There are many success stories of people losing weight on topamax. If you read the side effects, weight loss is one of them. It helps suppress the desire to eat even smoking which I have quit too. I have not experienced any weight loss. I do have weight fluctuations up and down about 8 pounds but I also have a thyroid problem and had a hysterectomy recently. I am tired of feeling asthmatic and having this annoying sinus drip. I am tired of the nagging cough and shortness of breath that I believe this drug is causing. After two weeks of being on Flovent and Albuterol without relief, I am going back to my doctor and tapering off of this drug to see if I can get better.

The reason you were prescribed the medications was mood swings and migraines. Do not take the side effect of topiramate that is weight loss to be the aim in using the medication.
Are your symptoms of migraine and mood swings better after taking the medications?
Carry on regular exercises to help you lose weight and plan your diet schedule accordingly.
Consult your neurologist before you stop taking any medication or even change its dose.

Hi...this is not really all that new, and it is the generic of TOPAMAX...this can take 2 weeks to adjust to....so u may feel extremely tired and off balance with this....
I did lose weight, and not sure how it works, but I gained it all back and I am still on the med....so it is not a weight loss miracle.
I have noticed a change in taste as well as smells...so I know that did affect what I eat....
Good luck and again be advised most do need an adjustment period to this med.
I would like to know if an increase in my Bystolic and lisinopril will cause and increase in weight loss. My Cardiologist increased my byistolic too 10mg., and my lisinopril to 40mg. on the 1st of Febuary 2010, and I have lost a total of 11 pounds since being on them, my weight stayed steady prevous to that time.
It can have some side effects like loss of appetite and a bit of foggy headedness especially in the beginning but I used to get up to 4 migraines a week and now I might get one every 6 months

I'm a 30 yr old female. My height is 5'2" and I weigh 71 kgs. I have been overweight since I was 14 yrs after I started to get periods but I've had phases of weight loss on and off esp during the time I was in final yr of dental school and during my internship. I've gained seven kgs during the last six yrs although I've been exercising regularly and taking s balanced diet.
I had my first migraine when I was 12 and they became chronic and literally everyday after two car accidents. (Rear end and head on). I am soon going to b getting my nerves on my c3-6 burned to help with the headaches and neck pain. I'm only 23 yrs old. I had to quit my career (cosmetologist) I loved it and right before my migrianes randomly became daily I had an offer to become a redken color artist and do hair in big time hair shows up on stage with many famous hairstylist.
