In an recent Ct scan and ultra sound an ecogenic focus was discover on my right kidney (7mm)...my nephrologists told me it was a very small cyst, but she sent me to an urologist for further evaluation....My urologist said that this was a very small focus on the CT....and that he believed the cause of my pain comes from other sources ...such as my spine..and the disc problems I previously have( was diagnosed with DDD) few years ago....herniated disc on C-2-C3...Bulge on C4-C5....
Thank you all for sharing your stories and knowledge here! My 9 yo Shih Tzu, Berkley was just diagnosed with CKD. I brought him to the hosptial for an ultrasound and he comes home today after 4 days of IV fluids and assistance. He started not eating 2 weeks ago.

Ultrasound showed definite chronic kidney changes but they have not atrophied.
However flank pain can be caused from kidney stones, kidney infections, a kidney abscess or disease, arthritis of the spine, disc problems and as said earlier, muscle spasms. There are also other causes of flank pain...often other conditions can produce referred pain to the flank. Meaning the pain is actually being produced in one location but felt in another.
I would return to your PCP and investigate possible kidney issues....
First off, it bothers me when people say "abusing pills". Sorry, but you can not abuse an inanimate object. I also hate it when people confuse physical dependence with addiction. They are different in my book.
Anyway, I am having a problem with my back hurting in my kidney area.
When Dad is in heart failure he needs additional dosages of diaretics. Too much diaretic can effect kidney function and too little will effect heart function. We did see a kidney specialist concerning this, and the primary care physician is in communication with him.
Dad also has vascular dementia. I know how hard dealing with memory loss can be for both patient and family. I will keep you all in my prayers.
and creatinine is very poor test for kidneys function, for example body builders can have high creatinine but everything is fine...it is too dependent on muscles and many with kidneys damage never get it abnormal

I have had back pain around kidney area for a few months and went to docs. She examined me and said my right kidney was inflammed. I was starting to get some pain right side under ribcage too. Mild dull ache type pain. Also still around side and back. Went back 2 weeks later and she examined again and said kidney had gone down but could still feel it. Sent me for an Ultrasound scan. I went on Wednesday this week.Thursday the surgery called me to make appointmen for a blood test (LFT).
Perhaps the doctor could prescribe toradol for the kidney stone or even try ibuprofen or aleve otc.They may work just fine for you.Good luck in withdrawal and take the vitamins and nutrients.Your withdrawal will be easier than some,but the aftercare is just as important and you have to have a plan to deal with future pain without opiates or tramadol.
please talk to your doctor right away. do not replace vicodin for the tramadol. your doctor will give you a safe taper plan. you can not go cold turkey while pregnant it is dangerous.

Actually, tramadol (brand name is ultracet) and rimadyl are safe for dogs. I've had dogs on rimadyl for many years due to arthritis and they never had a problem with it. Tramadol was reserved for post-op pain treatment and only for a few days.
