Avatar f tn I became ill about 4 years ago and was treated for fluid behind the ear canel, after 3 days of treatment the pain went. twoe weeks later the pain returned and never went away, I started to get a severe pain in my ear, jaw joint and behind my ear when I talked or laughed, this got worse as time went on and I became poorley due to the amount of pain I was having.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms do not exactly match the clinical picture of trigeminal neuralgia but you should continue with the treatment and do notgo in for complicated details. The treatment consists of medicines, surgery, and complementary approaches. For more information refer http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/trigeminal_neuralgia/detail_trigeminal_neuralgia.
Avatar f tn I am recovering from major abdominal surgery. I am taking Tramadol, which handles the pain ok. However I am having flair ups of occipital neuralgia headaches (nasty) I got when taking antidepressants. It made sense when I learned that Tramadol uses the same mechanism. Can't take nsaids because of an ulcer. Don't want Celebrex for same reason and leaky heart valves. Sigh. Is there a good alternative I could suggest. We are just talking about a couple of weeks probably.
787406 tn?1339203183 Glad the Orajel works for you. Didn't for me but everyone is different. I live for my rice/lavender bean bag. I've made the sock ones and others for back up, small versions. Those eye masks work wonders also, they fit in the palm of your hand and are the right size for a cheek, hardly noticeable when you are out somewhere and need it.
Avatar f tn Hi, drugs like gabapentin, amitryptline, carbamazepine, tramadol etc are indicated in neuralgia. For medications causing or linked to tardive kinesia, please visit website http://www.emedicine.com/NEURO/topic362.
Avatar f tn steroid infusions have helped me with TN and occipital neuralgia. I take lyrica (300 mg) and gabapentin (900 mg) both, with percocet for breakthrough pain. I'm also exploring acupuncture as a treatment, though this is very new. My biggest problem with the anti-seizure drugs is that I feel like my body acclimates to them pretty quickly, so I'm constantly upping the dosage. Sorry to hear about your pain. I know how you feel.
Avatar f tn I have a neuralgia in my mouth; unfortunately many medications that I have been prescibed and taken have caused TD. I need to know what painkillers I can take without hurting my TD any more.
1213000 tn?1280463161 Nobody has suggested Tramadol but I am familiar with this medication as my wife took it for a short while for lower back pain. I am afraid of any narcotic-like effects if Tramadol has them. As an attorney, I think and communicate for a living. Of course, the pain itself is terribly distracting so I suppose there is a choice. Thank you for your time and your well wishes. I appreciate it. I will raise the issue with my doctor.
Avatar f tn Tramadol is used to treat moderate and severe pain and most types of neuralgia, including trigeminal neuralgia.[citation needed] It has been suggested that tramadol could be effective for alleviating symptoms of depression and anxiety because of its action on GABAergic, noradrenergic and specifically serotonergic systems. However, health professionals have not yet endorsed its use on a large scale for disorders such as this.
Avatar n tn Hi sorry the last comment by me was meant for you not for Abhijeet Deshmukh, MD, somehow I copied the wrong name. Please read my former comment.
Avatar n tn I have had no side effects apart from dropping off to sleep alot when i am not active for pain relief I have been given tramadol hydrocloride tablets. but I dont really have to take them as the other tablets work so well. before i was on the Tegetol my attacks lasted for up to 12 hours and i would cry from the pain it was so bad in my ear teeth neck sinus and eye. so a little sleepiness is a small price to pay.
1316053 tn?1279509497 I am sorry to hear of your chronic pain but I want to add my cautionary tale. I was on your dose which was prescribed for a chronic trigeminal neuralgia & although I think initially my mood benefitted from the antidepressant component of the drug, I never developed any urge to take more than the prescribed dose.
Avatar n tn I have had this for a week now, started off slow, got real bad in two days and now seems to be going away. but still feels num and like sunburned feeling Am i asking in the right place. I was at my dermatologist today and he did not no.
Avatar n tn I have suffered with Post Herpatic Neuralgia for the past four years & eleven months. My problem is pain, burning, itching & stinging. It starts just below my left eye & goes up through my eyebrow (the entire width of my eyebrow) up through my forehead in about a 2 ½" wide path into my scalp to the crown of my head. No other area is involved. On a pain scale of 1 - 10, the pain is almost always a 3 - 4.
Avatar m tn I have suffered from severe nerve pain stemming from my lower spine/siatic nerve and shooting down my right buttocks and leg. I recently came down with shingles and the Prednisone caused adverse effects so doc gave me Klonopin to counter act the prednisone. In this time my nerve pain has been 99% better then it was. While the klonopin does make me a little tired I am still able to function on a normal level only at a slower pace.
Avatar f tn I was just diagnosed with Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia yesterday. I turn 40 on November 15th. The pain is unbelievable when it comes on, and unfortunately I have a very difficult time taking pain medications as they make me very ill & drowsy beyond belief. I have had 2 MRI's, a Fine Cut CT Scan, met with an Otolaryngologist and a Neurologist. We now know that I have this rare neuralgia condition.
Avatar f tn The doctor gave me Tramadol for my endometriosis pain. I have a full week of almost intolerable pain every monthl. Tramadol is one of the few drugs I can tolerate with regards to nausea (Vicodin et al seem to just make me puke immediately), and it does actually manage to relieve my pain fully or at least 80-90% (when I mix it with Aleve). The problem is this. I have to admit that I enjoy the Tramadol. It makes me feel good. Of course it does -- it makes everyone feel good.
Avatar m tn I've been having back pain recently which stems from something that I have had since I was a kid, although it seems to be getting worse as I get older. What will happen is that the pain will start in my back then move down my legs. Sometimes it hurts so bad that I can hardly walk. I've been to the doctors many times, but they can never pinpoint what is causing it. Anyway, the doctor recently prescribed Tramadol for the pain.
Avatar f tn Hi.. I have been taking one 150mg of tramadol per day for back pain and I've noticed my legs and arms twitch is this normal or wAt could it be?
2117936 tn?1334693230 hello and welcome. did the doctor give you a taper plan? you cant stop tramadol cold turkey.it can cause seizures. some of the symptoms of withdrawal can be,anxiety, sweating insomnia, nausea, shakiness, diarrhea, brain zaps.
Avatar m tn ve been on it for much of your life so for me Tramadol helps with the little things while maintaining less abuse potential. Everyone is different and abstinence is not always the goal ahead of self care assisted by a drug similar to codeine v full agonist. Plus Tramadol assists to deal with the withdrawal and rehab elements using a far less load than the others for me.
Avatar m tn Have you tried to give up tramadol and had problems with the withdrawal or are you yet to try? How long have you been using tramadol for? I just tried giving it up for the first time yesterday. I took my last pill at 1 am on December 31st and had caved in 19 hours later.... I am thinking I need to taper but I just want to get this over and done with as soon as possible. We can get through this together!!!
Avatar n tn Whoever has a success story and name of their surgeon, please email me at ***@**** for supraorbital neuralgia, then I will discuss with you details of my case. I had surgery to brow area in 2015, and in 2016, wasted a lot of time seeing neurologists, and specialist for nerve blocks and specialists who cudnt tell me what I had except to say probably scar tissue compressing nerves. It is believed all these injections made more damage to an already sensitive area.
Avatar f tn I was successfully addicted to tramadol for many years !!!! As IBK said tell us more tramadol can be just as addicting as other opiates. doctors are big on saying its not addictive but many of us found out the very hard way that was wrong ....
