I take 100mg Topamax (actually I take the generic Topiramate) once per day. I've been on and off of this for a few years. But started taking the generic last year due to the insurance company making me switch. Anyway, when I switched to the generic, I have since started having a lot of pressure behind my left eye and into my cheek. Also, sometimes behind my right eye, but that's rarely. It's daily behind my left eye. This has been going on for a few months.

However, I was diagnosed with silent migraine or migraine equivalent by my neuro. I was given Topiramate and Maxalt. The Maxalt did absolutely nothing and the Topiramate put me through two weeks of constant dizziness and vertigo not to mention a couple of panic attacks. I quit the Topiramate and had severe withdrawal symptoms that put me in the E.R. Blood work, urinalysis, chest xray, and head CT w/out contrast all checked out fine.

However, it has not been proven that these were caused by this medicine. Rarely, blurring of vision and eye pain have been reported. Rarely and mostly in children, reduced sweating has occurred, mainly during exercise or in warm conditions. If someone taking Topamax becomes flushed or overheated, they should relax in a cool place and drink plenty of water. Very rarely, drug withdrawal convulsions (fits) have been reported.

with migraines, flashes of light at the periphery of the visual field can occur, but floaters are rarely neurologic symptoms (eye not from brain problems). However, it is important to know that topiramate can cause glaucoma. Therefore, evaluation by an opthalmologist (eye doctor) to exclude this as a cause for your symptoms, and to investigate other causes for your vision symptoms, is recommended. Follow-up with your neurologist is also recommended.

I was sitting on the edge of my bed and then suddenly my vision went all red, like I was wearing red sunglasses, and I fainted and fell onto the for and was out for maybe a minute. when I came to again my vision seemed fine but I was disoriented. I did not have a cluster during this last night but this morning when I woke up I did. I'm used to the clusters and the feet tingling but have never experienced the red vision.

I am a 36 year young female and was told I have a right parietal meningeoma of 4mm. It is supposed to be in my frontal lobe. About a week later an EEG was done and indicated sharp discharges in both hemispheres of my brain. htm Yes, that is the generic name of Topamax, but I would not take it without a good reason. It can cause strange psychological changes and serious eye problems.

I want to start with the drug that I have the best chance of maintaining my intellect, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and personalty.

I was diagnosed with cluster headaches when I was 15 and after being on every kind of muscle relaxer under the sun with them not working I gave up and learned to deal with the headaches. swallowen glands in my neck, sometimes my teeth hurt, headaches, so am taking allergie meds and topiramate for the headaches, the dizzy thing I am so tired of haveing , i have it everyday.

I have had an eye test and the optician said I had slight astigmatism. She thinks my glasses might be too strong and wants to change them. Could I have eye symptoms so long after my treatment? I am so confused and depressed, i'm not sure what to do next. My eyes don't look bulgy but my graves disease was very hard to diagnose as I showed little signs of it. Even though my t4 was above 80. that I have a chiari malformation. I am 52 and have been suffering with terrible high pitched tinnitus that is non stop. And I mean 24 hrs. a day 7 days a week. I also have sleep apnea. I am tired all day because I cant sleep right at night I choke alot. I had a sleep monitor and it confirmed a severe sleep apnea, I only get about 3-4 hrs. of sleep at night. ok ok , I started topiramate for 2 moths now, the first month the cravings was less, and after a month the doc, change the dosage, now I'm on 50 twice a day, I don't think its working. I haven't lost any weight, does this meds take time?? Should I been seeing result ? am I wasting my time? I really haven't been experiencing the side effects, little bit at first, but nothing to cry about. If anybody have any advice please any is helpful!

How does Rolaids or tums help with the tingling sensations caused by taking topiramate?

Hi. My son is 15 yo and has recently been prescribed Topiramate 50mg Daily preventive use for Classic Migraine HA and "added bonus to decrease mood swings." Amongst many other concerns I have, I am concerned with remarks of weight loss. He is already very thin with a very good appetite. How much weight loss can I expect and does anyone have experience with the mood swings issue?

25 in the right eye and -4.5 in the left!!!! She feels they are too strong. As you know I believed my px was a lot lower than this and my contact lenses are actually -3.75 and - 4.25 (completely different to my glasses). I asked my normal opticians and they have said my px is -3.75 and -4.25 so either my glasses have been made wrong or my contact lenses are wrong. She said I have to go back in a week with my old glasses, contacts and px details from my original opticians.

t help you if your taking medication for your seizures due to me having a relative that has them. It is not safe do to take both birth control and Topiramate due to them mixing up. Topiramate would make the birth control less useful , so it'll be just a regular pill your taking, it won't protect you due to the Topiramate. Hopefully this helps.

I also had a terrible headache that was like my migraines behind the right eye, pain coming up from my neck behind the ear and to my eye, sore neck. They gave me toradol for the headache which helped minimal, and when I got home I took Lortab which helped more. Now my right eyelid is swollen.

The mean plasma elimination half-life is 21 hours and it is excreted in 4-5 days. It may cause eye problems like sudden decrease in vision with or without eye pain and redness, secondary angle closure glaucoma etc. this could also cause decreased sweating and increased body temperature. I just started topiramate and took my first one two nights ago and that same night was up all night hawking up mucus. Second night I felt stuffy and horrible sore throat and still a ton of mucus. I'm allergic to a lot of perscription meds for cold and stuff so it's hard to find one that will actually work when me when I do. But I can't get into my doctors for a couple more days anyways. It seems to b getting worse each day. It's also raining here.

I started suffering from cluster headaches after coming off brith control so I got prescribed topiramate and at the beginning, it was fine. But around the second week when I started taking 50 mg, I got a yeast infection, which was treated. Now I have the worst case of vaginal dryness which makes sex painful and causes friction and sometimes bleeding. I don’t have the normal amount of lubrication I have down there, in fact I am completely dry which is very abnormal for me.

I was going to a neurologist that specialized in migraines and she gave me Topiramate which totally took away the vertigo and double vision. I get a very slight bit but not the kind that knocks you over now and only a few seconds. I was also told to go to an ENT to rule out Meniers disease and they checked my hearing and looked in my ear and did a CT to rule out a tumor behind the ear called acoustic neuroma. They were all negative. If positive for the Meniers they give you water pills.
