Avatar f tn I am a 38 yr. old female. I suffer from multiple migraines per day and fibromyalgia and severe lower back pain. I deal with the pain without the use of narcotics or opiates because I have a history of addiction to these substances as I have had migraines all my life. A common relapse issue for me is around pain management. It's a complicated subject. I take a lot of advil and muscle relaxers which do not kill all of the pain and this often leaves me depressed about the quality of my life...
Avatar n tn I know of many people that are prescribed Vicodin (Hydrocodone) and Ultram (Tramadol) together with the Vicodin prescribed for breakthrough pain. However, as Sandee and Molly stated, you should call your doctor before taking these medications at the same time if they were not prescribed to you that way. The potency of the two medications may be too strong for you or may contradict any other medical conditions you may have. Feel Better.
Avatar f tn I had luck with the elastic rubber tubes that have the handles on them. They come in different colors which have different resistance levels. Walmart sold one from Gold's Gym that had an instruction DVD with it. Recently I've got a low end "Total Gym" which is also a good way to exercise without causing too much stain on joints. Both allow you to start off very little resistance.
Avatar n tn Usually when you have a typical drug screen done for pain management it will show up as tramadol. It depends on which test as far as the extent such as the level in your system. Is the a test for employment or for pain management your asking about. They are very different test. One test for illegal substances and other drugs such a prescription and the other test for the prescription drugs and the levels in your system as well as illegal substances.
Avatar f tn You could try one of the non-opioid drugs used for neuropathic pain, though these may not be as effective as opioids and some may have a component causing dependence. It would be discuss this in detail with your treating doctor. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar m tn So your pain doctor dismissed you but gave you the Tramadol? I was prescribed Tramadol many years ago for joint pain but it made me too spacey and didn't really help with my pain. At the time I didn't know Tramadol can also be very hard to withdraw from and needs to be tapered. I wasn't on it long enough to become dependent on it, but I know some people have had a hard time getting off it. I think you definitely need to start looking for a new pain management doctor right away.
Avatar f tn I would need to take something else the other month. I was in Hawaii recently and I saw what coconuts look like growing on a palm tree. There is a tough green husk and underneath is the brown coconut we know, and inside of that is the white coconut "meat". Tramadol is the first medicine I've taken that gets all the way to the "meat" of my endometriosis pain.
1318483 tn?1318347182 Tramadol didn't help me, I just felt like I was taking advil or something....I too take neurontin, zanaflex and amitriptyline.....they help some, but not all the time. It really ***** to have to deal with all of this. I hope you find relief real soon!!
Avatar f tn So currently I am given Percocet 5 (3 times a day and tramadol 50 mg x4 per pay.. pain wise this seems to work, but as soon as I start taking tramadol, I develop a terrible rash.... so back to Tylenol... not sure what to do...is there any other mild pain killers I should look into besides tramadol? The 3 percoset 5 per day isn't enough, and when I was on nothing but percosets I had to take it every 4 hours...it seems all doctors don't like this.
Avatar f tn I was given flexeril and tramadol for muscle spasms due to herniated discs. The tramadol did nothing for the pain, I was able to receive some relief from motrin instead. I can't take stronger opioids because they make me nauseous. Morphine doesn't work for me either. Are the two medications related?
Avatar n tn Tramadol is NOT an opiate/opioid narcotic pain medication but works in a somewhat similar manner to that group. Ask your physician about prescribing you Ibuprophen 600mg. or the 800mg. tablets which are both effective and potent pain relievers. There appears to be a belief by many that Tramadol is both a narcotic and as addicting as narcotics, neither is true.
Avatar f tn If I’m seeing a pain management doctor and he has started me Off with tremadol that don’t work can i tell him a previous pain dr had me on Norcos and they worked for me if he can continue to keep me on them??
1689696 tn?1305819097 Hello to all, I went to a pain management doc for the first time yesterday . I was taking hydrocodon 5/500 lyrica 150 mg x2 and had a lydocaine patch. I saw thedoc and he started out by asking me how big my bra size was i told him 48dd. He then told me that because of my back broblems that I could get reduction surgery and that this could help my back?!! So in the end I found out that I have buldging discs from L3-S1 ! He gave me NO meds for pain and gave me a tens machine.
Avatar m tn m sure everyone has an opinion, and this is a juicy topic for a public forum. I take tramadol -200 mg daily for chronic pain management. I have osteoarthritis in six cervical vertebrae, and without management the pain is incapacitating. I prefer Tramadol because of the reduced/nonexistent side effects. It stops the pain, and allows me to function- no "high". I am also prescribed one half Endocet up to twice daily for severe flair-ups.
798548 tn?1237503653 other wise i do not sleep well at all without them and am miserable. this pain management so far has worked for me. i am still in pain but no where near as i am without the meds. Tramadol is not considered a narcotic but you can become dependent on it which i am dependent on it. without it i am in a tremendous amount of pain and cannot functions daily.
1535353 tn?1292709086 I know many people who have had great relief from pain pumps! I am surprised that your dr isn't willing to try and other options. Tramadol isn't very strong and many people including myself do not find it very effective. If your dr isn't giving options I'd find a new dr going from tramadol to a pain pump is a huge leap and there are so many other options.
1315448 tn?1274018979 Pain management does offer many options to chronic pain paitents. When you see the doctor he/she will offer you what options they have available and you will go from there. If you choose one option and then find it is not right for you then you can always go back and talk to the doctor and try something else. Most of us has been through many of the options they offer to find the one that is right for us.
Avatar m tn I've been taking tramadol for a few months for pain and it's already showing it's addictive qualities. Therefore, I'm getting off it and trying something else. It took about a month to start to notice the addiction part (take more now, sooner and sooner or you'll feel crappy till you do...). It then took about 4-5 days to get over the withdrawals after tapering down.
Avatar f tn Well, first off, no, you shouldn't have taken the Norco. When you're in pain management, you generally have to sign a contract. If you deviate in any way from it, they can dismiss you immediately. A lot of people have found that out the hard way. Did you sign a contract? If you did, please read it carefully. You definitely need to have a frank talk with both your pain team and your chiropractor. Just let the chiropractor know you need to take a break from it for now.
Avatar f tn I have an old bottle of vicodin and it is helpful for my pain for me to occasionally alternate not taking the one tramadol but instead taking the one vicodin. I'm afraid to ask my doctor if they would be willing to additionally now prescribe me vicodin. What are your thoughts? I want to be able to alternate when and what medication I take.
Avatar m tn com has user opinions when your looking for a pain management, if no one has a recommendation. I know how hard it is to find a good pain management clinic. You may want to see a new PCP, so they can prescribe pain medicine until you find a pain management clinic. Good luck and I hope you get into pain management soon.
Avatar n tn Please seek out a Pain Management Specialist. They have many more options for pain control than your regular Physician. And yes, medical Marijuana might be an option but I also think it would make you very dopey. There is a pain patch by the name of Fentanyl. It has been a miracle drug for me in the past, this might be an option for you. If you would like information about it please see my profile page and send me a personal message. I will fill you in.
Avatar f tn I have been going to pain management for awhile because of bulging discs in my thoratic spine and was on tramadol and various other medications gabapentin etc. .. well yhe tramafol stopped working higher doses would be bad. So I was put on amatryptaline and nambutol ( spelling is off for sure ). I've been on anti inflamitory medications before prednisone ect and have had no relief from any of these.
