699217 tn?1323438700 I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same thing, EXCEPT oxycodone is a quick release tablet, and oxycontin is a slow release of the same med. Hydrocodone is the ingredient in Vicodin and Lortab. Although they are all narcotics, vicodin and lortab are lesser strength than the oxy's and morphine.

Avatar m tn m prescribed Tramadol, Clonidine, Mirtazapine, and Lorazepam. I doing very good and have no depression and much less anxiety. (Turns out Lorazepam actually is more effective on me than Klonopin, weird). But has anyone one else had a similar experience? (I understand people have other views/opinions on the use of Tramadol for depression, but please don't post just to tell me I shouldn't be on it.). I am just really interested to see if anyone else out there has a similar story.
216046 tn?1193943404 This very old thread is about Tramadol and Lyrica. I almost didn't see your comment - and doubt others will see it at all. If you wish to make a comment to be seen on the web when searched - and to be seen by our members please start your own thread. Click on "Ask a Question" it's simple to do. As for your comment, there are variables and this subject needs much more than a one-liner. It's complex.
Avatar f tn Hi again. I noticed your post about oxycontin. That's another med I'm on that I want to get off, as with all the other meds I'm on, as none are working any more for what they were prescribed for in the first place. I have to deal with tramadol withdrawal first though. Anyway, I'm on 20mg oxycontin morning, and 30mg afternoon, plus oxycodone 5-10mg for breakthrough pain.
Avatar n tn I had quit an oxycontin addiction of over 5 years only to be prescribed Tramadol - my doc. even knows about my oxycontin addiction. However, I have heard some horror stories about Tramadol as well, about its dependencies and withdrawal problems. The thing is - I do have legitimate muscle/bone pain that needs to be treated in some fashion. I guess I'm just worried that taking Tramadol will become addictive and just another monkey to get off my back. Please help me figure this out.
Avatar f tn Hi, I take Tramadol for my chronic back pain. Initially my pain Dr. did not want to prescribe Tramadol for me since I take Effexor for depression. But after taking so many pain meds, and needing to try a new one, he agreed to let me try Tramadol slowly. The Tramadol has worked well for me, and luckily I didn't have any problems with the combination of drugs. Actually the Tramadol has really helped my mood ( I think because of the snri). So I have started to taper off the Effexor.
Avatar f tn maybe tapper down to percocet (5mg oxycodone) and then down to tramadol and klonopin ...clonodine def good idea too...goodluck!
15290316 tn?1447023108 I forgot to mention how much Tramadol I was taking. I was prescribed four a day. They were 100mg tablets. I believe they are extended release. The most I took in one day in the past week was three. That's when the headache got worse and I put two and two together and realized that the Tramadol and migraine seemed to be related.
Avatar m tn I am not a doctor and you should consult a doctor before taking my or anyones advice of medication and WD processes because everyone is different. I am at day 7 of WD's and my method worked great with MINIMAL WD symptoms. I Still feeling a few but its very tolerable and can be dealt with easily. I have experienced very very horrible WD's in the past and came up with my own method of stopping.
Avatar f tn I am currently addicted to Oxycontin and have been for a year. I'm trying to get off them but do not want to go through the terrible withdrawal symptoms. I know what it's like because I've gone a day without oxy's, but just found some the next day and got back on them. The worst part is the back pain. It feels like my back is rotting off. My knees ache. My neck throbs. There's no hope for sleeping without them.
Avatar n tn Six months ago I used Suboxone to get off a 640mg habit. Did real good until I hurt my back. I got real depressed with lots of pain and started to take them again. I'd like to get off and heard of tramadol helping. Suboxone withdrawal was awful for me. This site makes tramadol sound like a bad idea. Beginning to think I have to go away or go to rapid detox.
Avatar f tn Yes, I have read the dangers of CT and Tramadol. avisg as well as some others have already posted to another of my threads and we all agreed that getting him down to at least 10 (or less) by the time we CT should be fine. Unfortunately, tapering just is not an option. I have tried three separate times to taper and each time his need outweighed the program and he got more pills.
Avatar n tn twould be best to leave all narcotics alone...u r trying to shake this whole ball of wax so caving to trams is not the answer...have u talked to ur dr about a sedative or sumpin to help? trams do not follow the same pathway as other narcotics/nor sub/but advising u to use them when u r trying to get clean is just not in the vocabulary of most on this forum/as it is another addictive drug with its own set of problems..
Avatar f tn I'm not on either codeine or trams but I am on neurontin for pain which I am not going to be able to take. It literally is making one pupil larger than the other even though I have drastically reduced the dosage. I cannot see straight. It is doing other things also, but the eye part is the worst. My doctor offered me trams which I flatly turned down and then asked her what the difference was between trams and codeine. She said they affect different receptors.
Avatar f tn I have read horrid stories on this website regarding Tramadol addiction, and the last thing I want to is get hooked on these. I am curious, do you think I could use these short-term like for the next 30 days or so without getting hooked on them. I thought Tramadol was a “Non-Opiate medication, but an “Opiate-Like” medication. ( I don’t want to be taking opiates any more) Do you know if that is true? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I need some advice on getting off this ****. Im down to 40mg today and plan to go to to 20 on tuesday and wed. 10mg thu and friday 5mg sat - mon and then all the pills are gone. What should i expect? Will i have those awfull cold turkey withdrawl symptoms like I have had in the past? will taking a little tramadol help me with the W/D sytoms?
439522 tn?1214951189 It just started out taking 30 pills per month, then 90, then 120, then oxycontin and then back down to 8-10 5mg per day, and I took 4-5mg per day for two days and then quit Friday at 5pm. I am so ready to feel better to get over this stuff. I keep remembering about how when I was on it and I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. Sure, I had more energy, but it wasn't "me".
439522 tn?1214951189 Hey, all. I'm coming off oxycontin and hydro. Done with Oxy a week ago...just tapering down to hydro at 4 - 5mg per day, then 3 per day the next week, 2 the next week, 1 the next week and then done. I'm also using .1mg clonidine, which has REALLY helped...I tried cold turkey before (twice) and never made it this far. However, the Dr. prescribed me 50mg tramadol to use (like 10 refills of 60 pills). He said it is pretty strong, but less than codeine and not a narcotic.
Avatar f tn Now pain consultant taken me off the tramadol and puit me on oxycontin (but they didnt tell me id react badly to coming off tramadol, so for the last 5 days ive had complete withdrawl symptoms and am shakin, sweating, panicking, anxious, adjitated, etc) and the oxycontin isnt helping at all and im in so much pain. They said they may inject into the facets in 3 months, but they cant at the moment as the area is to painful to touch at the moment.
Avatar f tn if I take this Tramadol (50 mg pills) for the next few days, will it make it easier to get off the opiates? And will I have withdrawal from the Tramadol if I only use it in low doses for a short time? Any information would be greatly appreciated. At this time I am prepared to deal with my pain with no medication at all to avoid the horror of addiction.
Avatar f tn Hi. I hope this forum is still active. I and my husband are both addicted to Tramadol. It happened when I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and my husband with multiple sclerosis about 2 years ago. We want to stop this horrible drug; it is taking over our lives. It’s not helping us with the pain, we just taking it so to not get the bad withdrawal symptoms. I have appointment with my doctor June 6, I want to tell him about Suboxone. Anyone has used suboxone to help with withdrawal symptoms?
Avatar f tn not exactly..oxy in theory is a bit stronger than hydro..and sub is a different type of narcotic than the other 2..but conversoin charts do compare the strength of sub to other narcotics..but it is not really the effect they r comparing//but the strength...i do believe there is a conversion chart in avisg's journal...
439522 tn?1214951189 I've got a question. I'm tapering down from Oxycontin (done a week ago) and now hydrocodone (down to 4 per day- 5mg). Dr. has me on .1 clonidine to help with the physical withdrawal symptoms as we move down. But, today he prescribed me tramadol...with lots of refills and for long term use. I had never heard of it, and the point was that I decided it was time to move off opiates and try some other non-narcotic pain relievers.
Avatar m tn I am also a chronic pain sufferer with similar pain as you have and my doctor did a taper from Vicodin, and switched me to Tramadol 50mg after a few days taking the Tramadol I bailed out I went C/T. I am controlling my pain with over the counter meds, I was on Vicodin for 6 years to long. Vicodin stopped working for me, I also had an on again off again love for H I've decided to stop seeing my doctor and I haven't gotten high on H.
Avatar n tn t know how much of this was secondary to pain and how much was Oxycontin. I was never on high doseages but my withdrawl was hell, slept only once per week for three weeks after titrating off for a month. Now two years out and I still am over reactive and volitile. I have a hard time letting go of things that bother me. I used to be very easy going and not reactive at all. I am happy in my life, have no desire for Oxycontin. I am taking Wellbutrin and feel much better on it.
439522 tn?1214951189 he told me to ditch the tramadol (ULTRAM). He said it is an opioid (narcotic) and it is NOT a good medicine and has a very poor risk profile...especially for someone like me that is taking an SSRI. AND he said it was just as addictive and just as hard to come off as any other opioid (narcotic) drug. Just wanted to share this with you all. This was my doctor for about 6 years before I went to Mr. Quackhead and I really trust him.
