968560 tn?1307451498 Hi mpace6983, all I can say is I had the same problem with Tramadol and I also got insomnia from Tramadol and hydrocodone. So, I think you could try Valium but that is stronger I think. Maybe you have a cross reaction with another drug too? I know you will get a better answer on this site. Good luck and hope your pain gets better.
Avatar f tn This has happened with Demerol, Diluidid,Darvocet,Hydrocodone and Tramadol. I can take Tylenol #3 and morphine (post op in the hospital) with out any problems. Sometimes,if I take one of the itchy ones with Atarax and benadryl I'm ok for awhile, and then the itching will eventually get too bad and I will have to switch to something else. Tylenol #3 dosen"t work very well for the pain, so my PCP is always looking for something else to try.
Avatar f tn I was given flexeril and tramadol for muscle spasms due to herniated discs. The tramadol did nothing for the pain, I was able to receive some relief from motrin instead. I can't take stronger opioids because they make me nauseous. Morphine doesn't work for me either. Are the two medications related?
Avatar n tn I read more on Tramadol and also on narcotics etc. the term narcotics is a vague term that is used to decribe anything that makes you sleep, numb, etc. but as for legal terms narcotics are morphine, heroine, and other illegal drugs. As for Tramadol being a "narcotic" is does make you sleepy or numb pain etc. and works on the opiate receptors. So it has narcotic like properties but isn't on the list of illegal narcotic drugs. It is an analgesic.
Avatar m tn I've been taking pain pills narcotics for months now. I've tried to taper down ,but being an addict, I can't. I need to ask the dr. for a medicine that will get me through the physical withdrawals that I know i will go through. What medicine works the best?
Avatar m tn No one can figure out what this is. I HATE long term narcotics. A chriropracer helped a little bit. tramadol did work for me, but what is this? It's SO BAD. I can't sleep. It is literally a screaming pain and no one can figure out why. I am relatively healthy, not over weight, etc. How do you live with this kind of pain? I ******* need help before I kill myself Any ideas?
Avatar m tn they must not be...I shared a brief story yesterday how the ER which had me labled as a "substance abuser" because I went to them for help with Vicodin withdrawals, said "we can't give you narcotics" and gave me tramadol..and my doctor has given me tramadol and no one said a word about addiction. AND I WAS LABLED A SUBSTANCE ABUSER! Every thing I've read "do not give to people who have history of addiction to opiates..8per day I was prescribed to take..
1171652 tn?1264091397 Very poor choice to make - - check EmilyPost stuff or just put tramadol in the search engine - - narcotics to fix narcotics arent a good choice - and i cold turkey'd over a hundred mg's of methadone - - - have taken every pain pill in the book for years - my chronic pain has NOT been as bad since i quit the narcotics - - and I havent started PM or PT yet - - thats next week for therapy..... Dont get suckered into the tramadol...........PM me if you wish.....
Avatar n tn twould be best to leave all narcotics alone...u r trying to shake this whole ball of wax so caving to trams is not the answer...have u talked to ur dr about a sedative or sumpin to help? trams do not follow the same pathway as other narcotics/nor sub/but advising u to use them when u r trying to get clean is just not in the vocabulary of most on this forum/as it is another addictive drug with its own set of problems..
Avatar f tn t want anything narcotic for pain (because I was addicted to Vicodin). She gave me antibiotics and Tramadol. I filled these meds and took them as prescribed an hour ago. I do not know anything about Tramadol, so just looked it up online and some sites say that it is narcotic like. Is this medicine addictive? I really don't want to relapse and have no desire to take any narcotics. Can someone please tell me if they know anything about this?
Avatar n tn I have found the peaks and valleys to be there with narcotics (never taken tramadol). I have been having good and bad times. It is especially hard when the pain gets bad or stressful situations arise. It will get better. I just keep thinking back a year ago and wish I would have successfully quit then when I first tried. Think of how good things would be now. That day will come when all of us will look back and be thankful we got through these tough times.
Avatar f tn Yes, Tramadol is a wicked drug to come off of. I took it for a little under a year and when I stopped I about wanted to die. Its worse than narcotics (not Sub though). It took me about 10 days before I felt better. Hang in there.
Avatar n tn My back pain has been awful in the last few years, and Tramadol was the last resort (other than true narcotics). Thankfully, It helped for a very long while, it's just now it seems to not last very long. If my back pain weren't there, I'd stop it in a heartbeat, and I have several times when the acupuncture worked, but of course it stopped working after about a month. I thought building a tolerance to something meant for the effects -- not the duration.
Avatar m tn The LBP has gotten worse over the last 6 months and now they have prescribed oxycodone 7.5 mg 3-4 a day and I stopped taking the tramadol ( 1 month now), it took about 5 days to get through the withdrawls. I experienced restless leg syndrome, extreme fatigue. However now I have become dependent on this medication. After 4-6 hours I start experience chills, cold hands and feet, and constant yawning. 30 minutes later after I take a oxy it goes away and I feel good.
Avatar f tn I had brain tumor surgery in June and have been on Vicodin. In the last month i have been alternating (every 4 hrs) both Vicodin and Tramadol on a daily basis.I thought it would be a good way to decrease the Vicodin. I read the "precautions" for tramadol and it states "do not take with narcotics or other opioids". Then I realize that tramadol is just as addicting as vicodin. So why would a physician prescribe tramadol to try to get off the vicodin?
Avatar n tn Metabolism of tramadol and M1 is reduced in patients with advanced cirrhosis of the liver resulting in a larger area under the serum-concentration-versus-time to curve tramadol and longer tramadol and M1 elimination half-lives (13 hrs. for tramadol and 19 hrs. for M1). In cirrhotic patients adjustment of the dosing regimen is recommended (see DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION).
Avatar m tn Hi I'm new here so pl bear with me..... I've been suffering from chronic neck and back pain for the past 4 years and have had lots of nerve blocks, denervations and botox injections done - nothing has really helped. I've been given Tramadol ER 200mg x twice a day by my Dr and they seem to be working but are making me feel weird/really tired/tinnitus/tearful. Should I keep taking them And how long shall I give them before I know if they are really for me? Thank you all very much.
996658 tn?1249675169 There definitely exists the possibility of abuse and addiction with this drug. And its not any better than the other narcotics - just different. But it comes with its own sets of problems....... Read up on it...
Avatar m tn Ultram is nothing more than the Brand name for Tramadol and Ultram ER is a timed release of Tramadol. Ultracet is merely Tramdol and Tylenol in the same pill.
1036658 tn?1252769732 worrying bout pills all the times gets a bit stressful I am not sure where u r atin this addiction cycle/physicall, mentally or both///and both meaning u r an addict...u r on a relatively low dose of narcotics and narcotic-like drugs..get off the merry go round while u can.. andit is very likely the pills r causing u more pain than ur conddition..it is common among long term pain relief people goodluck..do u wanna quit? trams must be tapered..
1182411 tn?1265321044 Hey all... Well I've made it to day 13, absolutely zero vicodin / hydrocodone... BUT... I threw my back out pretty good last night and have been having horrendous pain. I went to the chiropractor today and got an adjustment and a few hours later it was worse! (The doc warned me of that, he say's it's pretty normal for that to happen.) I finally had to break down and take some Tramadol... I took 2 at about 2:00, 2 more at 6:00, and I took 2 more at 9:30.
439522 tn?1214951189 1 clonidine to help with the physical withdrawal symptoms as we move down. But, today he prescribed me tramadol...with lots of refills and for long term use. I had never heard of it, and the point was that I decided it was time to move off opiates and try some other non-narcotic pain relievers. I can't use NSAIDS due to GERD (I take nexium for it), and didn't even think twice about the tramadol (ultram).
1781282 tn?1314931590 ( i been on them for about 6 months and not i am planting my foot down to stop! the reason i became addiceted is because is the only thing that seems to help give me energy, motivation, happiness i feel so good on these pills! and it just sickens me because i hate when it wears off!! when im not on these pills i feel low motivation to clean basically do anything i of course HAVE to take care of my kids but its hard.. i like slug around.. i dont want to get out of bed im angry and no energy..
Avatar n tn from what i now of it, it is a very very weak narcotic. and from being here and reading posts they are very hard to get off of and even more dangeruos to get of off then loratbs. now i have never been on them my DOC was percs, so i really know nothing about them but from what i have read here they are pretty bad to come off of. so please be careful, and someone who knows more should be posting soon. wish you luck.
699217 tn?1323438700 I'll do my best..... Here is the easiest way to look at it, (i think?) ... Percocet has tylenol in it, however, oxycodone and oxycontin are just straight percocet, no tylenol. I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same thing, EXCEPT oxycodone is a quick release tablet, and oxycontin is a slow release of the same med. Hydrocodone is the ingredient in Vicodin and Lortab.
