Avatar m tn org/wiki/Tramadol#Uses It has been suggested that tramadol could be effective for alleviating symptoms of depression, anxiety, and phobias[11] because of its action on the noradrenergic and serotonergic systems, such as its "atypical" opioid activity.[12] However, health professionals have not endorsed its use for these disorders,[13][14] claiming it may be used as a unique treatment (only when other treatments failed), and must be used under the control of a psychiatrist.
Avatar m tn m prescribed Tramadol, Clonidine, Mirtazapine, and Lorazepam. I doing very good and have no depression and much less anxiety. (Turns out Lorazepam actually is more effective on me than Klonopin, weird). But has anyone one else had a similar experience? (I understand people have other views/opinions on the use of Tramadol for depression, but please don't post just to tell me I shouldn't be on it.). I am just really interested to see if anyone else out there has a similar story.
Avatar m tn ve been reading on other sites that others have had similar success with Tramadol and that some doctors are even prescribing it for depression. In fact, from what I have been reading, Tramadol works like venlafaxine (Effexor) does, even when it comes to the withdrawals, or easing off the medication. I was just wondering if there was anyone else out there who has had the same results with Tramadol or has been prescribed Tramadol for depression?
Avatar f tn I was on tramadol and norcos for over 10 years and was put on seizure meds due to the tramadols causing seizures! Stay away from trams they are the worst!!! You are doing great and can get threw it!
Avatar f tn I have horrible depression and anxiety that causes mood swings, suicidal thoughts and intense anger. Its not bipolar since its not manic and doesn't go up or down.I used to be a heavy pot smoker which kept it under control. Well I smoked after my first son was born and noticed I got heavily addicted to it. (Bitchy without it and fiending it constantly) My doctor prescribed zoloft but I didn't feel any different and didn't change my mood at all.
Avatar m tn I am very worried and was wondering are feelings of deep depression/anxiety common after abusing drugs like Tramadol? I know it is an opiate, so maybe a serotonin over load or something? ): I also still feel sick to my stomach. Any help would be greatly appreciated! "Also I am aware of my stupid decision and plan on never, ever doing it again.
5093508 tn?1390543931 s often used as an off-label for anxiety/depression and to keep taking it. I had been OK for a few months, mentally, even if not physically, but I was quite happy again. I was put on Tramadol 3 weeks ago, as an adjunt to my other pain meds, to help relieve arthritis pain. It worked for 4 days, but I started feeling a little weird, so got a fright and decided to wean myself off it. My doctor had told me to just stop taking it if I start feeling anxious.
Avatar f tn Took Tramadol for 7 yrs. Got up to 15-20 pills a day. Recently went thru detox in May an now on day 53 pill free. Was put on Zoloft 50mg. an Clonapine for anxiety occasionally. Anyone dealing with Tramadol withdrawl. I mean mental? An how are you dealing with it? I see a psychologist an attend NA when I can. Excercise when I can. But some days good others bad. Any feed back would help. Thanks.
5203459 tn?1373367904 I actually probably take it a day on day off. Because I've been on the tramadol, my depression/anxiety symptoms having been as bad. It would be nice if they prescribed Tramadol for depression!!! It would be perfect.
Avatar f tn I suffer from Major Clinical Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder and Chronic Pain. I was initially prescribed SSRI based Anti-Depressants for my Depression and Tramadol 200SR for my pain. The SSRI medication "Ecitalopram" i was told would take 5 weeks to kick in. In that time i developed serious side effects and instead of taking me off this medication my doctor threw more pills at me.
Avatar n tn I think it is the tramadol or lack of it thats causing your depression it has an antidepressant in it and after use for a wile your brain gets use to having that little bit of extra help...you very well may need a new antidepressant to snap out of this I suffer with bipolar...and just recently went threw one of the worst depressions of my life it was the first time ever being clean and sober ....I hope to never go to that dark place again...
968560 tn?1307451498 Hi mpace6983, all I can say is I had the same problem with Tramadol and I also got insomnia from Tramadol and hydrocodone. So, I think you could try Valium but that is stronger I think. Maybe you have a cross reaction with another drug too? I know you will get a better answer on this site. Good luck and hope your pain gets better.
1019316 tn?1262615059 I am taking tramadol/ultram for a few days to help my Kratom w/d and it helped a lot! I can sleep n stuff. I only got a 30 pill prescription that will last the 5 days I need to finally be totally off the Kratom! YEAH!! Will taking tramadol for 5 days cause you to withdrawal from the tramadol? Doesn't seem like it... that is a normal amount of time to have a script. BTW the Kratom w/d's were worse than methadone w/d's several yrs ago. but are pretty much gone with the ultram helping.
2117997 tn?1339537769 I want to just take a couple 50mg for a few days and then go to 1 50 mg for a few days and see if it will take the edge off. The anxiety is just too much today. Woke up at 1 am and didnt get back to sleep. I am glad I left work so i wasnt temopted to hit up my former supplier there.
Avatar f tn YES there are meds you can get from a doctor that will ease your anxiety! Please see your doc right away, and just tell him that you tried tramadol for a few days awhile ago (use the 'old prescription' excuse), and that it made you feel better. BTW, i do NOT recommend lying to your doctor about anything, but in this case, you are telling him without saying you get it off the street).
Avatar m tn A physician may be able to prescribe you some Neurontin (gabapentin) for general malaise, anxiety and muscle cramps, Requip for the restless leg syndrome and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia. The reason for this longer depression and insomnia symptoms is because Tramadol, besides affecting the opioid receptors, has an effect on the serotonin receptors in the central nervous system.
Avatar f tn I currently take generic Zoloft and also take tramadol for low back/hip pain. I take about 150-200 mg/day and have the same problem when I try to wean off. I was down to just 50/day, but was having anxiety and naseau and would easily get depressed and angry. I hate having to take pills, but they help and get me through the day as a happy, "normal" person.
1322679 tn?1274583713 I am also on anatripolyn (?) for depression. I have been reading alot of posts from people and I knew what I was to expect coming off this crap. And to think it wasent that great of a drug.......

My Xanax was even taken away! According to the Gov I will take a Xanax and a pain med,go to sleep and not wake up,oh please. I have been put thru so much in the last year it’s unacceptable.
Avatar m tn d get a few week and they would be completely debilitating. After a few visits to the GP, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression and given sertraline as he thought the migraines were due to stress. I was doubtful, but it significantly reduced the amount of migraines I would get - down to 1 or 2 a month. However, in march 2017 I developed a persistent headache. Some days it would be mild (around 2 or 3/10 pain score).
Avatar m tn Actually, what has been most difficult for me has been the anxiety and depression. On certain days, even little things could set my anxiety off, things that would not typically cause anxiety under normal circumstances. Like temporarily not being able to find my keys or something fairly trivial. Loud sudden noises would set me off as well. Same for the depression. There were times where it felt like a dark cloud was just hanging over, and raining down.
323551 tn?1255174750 i took T for over 3 years. 8 days off of tramadol is HUGE! The depression was the worst part for me. best of luck to you and please hang in there!
