We went to vet for immunizations. My schnauzer Buddy has kidney failure and I figured since we had a new puppy home we should make sure all our other dogs shots are up to date. doc gave immunizations, bordatella, parvo etc, then took blood to see how his kidneys are doing, I told Doc he has felt so good we couldn't believe he's even sick.
You find lots of info on the internet about tylenol and its effects but very little about tramadol. Any website that you know of that discusses the effects of tramadol on the bodies organs???
Say he was taking 8 a day he would need to take 7 the next full week then 6 the next week and so on. I am back on tramadol and have the hyperness and dry mouth but hopefully it will get the weight off. By the way, I have fibromyalgia.
My Dr. started me on tramadol about 2 months ago because of Chronic Pain and Fibromyalgia. It seemed to be working really well, I felt alot better than I have in a long time. About 10 Days ago, I thought that since I was feeling so much better that I didn't need to be taking it on a regular basis so I skipped a dose one night. I've only taken this medication as prescribed, but that one night where I skipped the dose, I woke up the next morning feeling very ill.
So I'm hooked on tramadol, without which I can't really walk with my back and the detox is hell, and living in a country where I can get them cheaply, without a prescription, at about 50 locations within a 5 minute walk to my house. Good news: they do have AA here! Bad news: NOT IN INGLES, and my lazy butt hasn't learned Spanish yet. I've tried quitting cold turkey a few times and haven't made in more than 2-3 days. I'm still not drinkin though.
I've been having a lot of pain on my right side, front, back and side and the pain takes my breath away. I had CT scans and ultra sound to determine if I had kidney stones. Then they sent me for x-rays with contrast and I was told I had a floating Kidney. The nurse for his office said there was nothing that I could do for the pain. "Just deal with it". Wow how can I when the pain takes my breath away and the pain is so bad that I have to lay down in bed until it goes away.
Dear Iris986, You raise several important issues. First of all, while kidney disease may make animals (and people) feel lousy (weakness, dehydration), in and of it itself it is not a painful disease. Some sequelae (consequences) of it can be painful such as stomach ulcers, oral ulcers, movement of uroliths (stones) or blockage of urinary pathways by such stones. It is not clear from your post why the dog is taking pain relief medication in the first place.
Not many people know of this problem with this drug, but I have seen it with my own eyes and talked to kidney dr's about it. So be very careful with the use of this drug, can be deadly!

I don't know if it would do him any harm though for him to hear how addiction is a family disease and how it can rip apart and destroy families. He should go to NA or AA though. Maybe you can go with him.

I have been on tramadol off and on for 3 years. I say off and on because when the scrip run's out is is usually for about 2 weeks, then I get it again. I sure wish I was strong anough to not get the scrip I have coming in 5 or 6 day's. Tapering off, weening yourself is best way, unless ther is ultra rapid detox, which, I do nont know about you, but I KNOW I cannot aford. I do not have a good support team here to help me. My husband is an alcholic (spledd right of course).
I wonder if this is causing the abdominal (upper right) pain I am having and the chronic UTI and Kidney infections and high blood sugar. HMMMM interesting. I hope I didn't screw up my kidneys. ALthough my kidney functions were fine just my ALT enzymes were a tad off and my potassium was low so I have to take extra potassium. NEVER EVER EVER order from the net. TOO easy to do. I guess I beter find some help. This SUCKS. I am a mommy and wife.
i took 150 mg of tramadol and 25 mg.of methadone for about 3 years..no withdrawal from Methadone precipitated by the Ultram for me, but everyone is different..in fact in the beginning, the Methadone-Ultram combo was the best high i ever had,but it never lasts and you end up chasing the monkey[high] till you die if you don't get clean..
I am becoming somewhat frustrated with the way a lot of my colleagues practice medicine. Disenchanted, angry would be the other words that could be used. We all get ostensibly that same training and all of us are supposedly in it to help our patients. So, how come have I been getting so many letters lately on my addiction forum from desperate people unable to quit taking the tramadol pills that their own kind doctors have so freely prescribed for them?
htm Low protein diets play a role in the treatment of several conditions, such as kidney disease, advanced liver disease, and some forms of dominance aggression. suffice it to say we were young, stupid and HOOKED. i had a terrible experience and terrible withdrawals with tramadol. i personally say, stay as far away from it as possible. good luck! i've been reading your posts btw...they are very inspiring.
Hello, I was really hoping to hear from someone who has chronic back pain and has taken tramadol and/or Vicodin/Hydrocodone while pregnant. A few years back I was in a terrible car accident leaving me with 3 herniated discs, 2 bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, and Interstitial Cystitis - so needless to say I am in a GREAT deal of pain and I am also 15 weeks pregnant!

I've heard over and over again on here that tramadol is absolute hell to get off of. Like people are complaining more than someone who is trying to get off harder opiates. What's the big deal with this drug? Can someone answer me with specifics? Also, is there anyone out there that has just taken it for a short time and then stopped with no problems? I just got clean from harder prescribed opiates, but am now taking tramadol for my chronic pain - after tylenol and ibuprofen don't work.
