topamax

1104710 tn?1258034139 I take it as an anticonvulsant drug. The neurologist said that his niece lost 15 pounds on it. I have no idea how long she was on it. My comments. I do 2 and 1/2 hours minimum of timed exercises a day, every day, 7 days a week. Most were given as physical therapy exercises by my HMO. Exercising tones. It does not promote weight loss. I have been exercising at this level for over two years. Before that time, I was weightlifting every day. I have been on Phentermine HDL 37.
Avatar n tn He has recently given me numerous trial medication to see if my current state and headaches would improve including apo-acetazolamide (250 mg) and ratio-topiramate (25mg). With acetazolamide not working, and topiramate worsening my state. After being on topiramate for 3 days, I had a general feeling of confusion, disorientation, trouble with my memory, and trouble concentrating.
Avatar f tn You can call the pharmacist who filled your prescription. Often they are better able to answer these types of questions than your doctor because they have access to all the databases available that contain information about drug interactions and so on. They are also much easier to get a hold of than most doctors.
Avatar n tn d already stopped smoking long before I started taking topiramate... did you know it might help you stop?
Avatar f tn mtbabe ~ If you are having suicidal thoughts while on Topiramate you should call your Doctor today and inform her/him of your thoughts. Do not take yourself off the drug without doctor's instructions. Do not wait to see if the side effects subside. There are several reasons why you may be having side-effects of this nature. The solution may be very simple. CALL YOUR DOCTOR TODAY.
Avatar n tn How does Rolaids or tums help with the tingling sensations caused by taking topiramate?
1415174 tn?1453243103 Has anyone tried extended release Topamax or Topiramate? It is called Trokedi XR. I am going to try it because my memory is so bad on Topamax. My neurologist said it might be better with Trokedi XR but it is very expensive. So if you can tell me before I buy it I would appreciate any feedback.
Avatar m tn Topiramate is toxic to your retinas which causes you seeing red. See a opthamologist ASAP that is familiar with this drug. You need to call your Neurologist asap. Neurologists usually don't care unless you have a serious condition. Get off that drug!!!! Your vision will get worse!!!
Avatar m tn Hi and so very sorry you are having all this trouble. I have a migraine variant that in my 20's just gave me vomiting and no headache. It only came on at night. They gave me Klonopin and I haven' t had that since. But I don't recommend Klonopin for the vertigo. So, then I started getting the migraine headaches and aura in my 30's and took Imitrex and that worked some for the migraine headaches. Only this last year and a half I started getting double vision then severe vertigo.
Avatar f tn Ive taken this for about a year now and its been SUCH a lifesaver. It prevents migraines.
Avatar f tn She is just really stressed because she cant get any answers. She has been on Topamax (Topiramate) for seizures for almost 2 years with no side effects.
Avatar f tn I have the exact same symptoms...were you able to find out why this happens...recently it went from double to triple and much more intense I've had about 5 episodes over 18 months. I don't know what it is and I have an appointment for a neurologist, but not until 10-16-09. I worry about it. It only happens when I get up during the night. Anything you have learned regarding these "unusual" symptons is greatly appreciated. Thank You.
1756321 tn?1547095325 Medical websites are full of malarky!! I, initially, gained 30 lbs in about 3 months when my thyroid began to fail, in spite of a physically demanding job, extra daily exercise and very healthy low calorie diet. I held at that - give or take a few lbs for several years. Last year, my neurologist put me on gabapentin for my peripheral neuropathy pain and within a week I gained another 10 lbs!!
Avatar m tn However, I was diagnosed with silent migraine or migraine equivalent by my neuro. I was given Topiramate and Maxalt. The Maxalt did absolutely nothing and the Topiramate put me through two weeks of constant dizziness and vertigo not to mention a couple of panic attacks. I quit the Topiramate and had severe withdrawal symptoms that put me in the E.R. Blood work, urinalysis, chest xray, and head CT w/out contrast all checked out fine.
Avatar m tn The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
Avatar n tn You can look up medications at www.rxlist.
Avatar m tn I had a lumbar puncture 2 months ago & am still miserable. The day that I had it done I had such severe vommitting and vertigo that I had to be rushed to ER. They gave me a couple IVs and anti vertigo & nausea meds. I was in bed for 6 days before feeling better. I never got back to "normal" but good enough to work and function, but now the past few weeks I have had so much pressure in my head, neck, and shoulders that all I can do is lay on the couch.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your advice! I will try to get them to move up my appt as soon as possible. They couldn't get me in until next month, but I will call them back and explain to them about the problems I am having. Maybe they can get me in sooner. Thank you so much!
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply but I do apologise I should of stated in my comment that it is my daughter that has these seizures. My daughter has been diagnosed with IP and she is dependent upon others for full time care and is restricted to being in a wheel chair full time. Upon the visit to the consultant she had given me these two medications to research.
Avatar n tn My 15 year old daughter was started on topiramate for migraines, 25mg at bedtime. She has only taken 2 doses and is already complaining of feeling like she is in a "fog", is having trouble recalling names and certain words, and feels like her brain is moving very slowly. Her pupils are also dilated. Her doctor said that these are "normal" side effects and "should" go away in a few weeks.
Avatar f tn my advice to you is to stop all kind of medications because you dont need them. by the occasion, do you remember the starting dose of topamax you took?
Avatar f tn I had my first migraine when I was 12 and they became chronic and literally everyday after two car accidents. (Rear end and head on). I am soon going to b getting my nerves on my c3-6 burned to help with the headaches and neck pain. I'm only 23 yrs old. I had to quit my career (cosmetologist) I loved it and right before my migrianes randomly became daily I had an offer to become a redken color artist and do hair in big time hair shows up on stage with many famous hairstylist.
Avatar m tn This is the only thing that has worked thus far--I still get Migraines about 1-3 times a week. Mine are short lived--1 to 2 hrs usually. With the Topamax, they seem to be dulled also. Before preventatives I was having 1-2 per DAY. Some were so bad I prayed I would just pass out so the pain would go away. I'll do almost anything NOT to go back to that. So my question is....is it normal for side effects to appear after a few days with Topamax?
