I am currently on Keppra and Topiramate and have just been told my latest tests are showing major kidney damage from the topiramate. I have been on these two meds since 2002. I have to admit, reading all this is very scary. NO Other Meds have worked to control my seizures ! PERIOD!! Plus I have severe Migraines and Short term memory is almost gone in a matter of seconds. What is a girl to do?

However, I was diagnosed with silent migraine or migraine equivalent by my neuro. I was given Topiramate and Maxalt. The Maxalt did absolutely nothing and the Topiramate put me through two weeks of constant dizziness and vertigo not to mention a couple of panic attacks. I quit the Topiramate and had severe withdrawal symptoms that put me in the E.R. Blood work, urinalysis, chest xray, and head CT w/out contrast all checked out fine.
How does Rolaids or tums help with the tingling sensations caused by taking topiramate?
t help you if your taking medication for your seizures due to me having a relative that has them. It is not safe do to take both birth control and Topiramate due to them mixing up. Topiramate would make the birth control less useful , so it'll be just a regular pill your taking, it won't protect you due to the Topiramate.

I started taking Topamax 1 1/2 years ago for my headaches and to my surprise it help my bulimia significally. I take 50mg in the morning and 50mg at night and has really made a huge difference for ME. Is this normal?? Why is it helping me? I have not said a word to my doctor about it helping the bulimia as she and everyone else is unaware of my problem with bulimia.

I am a 36 year young female and was told I have a right parietal meningeoma of 4mm. It is supposed to be in my frontal lobe. About a week later an EEG was done and indicated sharp discharges in both hemispheres of my brain. I have been having horrible headaches since at least 10/20 of this year that get to the point of nausea. They are sharp and never completely go away. Just vary in intensity to more bareable at times than others.

However, my main fear is my behaviour problems, which I wish not to blame on an actual problem if the truth is I am just being an outrageously horrible person and needing to sort myself out, but I wonder if the bulimia can cause such terrible moods and outburts? They are so horrific sometimes I convince myself I have bipolar disorder although I know self diagnosis is dangerous and often inaccurate.
I find myself occasionally binging and purging at what point does that classify as bulimia? I only do it once or twice a month is there any health riaks?
I have been bulimic for 1.5 years, purging 3-4 times per week. Recently I learned that bulimia can trigger SVT's. I went to the ER twice in 2 months. Once it stopped on it's own and the second needed meds. I was referred to a cardiologist who wants to do an ablation (I haven't told her I'm bulimic). My question is will the SVT go away if I stop purging, if so how long would it take? Also, I had an SVT about 15 yrs ago (not bulimic).

I was sitting on the edge of my bed and then suddenly my vision went all red, like I was wearing red sunglasses, and I fainted and fell onto the for and was out for maybe a minute. when I came to again my vision seemed fine but I was disoriented. I did not have a cluster during this last night but this morning when I woke up I did. I'm used to the clusters and the feet tingling but have never experienced the red vision.
I was going to a neurologist that specialized in migraines and she gave me Topiramate which totally took away the vertigo and double vision. I get a very slight bit but not the kind that knocks you over now and only a few seconds. I was also told to go to an ENT to rule out Meniers disease and they checked my hearing and looked in my ear and did a CT to rule out a tumor behind the ear called acoustic neuroma. They were all negative. If positive for the Meniers they give you water pills.
Except for my teenage and college years, when I struggled on and off with bulimia for roughly 10 years. I stopped completely about 5 years ago, and have never had another episode.
Last year, I suddenly started experiencing heart palpitations. I went through the whole workup - Holter monitor, stress test, echo, cardiac MRI, and then another 2-week event monitor. The doc said I'm having PVC's and a few runs of NSVT, but otherwise my heart looks structurally fine.
He has recently given me numerous trial medication to see if my current state and headaches would improve including apo-acetazolamide (250 mg) and ratio-topiramate (25mg). With acetazolamide not working, and topiramate worsening my state. After being on topiramate for 3 days, I had a general feeling of confusion, disorientation, trouble with my memory, and trouble concentrating.

If you are sure the blood comes from your nose and not from further down -- there is nothing to prevent the stomach acid you're throwing up from also affecting the nose, via the throat.
Can you not get help to address the bulimia? It's dangerous for you in so many ways.
I am recovering from bulimia, and have been for about three months now. I was bulimic for 7 years (I started at age 16), and only ceased for two healthy pregnancies. I didn't realize all the harm I was causing to my body. I really don't know much about it, but I guess I am curious if my body will ever get back to normal. How long, if ever, will it take for your metabolism to return to normal? Is it possible to get cancer from throat damage?
I am not sure if anyone can help me out with this but I have a friend that is on Topamax (Topiramate) for seizures and she just found out she is 7 weeks pregnant. She had been pregnant before but had a miscarriage. She is very scared because she can’t find any information on this medication to tell her if or if not this medication will hurt the baby. She has seen the OB/GYN and they told her they are not sure and she needs to speak with her Neurologists.
