Tramadol and celexa interaction

Common Questions and Answers about Tramadol and celexa interaction

ultracet

ultram (Tramadol) is an opioid pain medication and celexa (Citalopram) is a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) used for many different conditions such as depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. There is a risk/interaction when taking these two medications together, but it is not an absolute contraindication for their use in a patient, but should be avoided if possible.
ultram (Tramadol) and SSRI’s like Paxil, Zoloft, etc. All drugs mentioned here can easily be googled for detailed information.
So I'm hooked on tramadol, without which I can't really walk with my back and the detox is hell, and living in a country where I can get them cheaply, without a prescription, at about 50 locations within a 5 minute walk to my house. Good news: they do have AA here! Bad news: NOT IN INGLES, and my lazy butt hasn't learned Spanish yet. I've tried quitting cold turkey a few times and haven't made in more than 2-3 days. I'm still not drinkin though.
When I went back to my doctor for a follow up on Friday, he also decided to put me on Xanax (PRN) and celexa (10mg/1XD). I always research any medication I take, and have been reading that the Metoprolol Tartrate and the Citaprolam are a bad combination and can lead to extremely low blood pressure or even heart stoppage. I was wondering if anyone else out there has been prescribed these medications together, and if so, have you had any adverse reactions?

Hi Friends; Holy Mother of Tramadol FOG! Early morning and all morning has been ... the height of suckiness. It got better once I just cried. I felt better after that. I think now alot of the emotional stuff is hitting me. I'm not numbed by a drug and I have 5 years of emotional cellular storage to work thru I think. May I Trust Higher Power to restore me to sanity!? I got an email this morning from my Mother who says she's coming here in September? I can't even think that far in advance.
The combination of SSRIs like celexa (citalopram) and tramadol has been associated with serotonin syndrome and an increased risk of seizures. Although celexa's interaction is not as severe compared to other SSRIs such as paxil, the potential for this interaction still exists. You can continue taking your other meds, and it is ok to take Toprol XL and Synthroid together.
I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
sad all the time, want to just sob all the time look at my husband and kids and want to be everything I have been to them (a constant) I can't imagine telling them and will never!!!! I am so depressed..minutes feel like hours and life is not looking good at all right now!! I know this sounds minimal to others but I am living my own major hell....I just want to know someone elses story and know this will not last forever.
I went to a psychologist and was prescribed celexa and Zanax. The Dr. told me that it is common to experience real like symptoms during a panic attack, but they should diminish over a short period (10 min). I quickly realized that I was not going to rely on drugs to fix this problem and weened my way off of the drugs after only 3 weeks. I battled with my panic attacks for over 6 months, until I could control them and was prepared for them when they hit me full force.
I talked to the dr on wednesday they took like 15 x-rays and found nothing they put me on prednisone 2 pillls 1 time a day. she said if that dont help she is going to put me on a patch?!? she said its not like fentynal or moriphine. she said its more like viciodn. she said its a new drug and was wonderful if anyone else has used it? Please help i need more info... oh yeah she said i change the patch 1 time a week.
So I've been addicted to tramadol for 2 years and decided to just stop. I want to be healthy again and live my life normal. I've tried quitting cold turkey 2 times. So this time it's strange and I am so happy because I am on day 4 and the only thing I feel is pretty much like if I have a really bad flu but the restless legs are gone. One thing that has helped me was going on klonopin and clonidine. Has this worked for anyone else? I was also wondering when will I start feeling normal.
In Aug. of 2004, I had a car accident and was prescribed Ultracet (Tramadol w/ APAP) and Mobic for a torn rotator cuff. Had never taken either drug before. Took a Mobic, followed by an Ultracet. At first, I felt GREAT. I felt no pain! In fact, I felt euphoric. I chatted away with a neighbor, feeling on top of the world... though after a while, my ears started ringing and I was feeling a little dizzy. Then, I started to get a nauseating headache, and the ringing in my ears/dizziness worsened.
I went to my GP complaning of no sense of smell, saw a surgeon and surgery was recomended, I was given a prescription for Prednisone, a steroid, this gave me some sense of smell, and here's the but, I had the operation and still could not smell, so more Prednisone, well the upshot is that the steroids have caused my Osteo-Necrosis, this is when the heads of the long bones die, so have now had core decompression on one hip and the other totally replaced. Oxycontin.
So, what dose did everyone here have their success? And what type of diet/eating plan and exercise plan did you do to help it along? I'm desperate to lose 40 lbs (half of which I gained on Zoloft-no longer taking). PLEASE respond if you had any weightloss on this drug, I'm very curious. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
