropractic she has been seeing regularly for a few years now.
The dr can give some hormones for that if it is bad, give them a call. Best of luck and hope for a speedy recovery.
Occasionally I will also feel the cramping when I get sexually excited. It doesn't last for too long, a few minutes at most but I was curious if anyone else had experienced something like this. Thank you for your feedback.
