Avatar n tn He knows nothing about Doctor Shopping, it was my idea for him to see a doctor somewhere to get help for his severe pain - he has degenerative arthritis in his neck with compressed and bulging disks so I thought I was helping by taking him to my local doctor (I didn't realize he wouldn't mention the Tramadol and I think his anger, etc.

Avatar n tn I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help. So finally she gave a prescription of Tramadol 50mg.. it doesn't work. I don't what to do, I can sleep, I can't move my head, it's hard to drive.
Avatar m tn Would I be setting the w/d back if I took one 50 mg tramadol? Not looking to get high just want the pain to go away. I don't want to do anything to set back the w/d but the last couple of days have been headache hell.
1159737 tn?1286517257 OH- Because I used to be a pill addict and told them that from the beginning so that I wouldn't get myself into trouble LOL - I knew they would be giving me something for pain and I was aware I would need it but it's a fine line you brain walks in thinking you NEED more pain control or wanting something. I never actually talked to the nurse or dr. just the lady that answers the phone. And also right now my medicaid is cut off so county hosp. is really my only option right now.
446097 tn?1223694666 The other times I have tried to stop the Norco the nerve pain came back with a vengeance. This time is different as I feel the neck pain and back pain has subsided to a manageable level. I am taking Lyrica at night (nerve inhibitor) which has been great! As you know, the WD's are nasty and I have had this bottle of Tramadol lying around for months. I took ONE yesterday and it really helped subside the headache and chills.
Avatar f tn Hello Everyone. I have had neck pain for about two years now. It is always on my right side, at the base of my skull/top of my neck. Sometimes accompanied by a headache in my right temple, sometimes not. The pain feels like muscle pain, in that it feels better (for just a few minutes!) after I or someone else rubs my neck. I've been to a chiropractor and that helps for a bit (less than a day) and then the pain comes back.
Avatar f tn It worked great along with my tramadol and muscle relaxers for 3 years. The problem that I have now is that the subs are no longer helping my pain. I have had injections and steroids by mouth with no relief. Should I ask my doctor to switch me back to normal pain medication? I have never abused my meds or have addiction issues.
Avatar m tn I have suffered from severe nerve pain stemming from my lower spine/siatic nerve and shooting down my right buttocks and leg. I recently came down with shingles and the Prednisone caused adverse effects so doc gave me Klonopin to counter act the prednisone. In this time my nerve pain has been 99% better then it was. While the klonopin does make me a little tired I am still able to function on a normal level only at a slower pace.
Avatar f tn The neurologist has prescribed Tramadol for the pain. By relieving the pain in this manner am I facing replacing one drug for another? I have never in my life misused any prescribed drug and have never taken any illegal substance. I feel secure in my sobriety however I've read you can become addicted to Tramadol even when you take it as prescribed. The doctor is aware that I've had a problem with alcohol in the past. Opinions please.
Avatar f tn high blood pressure, runs in my family (which I am currently taking medication for), depression, anxiety, and chronic neck and shoulder pain (I have been in treatment with a physiatrist for 3-years now). Medications used to treat shoulder, neck, and arm pain include: gabapentin, lyrica, Cymbalta, tramadol, Norco 10/325, steroid injections, and physical therapy (with no positive results).
Avatar f tn I am recovering from major abdominal surgery. I am taking Tramadol, which handles the pain ok. However I am having flair ups of occipital neuralgia headaches (nasty) I got when taking antidepressants. It made sense when I learned that Tramadol uses the same mechanism. Can't take nsaids because of an ulcer. Don't want Celebrex for same reason and leaky heart valves. Sigh. Is there a good alternative I could suggest. We are just talking about a couple of weeks probably.
Avatar f tn Now I am having pain in back and neck. I was sent by my primary Dr., for bone scan. He said it shows 4th 5th. 6th and neck vert. with swelling it bothers me daily. But it is now worse than it was like 5 years ago when I had previous bone scan. Have any of you ever had this problem if so what did you take for the days when it really is hurting? I don't want take the new drugs with all the side affects that are out now.
Avatar n tn I take tramadol for pain in my neck and back. Since I started I have been constipated. Does tramadol cause this? I try to go without laxatives but when I get to the 6th day, I am so uncomfortable that I resort to the laxative. Is this safe for me to do? I have tried metamucil, fruit, stool softeners etc. Nothing works except enema's or stimulant laxatives.
Avatar f tn STAY AWAY FROM TRAMADOL!!!!. I was on the tramadol train way longer then I should have been. It's just as addicting as everything else! Alot of people on here have had major issues with it including myslef just search it and read about the tramadol wd's they are awful!!! I was terrified of the sickness and the wd's. I did taper but it was still difficult to go from 10+ a day to 1 to zero. I still felt the wd's.
Avatar f tn I would need to take something else the other month. I was in Hawaii recently and I saw what coconuts look like growing on a palm tree. There is a tough green husk and underneath is the brown coconut we know, and inside of that is the white coconut "meat". Tramadol is the first medicine I've taken that gets all the way to the "meat" of my endometriosis pain.
1232362 tn?1333135406 over the past 2 weeks, but especially past 24 hrs I've had increasing neck pain that I also feel on the outside of my right arm. I now have pain doing things like lifting light items like a quart of milk or opening the venetian blinds, turning my head to the right is painful. The pain is not like a typical stiff neck, but like I'm being sliced open with no anesthesia. I do have a herniated disc at c6 which I had a cervical epidural for almost a year ago. Could this be acting up again?
Avatar n tn Hello, I have had a low-grade fever for a month, with intense body aches in my back, neck, legs that don't go away with pain pills. I have had a sever headache for a month, with nausea. I have had a clear CAT scan of the brain and abdomen, with a clear spinal tap. It seems to be getting worse, i can barely walk to the bathroom. Any ideas... I'm taking Prochlorporazine for nausea, which helps, but the doctor has me on tramadol which doesn't help the pain in my body at all.
Avatar f tn I DO have personal experience with Tramadol - I took it for over 14 years; started on it for back pain @ prescribed dose and it took over my life from there. At the time I quit I was taking up to 50 pills a day. It literally almost killed me 4 times (all seizures due to overdoses). This is NOT a med that is to be taken lightly, or as "non-addictive", "non-narcotic", etc. It sounds like you have figured this part out already.
Avatar f tn I will be going to Stanford soon and hopefully they can adjust it. Do you know any other medicines like Tramadol that are good for pain that are non narcotic?
Avatar f tn She has been through all the drugs (lyrica, Gaba, Ami) and she told me that it is the only one that worked for her. However, she is using it more for musculoskeletal pain...but I have heard from others that it does work for headaches and pressure too. She told me the only side effect she has from it is that she is a bit tired and gets a dry mouth. The drowsiness doesn't affect her daily life though.
1909342 tn?1321993880 I usually take one Tramadol ( 50 mg ) a day for a somewhat chronic pain in my neck, back and shoulders, since I cannot afford physical therapy at the time. Yesterday I took a lot of Ibuprofen and Paracetamol instead, because I had an important exam at the University and didn't want to be groggy. I am concerned, when to start taking Tramadol again or going with the combination of Ibuprofen and Paracetamol instead, since Ibuprofen also has an effect on inflammations. Am I taking to much?
798548 tn?1237503653 so because i am waking with horrible pounding headaches and have pulsatile tinnitus all the time and because i am on tramodol for neck pain shoulder pain, and because i have tons of nerve pain he wants me to try the ametriptyline, but i read about all the horrible side affects you can have taking them i am afraid to take them. i was on neurontin before and had very bad reaction to it. i appreciate you both writing to me and your experiences.
Avatar m tn Anyway, the doctor recently prescribed Tramadol for the pain. It did help ease the pain, but I also found out that it helped with another big problem I have...depression. I've tried Effexor, Wellbutrin and a few other meds in the past for my depression, but they really didn't do much for me. The Tramadol, I have found, works for the depression like the others couldn't. I have energy. When I wake up, I actually feel like doing stuff. I don't feel negative.
Avatar f tn Okay so, I have been taking tramadol and flexeril for my low back pain as a result of a bulging disc. I've been taking my meds for about 10 months now with some relief. But recently i've been taking more due to the fact that there not working at all like they were in the begining. I wake up every morning feeling like i've been hit by a bus, and it takes me 30 minutes to ease myself out of bed. My pain is at a whole new level, sometimes its sohard to even walk anymore.
