Avatar n tn Six months ago I used Suboxone to get off a 640mg habit. Did real good until I hurt my back. I got real depressed with lots of pain and started to take them again. I'd like to get off and heard of tramadol helping. Suboxone withdrawal was awful for me. This site makes tramadol sound like a bad idea. Beginning to think I have to go away or go to rapid detox.
Avatar m tn After stopping the oxycontin i took (4) 50mgs tabs of tramadol for 2 days, then down to 3 for 2 days, 2 for 2 and so on until a week went by and stopped the tramadol and experience only sweating and very very light Wd's while taking the tramadol. Before I stopped the tramadol I went to the Doctor and got Clonidine for Skin bumps hot/cold and blood pressure (.
Avatar f tn A friend of mine gave me her Tramadol to try and I was assured that she had been taking it on and off for years with O withdrawal. I took it for almost 2 months while grieving the loss of my dog. I decided on Monday to stop all together and could not believe how awful I feel. NOTHING like coming off of Oxy, but still extremeley uncomfortable and "couch bound", flu symptoms and horrible headache. I could not believe it.
Avatar f tn Yes, I have experience. And I got addicted to tramadol. You can have a seizure if you take too much of it too. The thing is that the WDs are the only way to get free of the oxy. You can take tram for the WDs, but when you stop the tram, you will have to go through them then! There are things you can do to help the symptoms without getting another addictive substance involved. Good luck! You can do this! You will get a lot of help here.
Avatar f tn Hi again. I noticed your post about oxycontin. That's another med I'm on that I want to get off, as with all the other meds I'm on, as none are working any more for what they were prescribed for in the first place. I have to deal with tramadol withdrawal first though. Anyway, I'm on 20mg oxycontin morning, and 30mg afternoon, plus oxycodone 5-10mg for breakthrough pain.
Avatar n tn I went thru oxycontin withdrawals in 2003, it was 3 long weeks of full blown withdrawals non stop. But right afterwards, i healed fast. This is my secong time, with oxycodone, and even tho, the withdrawals only lasted about 9 days, the aftermath nis horrendeous. Mental depression, anxiety which is finally tapering off in the last 2 days ( today 32 days clean), and my physcial pains are intensified right now about a gazillion!
Avatar n tn I had quit an oxycontin addiction of over 5 years only to be prescribed Tramadol - my doc. even knows about my oxycontin addiction. However, I have heard some horror stories about Tramadol as well, about its dependencies and withdrawal problems. The thing is - I do have legitimate muscle/bone pain that needs to be treated in some fashion. I guess I'm just worried that taking Tramadol will become addictive and just another monkey to get off my back. Please help me figure this out.
Avatar f tn I want to get off everything now while its still short term but I cant seem to do it because of the discomfort of the withdrawal. My question is this;if I take this Tramadol (50 mg pills) for the next few days, will it make it easier to get off the opiates? And will I have withdrawal from the Tramadol if I only use it in low doses for a short time? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
5639849 tn?1372346883 d experienced during Methadone withdrawal but they were no walk in the park. The worst part for me is the PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome) which is what happens once the worst of the acute withdrawal sickness is over. I've read a number of articles and medical reviews on this and much of it can be attributed to the 9 or so chemicals this drug interacts with in the brain.
Avatar f tn Found your site yesterday and instead of being on the verge of giving up, I am now on my way to my doctor to ask for Tramadol (and to use every fiber of my being to try not to hit him for not telling me such things existed when he knew I was suffering terrible withdrawl from the tapering off oxycontin and oxy ir's) My question is... since I don't trust my doctor anymore... what dose should I ask for? I was on 100mg oxy twice a day and 20mg oxy ir, 4 times a day...
439522 tn?1214951189 ve heard some people on here talk about how the clonidine or tramadol can spare you from withdrawal symptoms. My doctor prescribed them to me just for that, too. I have a call into him to see if there is anything else, but I'm thinking this part of feeling bad is supposed to happen to teach me a lesson...so to speak. I never thought I would be addicted to this stuff.
Avatar m tn I have quit tramadol a couple of times, each after a few months of use, and I had classic withdrawal symptoms of fever/chills, aching joints and feeling generally out of sorts. Then again, that was only for a few (unpleasant) days. On the other hand, I've stopped using doloxene with no problems, and similarly for panadeine forte.
Avatar m tn Hello. I was prescribed tramadol for rheumatoid arthritis around 1 year ago. Recently i decided that i was feeling pretty good and would like to try stopping this medication. I was concerned about the long term effects of this medication on my system and all the rest of it. I had noticed that if i ever missed a dose of tramadol that i would begin to feel terrible and this concerned me and is also part of the reason for me wanting to stop it.
15290316 tn?1447023108 I had no problem with transitioning from Oxycontin to Tramadol because I tapered way down on the Oxy. The Tramadol was okay in managing my pain, but over the past week, I've had terrible headaches. The headache is there 24/7. Does anyone have experience with this and know if the Tramadol is causing them? I didn't take any yesterday or today because I don't want to get physically dependent on them.
Avatar m tn m now taking Tramadol 100mg 4 times a day for the mental issues as well as sever stomach pain and restless leg syndrome. I feel much more motivated and happy, not high at all, just normal. I don't have any desire to do Oxycontin any more, nor do I have the desire to take extra Tramadol because it works fine taking it as prescribed.
Avatar n tn So, I have been around and around since I was 20 with these withdrawals. First let me say I have been on methadone and gone through those withdrawals. That's pure hell. Now I've been on Darvocet for 3 weeks to get off Tramadol. And I'm wondering, since they are structurally the same, are the Darvocet withdrawals the same as methadone? Can I plan on going through withdrawals for the next 7-9 weeks?

439522 tn?1214951189 1 clonidine to help with the physical withdrawal symptoms as we move down. But, today he prescribed me tramadol...with lots of refills and for long term use. I had never heard of it, and the point was that I decided it was time to move off opiates and try some other non-narcotic pain relievers. I can't use NSAIDS due to GERD (I take nexium for it), and didn't even think twice about the tramadol (ultram).
Avatar n tn I actually took tramadol to withdraw from hydro's about 4 yrs ago and got hooked on the tramadol. I've been off tramadol for bout 2 wks. To me tramadol was harder to get off of then hydros. I've heard tramadol has an AD quality...not sure. I think it would be a bad idea to take it to get off hydros. They're both so addicting...
Avatar f tn I'm trying to get my husband ready for a major detox off of Tramadol starting on Saturday. I was "trying" to taper him down from 20+ pills a day to at least 10 before we cut CT, but again, his addiction won out and he found a way to get more pills.
Avatar f tn I have been on Oxycontin for 2 years and am going to try quitting cold turkey. Anyone know the best way to quit cold turkey?? any suggestions will help greatly.
Avatar f tn I was just perscribed tramadol for back pain. I was taking norco for years but the doc says this is less addictive. havent taken it yet. The label says 1 pill every 4 hours. Just nervous with new meds. Any advice would be great.
216046 tn?1193943404 please excuse my ignorance, but i dont understand what you meant about someone dying from use of methadone with tramadol? do these medicines cause an antagonist response and there for place the patient in withdrawal? The pharmacist that dispensed the tramadol wshould have placed a warning label on the tramadol telling the patient what medications are dangerous to take with the prescription.
Avatar f tn My doctor replaced 1/2 of my daily Tramadol dose with Vicodin and I continued that for a year. I did get very uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms from the Tramadol when that switch was made. However... My doctor a year later completely took me off the Tramadol and replaced it with Morphine ER with Percocet for break through pain and I had no withdrawal symptoms from stopping the Tramadol at all!!!
