The doctor put me on Tramadol for pain and made an appt. with my regular MD April 5th. I am scared because heart disease runs in my family, hypertension and stroke, some diabetes. I feel it would be wise for me to see my orthopaedist about my leg and see a specialist about my BP, cardiologist maybe. I have a heart murmur have since childhood, leaky valve, mitral valve prolapse.
Yes interactions can occur between SSRIs and Tramadol related to a rare condition called Serotonin Syndrome. Since you're not having any interactions, maybe your dosages are low enough not to be a problem.
But I agree with the previous post, definitely discuss your concerns with your Pharmacist and contact your Doctor if you feel like you need more info.

Collins is a foreign pharmaceutical company in Mexico. They use the same green/yellow capsules for multiple medications they produce, so it's really just a guess what's inside the capsules as they don't mark medications like in the US.
The two known medications they use that capsule with are 'Flocet' (fluoxetine) and 'Veldrol' (tramadol).
Among the drugs you are taking Cymbalta causes memory loss, Pamelor, cyclobenzaprine, nortriptyline, hydrocodone and promethazine cause confusion, Tramadol causes hallucination and together all these drugs can affect your memory. You need a serious revision of your prescription. Please consult your treating doctor. Take care!
need to do own research) i stopped all med for 48 hrs and tramadol and prozac permantenly and immediatly began feeling better...i called my dr when i figured out what was wrong and her nurse said she (the doc) doesn't think i had that...i left her and every time i mention this story to docs i encounter they are blown away no-one helped me...
You would need to ask your prescriber or your pharmacist about the potential for interaction. I honestly don’t know.
I would not advise taking suboxone after any opioid type pain medication unless you have cleared it with your doctor.
My neurologist just gave me some samples of Amrix, a time relased form of Cyclobenzaprine Hydrocholoride. He prescribed it for the pain and limited range of motion caused by tight neck muscles that didn't respond to stretching excersises. This is day two and I find it a remarkable improvement. I take it once a day in the evening and it seems the main sleepiness side effect is over while I sleep while the benefits remain the next day.
I have a theory going that I have elevated my levels of serotonin and norepinephrine by taking tramadol and that this will need to stabilize again before I am normal - ?
2. Since I haven't experienced WD's like this before on tramadol I am wondering if this feels more like the times I started up on antidepressant medicine especially since I have windows of "clarity”...is this even plausible?
3. Timeline.
Tramadol is now a scheduled drug, classified as an opiat (narcotic).. It has had that classification for several years.
My brother is on welfare and the doctors at the clinic have given him the following meds. Tramadol 50 mg, Trazadone 50mg,Amitriptyline 10mg, cyclobenzaprine 10mg, Hydrocodone/APAP 5mg/500mg. In addition he was also given medication for Diabetes Type II, metformin 850 mg, glipizide 5mg, lisinopril 5 mg, simvastatin 20mg, Asprin 81 mg, Ranitidine 150 mg. Additionally he was also prescribed Naproxen 500mg and Alumina Magnesia 360 ml. I think this is too much medication. Any suggestions?

If your Doctor is aware of the potential side effects of Tramadol and Maxalt and you are being closely monitored, then I apologize for alarming you. If not, you definitely need to talk to him/her about it.
Should you decide to discontinue one of these drugs before speaking with your Doctor, the Maxalt would be the one. Don't stop taking the Tramadol. It has to be tapered down.
I was in a car accident March 20th, 2009. I was put on cyclobenzaprine and naproxen for 3 months by my doctor to treat whiplash from mid back to neck. At that time I had a severe reaction to naproxen and developed severe ankle to hip pain. Then my doctor put me on tramadol with cyclobenzaprine. I was still experiencing shots of pain down my arms About a month later, so my doctor had me get a MRI of my neck.
t seem like too much to me. The Tramadol is not a narcotic and neither is the Cyclobenzaprine as that is the muscle relaxer. The Hydrocodone is a low dose so he should be alright.
Hepatic Impairment
In a pharmacokinetic study of sixteen subjects with hepatic impairment (15 mild, 1 moderate per Child-Pugh score), both AUC and Cmax were approximately double the values seen in the healthy control group. Based on the findings, Cyclobenzaprine HCl should be used with caution in subjects with mild hepatic impairment starting with the 5 mg dose and titrating slowly upward.
