Avatar f tn s normal for me as I am from Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico, and Colorado. I lived right in Tornado Valley. So it's normal for me.
Avatar n tn On May 30, 2008 my 6 year old and my 1 year old granddaughters were victims of a tornado along with their parents. My daughter works for a 24hour childcare facility and they were with her when it happened. The facility was behind the complex where my daughter lived along with the kids father. On that specific day there were watches and warning so we knew it was going to storm.
Avatar f tn He said there was a tornado that touched ground and he flipped the living room couch over and had us kids and my mom lay under it while he layed on top of it to try and hold it down in case the windows blew out. It made me think about how life changes when you have kids. I remember being a kid and scared in general but now that I'm a mom I'm scared for my kids.
230262 tn?1316645934 The first thing i did was make a wild dash for the coffee maker and get a pot of coffee going, i was afraid the power would go back off before i could get a pot brewed and I am one cranky witch without my morning coffee LOL !!! Man it ***** when youre stuck in a dark, hot house with NO fans, no TV, no puter, no radio, nothing! Last night we had a huge bow echo severe line of storms come from michigan. At first it was cool..earlier before they started....
230262 tn?1316645934 Her family was full of faith and went to church regularly (that is why they went to bed early that night- so they could get up for church the next morning- when the tornado hit around 11:30 pm. It leveled their home completely- all that is left is the concrete foundation. They were all upstairs in the 2nd floor bedrooms. ) It is such a tragedy. I pray she will be able to recover and live a fruitful life. But for right now, she sure could use some extra prayers.
230262 tn?1316645934 Long story short, the boys spent some supervised time with him for the day and when i went to pick them up, we had a TORNADO WARNING- not just for our county but our litle town specifically was mentioned that we were in the path of this tornado!!! I couldnt believe it. So i got stuck down in teh basement with the man i HATE, waiting for a stupid tornado to come, for god sakes!! thankfully the tornado did not touch down (at least not here, not sure if it did elsewhere but I dont think it did).
Avatar f tn last night I had a dream about an amusement park and twisters kept coming through as I was running with my kids to safety. I almost lost my youngest twice but wouldn't let go. Another was a huge tornado that we barely escaped from and I used my body to shield the kids even though I was big n preg and got all cut up.
Avatar m tn Well there's always a possibility for tornadoes. But they aren't constant. maybe you could educate yourself in tornado safety so you know exactly what to do in the event of a severe storm. You may feel more calm if you're well prepared for any such weather emergency. But more than likely you won't even have to worry. My old roommate lives in kansas and has lived there for close to 3 years now and I haven't once heard her mention anything about tornadoes.
Avatar f tn That is great news. I can relate to you. I have took pain meds for my back for 3 years. My doctor cut me off and now I buy them. I am scared this is going way to far and I am going to end up a addict like my brother. I have tried to quit but every time I get sick then I take one. and it goes on from there. I have 3 kids and they are my world.
Avatar n tn For those with two kids, how do you have your carseats arranged? One in the middle, one on the end? Or both on each ends? I have a two year old, and due in dec. Thanks!
7721203 tn?1468443229 , I've been up since 9 a.m., just fell asleep at 7 a.m. I don't feel good at all, mainly b/c of exhaustion, I'm 14w5d, and quite frankly I'm starving.. wonderful day so far!!!!!!! (sarcasm). -- we are facing flooding rains, large-sized hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes.. whattttt?!!!! I'm not kidding at all when I say the thought of a tornado used to have me in a corner, nauseous, having panic attacks.. it was my #1 fear.
7808984 tn?1406680965 A part of me wants 2 confront him because in the big picture I gotta work with this guy whom is all zipped up on meth (safety safety safety) and another part of me wants 2 help because I know this guy is pry stuck in a tornado like many of us were at one time and just needed a friend.
4447476 tn?1399396565 So last night after the kids were in bed, the hubby n I we're watching a movie. All the sudden our phones started alerting us and the tornado sirens started going off! After a couple minutes when the noise died down, we heard a strange noise. So, him n I both jumped up n ran outside (cuz, ya know, that's what everybody does when a tornado might be coming lol jk). In the middle of our yard we seen a tiny white spot! As we got closer, we both yelled "kitty!" Lol..
Avatar f tn I agree with Sandman that many kids have difficulty expressing anger, frustration, sadness. For some, we have to really help them along to find appropriate ways to handle these emotions. The book he references is excellent and I know that the library has many others written for kids using language and illustrations that kids really 'get'. That helps them use their words better which is the ultimate goal. My son didn't pinch but he'd bang his head.
Avatar m tn Waiting for your kind advise
Avatar f tn I feel badly for the people going through this storm, though....having not grown up in a tornado prone area, tornadoes scare me. I lived in FL for 39 years, so hurricanes are a walk in the park to me...at least you know they are coming DAYS and DAYS in advance. Tornadoes are deadlier, it seems. When Hurricanes are deadly, it's usually because people didn't take the warning(s) to evacuate - but they could have and had time and opportunity.
Avatar f tn I think it is your preference. I will have my daughter in a sleeper for the first month at least. I want her right next to me. The crib is safe, but I will be more comfortable with the sleeper.

Avatar f tn My advice to you is, Just be careful, like Jason said, you have to keep your safety in mind along with the safety for others.
Avatar f tn ( oh my goodness! We just had a tornado pass thru. We had a warning and it was just me and my lil brother. And my mom was driving thru it! My stomach finally starting to not be as tight and not shaking as much . Omg we were blessed.!
Avatar m tn I have neuropathy issues that I sustained in a tornado; however, I was experiencing this condition a few years before the injury. I could shed a few pounds but otherwise I'm reasonably healthy.
Avatar f tn She is packing up and leaving with her kids...She is going to stay at a motel, and will not have a computer...So please everyone pray for her and her safety..She will call me and let me know she is ok, and i will post again....
669941 tn?1252480058 Hello and welcome....I don't believe "Right Now" is a good idea, either. It sounds as if you already have your hands full and with another baby coming; adding a puppy (Of any kind) to the mix is a mistake, IMO. Puppies require alot of attention and direction. It wouldn't be fair to him/her or to you trying to attend to everyone and train a puppy. One rescue, that I'm familiar with, will NOT adopt to families with children under 10. There's a reason for this.
Avatar f tn t hear any gunshots but we had a tornado siren going off at the time of the shot. I was getting my kids ready to go to the store and as I was driving down my street, I heard sirens and saw a paramedic turn in front of the apartment building (which sits on the corner, I'm 2 lots down from the apartment building---LOTS, not blocks). Anyway, I found a piece of antique furniture and put it in my van and turned around to go back home before the store, as weird as that sounds...
