I am currently on Keppra and Topiramate and have just been told my latest tests are showing major kidney damage from the topiramate. I have been on these two meds since 2002. I have to admit, reading all this is very scary. NO Other Meds have worked to control my seizures ! PERIOD!! Plus I have severe Migraines and Short term memory is almost gone in a matter of seconds. What is a girl to do?

You can call the pharmacist who filled your prescription. Often they are better able to answer these types of questions than your doctor because they have access to all the databases available that contain information about drug interactions and so on. They are also much easier to get a hold of than most doctors.
I'm day 5 into taking Topiramate 25mg at night for migraine prevention. My migraine is a daily pressure headache at the base of my skull. I have Chiari malformation type 1 but neurosurgeon says I don't need surgery, thankfully. He and my neurologist advised i try Topiramate as Amitriptyline didn't suit me (made me suicidal) and my asthma prevents them trying me on beta blockers.

They were all negative. If positive for the Meniers they give you water pills.
He has recently given me numerous trial medication to see if my current state and headaches would improve including apo-acetazolamide (250 mg) and ratio-topiramate (25mg). With acetazolamide not working, and topiramate worsening my state. I quit the Topiramate and had severe withdrawal symptoms that put me in the E.R. Blood work, urinalysis, chest xray, and head CT w/out contrast all checked out fine.

hi my name is danielle, i am a 24 year old mother too 2 children and in need ov help, last year i woz taken to hostpital cos i woz suffering severe pain in my head and woz showing sighns ov stroke after a CT and 2 MRI they said my head woz slightly too small for my brain (plz tell me the medical name) as a result i suffer from hemeplegic migraines once a month and also have exrusiating daily migraine, I cannot tolerate sound and light, i saw a neurosugon who adviced me to take 50mg ov topiramate
She thinks my glasses might be too strong and wants to change them. Could I have eye symptoms so long after my treatment? I am so confused and depressed, i'm not sure what to do next. My eyes don't look bulgy but my graves disease was very hard to diagnose as I showed little signs of it. Even though my t4 was above 80. Any advice would be greatly received.
The diagnosis of hemiplegic migraines is made based on symptoms and by exclusion of above mentioned causes. Treatment is through vitamin and electrolyte supplementation, topiramate, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication. Please discuss all this with your doctor. Take care!

Topamax (Topiramate) is not a weight loss medication; I'm surprised you'd find a doctor to prescribe it for that. I take it daily, for peripheral neuropathy. I've been on it for about 2 yrs and it's done nothing to help with weight loss. Of course, the dosage has a lot to do with it... what dosage are you on?
