I wanted to get off Tramadol so I quit taking it 4 days ago and am having horrible anxiety, insomnia and having a hard time forcing fluids. Although I'm a nurse, I want someone to take care of me now! I was taking two 50mg Tramadol three times a day for a year and a half. I am seeing my PCP this Tuesday and was wondering what I can ask her about helping me these horrible unrelenting anxiety attacks and what is there that I can take for this daily chr pain that is not addictive.
I am at the end of my first day off Tramadol which was prescribed to me by my doctor for the last year for a repetitive stress injury. I don't want to take it forever so I decided to get off it as I am going back to school. I have two weeks before my intensive 4 week chemistry class starts and I am having a hard time concentrating. Does anyone know if this will get better in two weeks? I am worried that I won't do as well as I should in chemistry if I can't concentrate.
I am having a hard time dealing with withdraw from not taking my Tramadol for 3 days.I'm so tired I don't want to get out of bed, my anxiety level is through the roof.I eat but feel sick after I eat something. When I lay in bed my legs won't stop moving, I'm hot one minute cold the next.
You may be more likely to have a seizure while taking tramadol if you have a history of seizures or head injury, a metabolic disorder, or if you are taking certain medicines such as antidepressants, muscle relaxers, or medicine for nausea and vomiting. Take tramadol exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take it in larger doses or for longer than recommended by your doctor. Do not take more than 300 milligrams of tramadol in one day.
Hang in there, this will pass. Emily was prescribed klonopin for anxiety that only started after being on tramadol for a while. She was on the klonopin for at least a year & had a very hard time when tapering off. You can read back through her journal for her experiences. Benzos are best avoided but IMHO, based on Dr Ashton's recommendations & my experience, the least damage would be done by using the lowest effective dose of valium at night & tapering off that.
How long do the withdrawal symptoms last I have been taking TraMADol hcl for over a year for a back injury. I am trying to go cold turkey.
A physician may be able to prescribe you some Neurontin (gabapentin) for general malaise, anxiety and muscle cramps, Requip for the restless leg syndrome and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia. The reason for this longer depression and insomnia symptoms is because Tramadol, besides affecting the opioid receptors, has an effect on the serotonin receptors in the central nervous system.
Don't take the ultram/tramadol. I was addicted for almost 3 years to the stuff. I'm 20 days ct. Look up the thomas recipe, it has helped me. Some drs are misinformed about ultram.
(150 mg twice a day- now at 150 mg once day) and I also take Xanax as needed for my anxiety/panic attack. (I was going through many financial problems after my divorce and had 3 surgery within 18 months. So my life had made a drastic change, so just getting back into normalcy. I was addicted to lorab's been taking them for over 10 years and today is day 5, for me, I went to my Dr last week and asked him for something non narcotic and he prescribed me Tramadol, so now I am confused, I did not know people could get addicted to these, now I am rethinking even taking it, Good luck on your recovery Renee
What's the deal with tramadol? Been using it for years. Built up a tolerance for it and take twice as much as I used to for the same pain relief. It does not get me high like opiates so it is safe right?

I have been on tramadol for over 5 years now. Recently taking about 8-9 pills a day, 50 mg. I was supposed to be able to refill today, as my pharmacy will refill this script a day or 2 early. However I got that call about 45 min before I was going to pick up my script, saying since I have refilled my rx early the past few times, I would not be able to refill till Thursday..2 days from now. I had about a days worth left, but my anxiety still went threw the roof after that call!
She was hoping that it was due to me not sleeping well and that after time it would go away. She prescribed me Tramadol for the pain. I could now believe how well Tramadol took away my pain. It was like a miracle drug and it didnt give me the same fuzzy feeling like Vicodin. But of course like everyone over time I up my dosage myself. I started at about 6 pills a day and now I am up to 12-18 a day. I do not know what to do.
Pains from Tramadol withdrawals are more acute than pains from hydrocodone withdrawals and then there are those Lovely Anxiety Attacks Tramadol is famous for. Hydrocodones never gave me a panic attack. Before I had a panic attack I never thought they where all that serious of a thing. Then I had one, Damn, you feel like you are about to die, Literally. Nothing else can describe it to me, it just feels like you are gonna die.

The Thomas method is good but not for tramadol. The benzos should be used to sleep, but only for a couple days (i'd say max 5 days). Then, after that, you are on your own. It will take a couple weeks to a month to feel better. Exercise as much as you can!!!! That will help the most. I know that you won't feel like it, but you should really try to do it.
I wanted to add that I know I have a problem. I started pills for actual pain and now only take them for the high. Everytime I taper down and I'm doing good for a week, I get bored and think "well I'll take 4 at once, just this once". Well we all know how that goes. Next thing I know I'm going from taking 6 a day back to 15 or more. But I am ready to stop.
and have had this secret addiction for 10 years off and on but now the time has come to quit after my addiction has gotten me in legal trouble manipulating a prescription. I knew this was coming...I have been off tramadol for a week but after two days of ct, I had a dental surgery which gave me me oxycodone which I have tried to use sparingly to deal with the withdrawals of tramadol. I'm using less than 40 mgs since last week 20 in the a.m. and 20 in the p.
I had both of my knees replaced and was put on Tramadol. I have been on Tramadol for 4 months at 50mil dose every 8 hours. I have gotten the dose down to 1 50mil a day, right before bedtime. At night my feet tingle like they are asleep, numbness along me legs, butt, stomic and lower back. Yesterday was my first day without anything,,after 5-6 tries. I feel like I am going to throw up with all the systems but the tingling part and normal body aces.
Hi I have been taking Tramadol capsules 50mg for about 18 months 4 a day for degenerative Spondylolisthesis (slipped lumber discs). At first they were amazing they not only took the pain away but gave me such a wonderful feeling of well being .However as time wore on I have noticed that though they reduce the pain now only somewhat I find I am feeling terrible as a whole heap of unwanted symptoms have started creeping up on me.
Hello There: I came off 14 Norco's a day tapering and when I went C/T I would take 1 ultram a day whenever my pain dictated it. (then I switch to alleve) This went on for about three weeks and I never had an issue with that but I also never exceeded 1 a day. That is my experience. It seemed to work well on my knee pain and I did not get addicted. I think like any drug, if you begin to take 5-10 of these a day, you will suddenly be hooked. Just my two cents.
Hello Andrew, I'm sure you have probably received replies to your posting by now, but I thought I should let you know about my experience with Ultram (tramadol). I was taking Ultram for about 6 months, right after its introduction, for lower back pain from 2 spinal surgeries. During this time, I was also suffering from depression. I was prescribed elevil (tricyclic antidepressant) along with Ultram. These two meds didn't mix!
I was prescribed tramadol for chronic daily tension headaches. I have been on it for about 3 months, I'm supposed to take 4-6 a day, but I take more like 10-15 and I'm already physically dependent. I have tried to cut down, and I get terrible headaches, cramps, aches, vomiting, unbearable fatigue and depression. I want to stop taking it because it doesn't help my headaches much, and I don't want to need a pill to feel normal. 1. Is it really worth tapering, or am I just prolonging my misery?
I don't know much about tramadol. I was on it for about 6 months in the past but luckily didn't suffer with any major withdrawals. I do know it must be tapered as it can higher the risk of seizures. I tapered pretty slow when I was on it so I'm guessing that's why I didn't feel bad. I do know there are withdrawals from all of the horror stories I have read. Some end up getting on an antidepressant once they are done tapering the trams.
I was addicted to Tramadol. I can't speak for others but for me it made me feel irritable towards others and I'd be happy doing one activity for hours on end by myself. I thought it made me a happier and more sociable person because it took away any anxiety I used to feel in social situations but looking back I really isolated myself from family and friends. I just felt so good doing my own thing. I'm sure in others these feelings I had could be more pronounced.
I have been on Tramadol for about 2 yrs. At first it worked for my pain and made me feel very good and ontop of the world. After awhile I had to keep taking more and more until I was abusing it just to be pain free. It was a never ending cycle running out starting to go through withdrawls and then getting back. Well today is my ninth day off of it and I am in pure agony!!! I do not know what to do. I do not want to go back to it but, I can not live like this. How long do the withdrawls last?
BUT HOW MUCH LONGER CAN THESE ANXIETY ATTACKS CONTINUE ON FOR? THEY'RE ABOUT DRIVNG ME CRAZY! THANKS FOR LISTENING!
