Common Questions and Answers about Tramadol and aspirin

968560_tn?1307455098 tramadol didn't help me at all. And opiates never help me and this drug, while not classified as an opiate acts in the same way. I understand that toradol should never be used for more than 5 days at a time and it is an extremely strong anti-inflammatory that is usually used in a hospital setting. I hpe you get some relief soon.
Avatar_m_tn About a week ago, I found an old prescription of tramadol, written by my chiropractor so not even a controlled substance. I thought tramadol was like ibuprofen or aspirin, no big deal. On Sunday, July 20th, 2014, I took two tramadol tablets in a.m. 50 Mill each. Was 1st day not feeling suboxone WD's, and 1st day with-out any subox at all. Monday.... same thing. Two tablets of tramadol in a.m., no suboxone. Yesterday I took 1&1/2 tablets of tramadol and did same thing today. So...
1349329_tn?1276988802 Switching over to Vicodin from tramadol and tapering off the Vicodin seems to be working, and I am getting some sleep. I'm down to 9 Vicodin today. Monday I'll go down to 7 a day, and right now the Anxiety isn't so bad. By the end of the week I should be off all Vicodin, and on the road to getting my life back. MadTram, you've been through alot, and I'm sorry to hear of your suffering with this same horrible Sleep Anxiety. The CBT has been helping me over the past few days.
Business_man2 The human body develops tolerance to the analgesic effects of tramadol. That means, on regular use of tramadol, your body gets used to it and you will need more of the drug to induce the same level of pain relief. The most dangerous side effects of tramadol are respiratory depression , since it can shut down your breathing, and its ability to cause seizures. If the patient is taking certain medications for depression like Zoloft, it might cause a serious interaction called Serotonin Syndrome.
Avatar_m_tn For the last 10 yeras I have been taking Treo (aspirin combined with caffeine - 500 mg aspirin - 50 mg caffeine) - over the years I have taken a little more and a little more.. the result being that until the day before yesterday I was taking 4 in the morning, 4 in the afternoon and 4 before sleepy time. Luckily I haven't had any ulcers or physical reactions but this abuse can't continue - thank god for the after-tramadol hindsight clarity...
Avatar_m_tn i am Allergic to both aspirin and Panadol. Now i am taking tramadol but the side effect is so strong. Any other suggestions?
Avatar_f_tn But after taking so many pain meds, and needing to try a new one, he agreed to let me try tramadol slowly. The tramadol has worked well for me, and luckily I didn't have any problems with the combination of drugs. Actually the tramadol has really helped my mood ( I think because of the snri). So I have started to taper off the Effexor. I was on 150, now taking 75 mg and will be starting 37.5 very other day for the next month. I hope this info helps you make a decision.
1162610_tn?1262832616 Still craving the stuff though, but less and less it seems. Since I still have pain, now and then, I have been prescribed tramadol, rather than the narcotics. What are the narcotic effects, if any, of tramadol? I've only taken 1 or 2 a day, but with a hysterectomy coming soon I'm concerned for my needs for pain meds again. If I have to take more tramadol, how will that effect me? Thanks for your help.
Avatar_f_tn You take ibuprofen or Motrin or that category, and it causes renal insufficiency and possibly diabetes. aspirin is fairly safe if you don't take too much because it can cause bleeding problems. As far as I'm concerned, the rest are untouchables!!!
Avatar_m_tn Not a fast heart beat but just nervousness and dreading that I have to get up and go to work 2 hours later. I've tried aspirin, tylenol, ibuprofen, and just about everything else for this headache but it usually only helps for an hour or two.
Avatar_n_tn I don't know about headache being caused by tram and hydro. When I used it for wd I had tapered down to about 10 mg hydro a day for 2 days and then began tramadol. I only took a maximum of 6 50 mg tram a day and usually I would take only 5. I never got headaches. Once I stopped the tramadol the wds were there waiting for me but were not as bad as when i went cold turkey. I was still able to work even though I felt tired, kept sneezing constantly, mild tummy issues, and such.
Avatar_n_tn I have been in the medical field for 17 years and i know alot about meds..and tramadol is the WEAKEST OF THEM ALL..Lortab, perc's, oxys, are 10 to 20 times more potent..the tramadol isnt an opiate like the others..its in the family but it acts like an opiate and binds to the pain receptors to block the pain..its basically the flexerill of muscle relaxers...compaired to valium and soma..etc..
Avatar_n_tn A burned my leg badly on a motorcycle in 2006 and since then I've been off and on with tramadol. I used it for the pain from the burn. Then I used the tramadol for menstrual cramps, that was my excuse. Now I am taking them every day. It's like I need them, they not only do they relieve aches and pains they seem to elevate my mood too. I am so much more patient with my kids when I'm taking them, I have less appetite and seem to be just more mellow.
Avatar_f_tn phenergan is a good drug for the tummy and not habit forming..also helps anxiety and sleep..exercise helps most here..get up and just gor for it/easier said than done but it does work..congrats on 12 days clean..
Avatar_m_tn I suggest not taking the tramadol. I'm on day 24 off oxycodone that I took daily since I was 23 and I've been told that withdrawls from tram is a dozen times worse due to the anti depressant in it. Even my doc tried giving it to me a few months back telling me it's not addictive. They don't know anything. They're told what to say when these new drugs or sent to them or it's read from a pamphlet.
Avatar_n_tn Tylenol can cause liver failure at high doses and aspirin is very tough on your stomach and it will cause GI bleeds. I urge you to find a Pm Dr and in the mean time go to the Er and explain you have not yet found a Dr and see if they can help you out. Have you talked to your previous Dr about refills and a referral?
Avatar_f_tn I mean I will just take 3 neurontin as opposed to the two and take no tramadol. Yesterday, I only took one tramadol and today I took two. I hate this. My doctor is fully aware of the detox. She just is so sure that tramadol would be easy to come off of. with the way meds hit me she should know better. I surely do not want the withdrawal from the tramadols and I thank you for your help so I don't get stuck with that type of withdrawal!!
Avatar_n_tn I have been on tramadol off and on for 3 years. I say off and on because when the scrip run's out is is usually for about 2 weeks, then I get it again. I sure wish I was strong anough to not get the scrip I have coming in 5 or 6 day's. Tapering off, weening yourself is best way, unless ther is ultra rapid detox, which, I do nont know about you, but I KNOW I cannot aford. I do not have a good support team here to help me. My husband is an alcholic (spledd right of course).
Avatar_m_tn because I have used tramadol in between scrips..(but they never stood a chance)...and then I would get hydros and quit the tramadol... I am on Day 28 from 18-20 hydros a day....and I took 3 tramadol on day 4 and day 5...which did not seem to help with I quit taking the tramadol...and had to side effects. I was just wondering, you said that your took tramadol in place of opiates...hydro's, oxy, percs...and went through meth treatment 4 years ago....Just be honest...
5420258_tn?1406910257 I discovered this thread just last night (5/3/13) reading up on the Thomas Recipe and peoples reactions and WD's getting off of tramadol. You all seem like a very knowledge, caring bunch and I'd like to perhaps make some friends around here, if you'll have me. May I share a little about myself with you all? 37 year old SAHM, 2 little boys: one 3, one 5, hubby works full time managing a restaurant. That's now.
Avatar_f_tn if she stops within the next couple of days or weeks will or can it show up when she goes into labor in her or her newborn childs system???//and also is it safe???i know it has aspirin in it but is it considered to be a narcotic of some type.????..i need all my questions answered as soon as possible please thanks.
968560_tn?1307455098 I have recently gotten a script for tramadol and FOR ME it works wonders. Vicodin never touched the neck pain and soma just makes me sleep, hence no pain. I think a script of 40 has lasted me about 30 or so days and it says I can take 4 a day. Not a narcotic but it really helps.
413157_tn?1230741605 All I can add is I got some tramadol to try and wean off norco and vicodin and I took two at once) and I thought my heart was going to jump out. It was a horrible feeling....I hated that feeling and decided to go cold turkey. I am soooooooo happy I did. I was also nervous about the addiction part.....but I hated them. Infact, I am going to go flush them now...... sa1829....I would post your question on the forum so people can see it. There are people who can help with tramadol. GOODLUCK.
1672828_tn?1303937579 Feeling pretty good, but have had a bad headache all day. aspirin does nothing. No restless legs though, and that's a great relief. I'm hoping that it won't take too many days before I'm completely off these ridiculous pills. I like my level of consciousness much better when I'm normal. I enjoy the smells, the sounds and just am more aware in so many ways. Did an hour long meditation this morning, and that helped the headache alot for awhile...
Avatar_n_tn Was put on tramadol ten years ago for extreme pain due to sciatica, arthritis, carpel tunnel syndrome and an allergy to all aspirin and nsaids. Since then have discovered buying them online and the amount has gone up, ok, i will say to how much, about 1400mgs a day. If i go more than about 48hrs without them the cramps start, these are excruciating, and then the rest kicks in, sweats, hot and cold, the runs, panic, etc.
Avatar_m_tn However my concern is that I have been weaning off the Xanax slowly and steady for about 55 days, and the tramadol and Vicodin I practically didn't use them since 19 days ago but I'm having since the first week and have become more intense now muscle cramps, at first they were on some points arount my scapula bones in my back, there were formed some "knots" painful and constant, very painful to the touch and frequent migraines.
Avatar_f_tn They shot me up with morphine, gave me nitroglycerin and baby aspirin (thought it was a heart attack) and ran tests, including an ultrasound. I confessed all to the wonderful young MD who took care of me. He said my liver enzymes were slightly raised, but the trams had nothing to do with it~~~it turns out I almost assuredly have stones in my liver. They gave me oxycodone to take home and I have an appt. w/ a gastric specialists next Mon., to whom I will have to tell of my addiction, too.
348629_tn?1212329273 and for this it works great for me. I have NO W/D from the norco if I take the tramadol, but the tramadol keeps me awake and my mind races at night when I take it. So for many doctors when tramadol was first being used in the US it WAS being advertised by J&J to be non-addictive.. but not because J&J was being untruthful, but because the original pharmaceutical company GrĂ¼nenthal GmbH out of Germany published untruthful facts about it.
Business_man2 to take me off ibuprofen and other NSAIDs. Now I'm taking acetaminophen and it's bothering my stomach like Meloxicam did (but ibuprofen and naproxen do not). Other than aspirin, what OTC pain killer can I try if I can't take NSAIDs or "stomach" acetaminophen ? Thank You !
544292_tn?1268886268 Over the years of recovery and reading about others, seeing others recover the main thing I have learned is that everyone's life is better without being a slave to tramadol. You might be stuck and scared right now, but you can make the decision to get yourself off the hamster wheel of tramadol dependency and even addiction. You don't have to live that way. There's lots of people here to help.
