I take 100mg Topamax (actually I take the generic Topiramate) once per day. I've been on and off of this for a few years. But started taking the generic last year due to the insurance company making me switch. Anyway, when I switched to the generic, I have since started having a lot of pressure behind my left eye and into my cheek. Also, sometimes behind my right eye, but that's rarely. It's daily behind my left eye. This has been going on for a few months.

I want to start with the drug that I have the best chance of maintaining my intellect, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and personalty.

I have dizzyness, pain behide my right eye, face cheeks hurt. swallowen glands in my neck, sometimes my teeth hurt, headaches, so am taking allergie meds and topiramate for the headaches, the dizzy thing I am so tired of haveing , i have it everyday.
Other symptoms I have are - my left pupil is slightly larger than my right, my left eye twitches when reading, extreme pain when looking upwards which increases my headache, double vision when reading, blurred vision, itchy and irritated eyes.
I have had an eye test and the optician said I had slight astigmatism. She thinks my glasses might be too strong and wants to change them. Could I have eye symptoms so long after my treatment?

Hi. My son is 15 yo and has recently been prescribed Topiramate 50mg Daily preventive use for Classic Migraine HA and "added bonus to decrease mood swings." Amongst many other concerns I have, I am concerned with remarks of weight loss. He is already very thin with a very good appetite. How much weight loss can I expect and does anyone have experience with the mood swings issue?
She has also recommended I have my thyroid function tested and has written to my doctor recommending a referral to an eye specialist to thoroughly check my eye muscles are working correctly (due to my graves history). In the meantime I am going to start taking the topiramate, unfortunately new glasses are costly and I cannot afford them right now, especially because I am unsure this is the problem. I am probably going to wait until my appointment with the eye specialist.
I am currently on Keppra and Topiramate and have just been told my latest tests are showing major kidney damage from the topiramate. I have been on these two meds since 2002. I have to admit, reading all this is very scary. NO Other Meds have worked to control my seizures ! PERIOD!! Plus I have severe Migraines and Short term memory is almost gone in a matter of seconds. What is a girl to do?

You can call the pharmacist who filled your prescription. Often they are better able to answer these types of questions than your doctor because they have access to all the databases available that contain information about drug interactions and so on. They are also much easier to get a hold of than most doctors.
I'm day 5 into taking Topiramate 25mg at night for migraine prevention. My migraine is a daily pressure headache at the base of my skull. I have Chiari malformation type 1 but neurosurgeon says I don't need surgery, thankfully. He and my neurologist advised i try Topiramate as Amitriptyline didn't suit me (made me suicidal) and my asthma prevents them trying me on beta blockers.
it used two be periodic pain usually monthly , then became shorter and shorter and now its constant dull pain in my left eye all time and when it become worse it goes behind my head and goes to my neck and last about 24 for hours and i have to take several pain killers to stop it then it gets better for about 48 hours then starts again around my left eye with same dull pain and take same course to full pain

Since coming back home, I started to have migraine like headaches along with other post mTBI symptoms (dizziness, cognative problems, etc).
Anyway, my neurologist is treating me currently with 25mg Nortriptyline and 25mg Topamax at night. They have helped (more so the Topamax). The first week and a half I noticed absolutely no side effects of the Topamax. Today I have some slight hand trembling and also felt like my speech wasn't right. (Like I couldn't think of the right word).
Topamax (Topiramate) is not a weight loss medication; I'm surprised you'd find a doctor to prescribe it for that. I take it daily, for peripheral neuropathy. I've been on it for about 2 yrs and it's done nothing to help with weight loss. Of course, the dosage has a lot to do with it... what dosage are you on?
I started suffering from cluster headaches after coming off brith control so I got prescribed topiramate and at the beginning, it was fine. But around the second week when I started taking 50 mg, I got a yeast infection, which was treated. Now I have the worst case of vaginal dryness which makes sex painful and causes friction and sometimes bleeding. I don’t have the normal amount of lubrication I have down there, in fact I am completely dry which is very abnormal for me.
It is important also to have your eyes and sinuses checked just to rule out any underlying problems. A migraine is usually given as a diagnoss if other problems have been ruled out.
Do not stop or taper the Topamax until your physician has advised you to do so. Before doing anything ,inform your physician. Migraines may transform into chronic daily headaches due to prolonged analgesic use or other factors.Have you been taking any analgesics for greater than 3 months ?
I was going to a neurologist that specialized in migraines and she gave me Topiramate which totally took away the vertigo and double vision. I get a very slight bit but not the kind that knocks you over now and only a few seconds. I was also told to go to an ENT to rule out Meniers disease and they checked my hearing and looked in my ear and did a CT to rule out a tumor behind the ear called acoustic neuroma. They were all negative. If positive for the Meniers they give you water pills.
He has recently given me numerous trial medication to see if my current state and headaches would improve including apo-acetazolamide (250 mg) and ratio-topiramate (25mg). With acetazolamide not working, and topiramate worsening my state. After being on topiramate for 3 days, I had a general feeling of confusion, disorientation, trouble with my memory, and trouble concentrating.
