Common Questions and Answers about Topamax with adderall

topamax

Avatar f tn i was wondering if anyone here diagnosed with adult adhd could share with me a few things please in regards to focusing and staying focused whether it's reading or driving television any activity does medication help you stay focused? and does the ability to not be able to focus extend to everything regardless the level of interest you hold in it?
Avatar f tn I say this because Basically phentermine is a stimulant (works like adderall), but works differently then adderall. I am not sure you should be taking it with adderall. "Phentermine use is containdicated in those who are: Taking amphetamine (i.e. Adderall, Dexedrine, Vyvanse), in the last 14 days" This quote is from - http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn When I take my adderall it makes me very angry, mean and unsociable. Topamax is also helping with that too! And the weight loss thing.. I'm not sure if I understand it. Is it supposed to curb your appetite to where you actually eat less?
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am no Doctor, but I am sure you are not to take Adderall with Topamax. They are a very dangerous combination. I on the other hand have had better results with the Adderall regular tablets. The Dexidrene made me crash like a lead balloon and it actually made me want to take more. The Adderall just kind of wears off and that is it,no crash. But hey, everyone is different and meds react different for different people. I am pretty sure though, that Adderall and Topamax is a No-No.
Avatar f tn Phenteramine does make you anxious,,, more so than the adderall or Concerta. I also take a low dose of Topamax to help with the weightloss. remember, my Concerta is controlled release so that may make a difference in how it reacts with the Phenterimine.
Avatar f tn 5mg once a day and topamax 23 mg in half doeses twice dailey. I also take adderall 20mg twice Dailey. I asked him if theses two meds who interact with one another and his response was no . I guess my question is how do I safely spread them out during the day. It seems I can't get it right because when I take either or I get very anxious . I already take a anti anxiety med clonazepam for accational panic attacks. How do I safely take these?

Avatar f tn After years of continued difficulty with bouts of depression, anger/irritability, sleep, I saw a new doctor in 2015 who prescribed Abilify 5mg along with Adderall. He mentioned that he thought I continued to have issues because of the Prozac but did not officially give me a diagnosis. I immediately saw the benefits. However, at the end of 2016 I went through a severe bout of depression and discontinued the Abilify.
Avatar m tn m just wondering how long you had or have been on Adderall. A lot of your symptoms are consistent with taking Adderall, especially on 80mg. I took Adderall and after two weeks I was paranoid, thought people were talking about me, police following me, depressed and anxious to the max!! After I stopped it the symptoms slowing got better. Come to find out all those thoughts were crazy and not true. I thank God I stopped that med.
193953 tn?1272075026 t know if anyone knows this, but mixed with Adderall becomes a seizure-filled day! Lots of fun!
Avatar n tn This is not uncommon, I have this problem as well. The question is can you live with the extra anxiety if the adderall is really helping you? The problem with taking an upper (adderall) and a downer (ativan) together is that they will counter act against each other and neither one will be as effective in your system. You said that you were just diagnosed? Is this your first add medication? You may want to consider trying a different one if the adderall continues to give you problems.
Avatar n tn Topamax is used for a lot of things it isn't necessarily labeled for. It's also used for treatment of nerve-related pain. Docs love to give it to patients with spine pain because it's not a narcotic. I know topamax has helped people with pain, but I wasn't one of them. I got every side effect on the fine-print enclosure, including a wooden tongue and numb, nearly paralyzed extremeties. Hadn't even titrated up to a "therapeutic" dose yet.
Avatar m tn So, all those years as a guinea pig and then I started to sleep constantly and then they treated depression to no avail and then they said it was ADHD and put me on Adderall and the Lamictal and the Topamax after trying all kinds of stuff. Well the adderall worked right away for energy because that is what I complained of was the chronic fatigue constantly from the fibromyalgia! So that was a Godsend. Then I got better with the Topamax.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 10/325 Norco 4x per day as well as Adderall, Celexa, Lisinopril, and Topamax. Today, I went to the doctor to have my prescriptions refilled, and I was administered a urine drug screen. I didn't think anything of it until the doctor came back in and told me that my results were COMPLETELY negative for all medications, and that I was going to be discharged. I am FURIOUS!!!
1100837 tn?1267668675 Dear Dusty, UPDATE: When I went to the Psych and he listened to the description of my symptoms, he said I sounded like someone with pronounced ADD. Instead of the provigil, he prescribed adderall 10 mg 2x/day. I'm still toying with the dosage, trying to avoid the jittery feeling and be able to sleep @ night. Don't want to take a pill to wake up and go to sleep. lol. Yesterday, I took the 10mg 2x?day but today I took 10mg in the am and 5mg (cut the pill in half) at 12:30.
Avatar m tn Hi JJ- if you google prednisone and hair loss you will find many interesting links to the topic. It appears that complaints about hair loss are near the top of the list of side effects reported with extended prednisone use..... Something about it changes the hormone levels. the good news is it seems it is not a permanent problem - the hair recovers after the prednisone is stopped.
Avatar n tn ve been reading a whole lot over the weekend and hope to attmept to address my ADD more with diet and less with the drug but I will say adderall has opened my eyes to the possibilities for me.
407790 tn?1397761026 ) I also take Lamictal (200 mg) and Topamax (200 mg), the latter mostly to help me lose the weight I gained on Pristiq (I quit that a month ago and started taking Cymbalta instead.) I also take Adderall because I have narcolepsy. I know, quite a cocktail. I have been on just about every AD there is for the past 20 years. I don't remember exactly when I was officially diagnosed with treatment-resistant depression…a few years ago?
1218509 tn?1267490923 Because I'm on 200mg of Topamax to keep my moods under control my brain has slowed down considerably. My doctor wants to put me on this brand new medication called Vvyanse. It's not avaiable here yet so I have to keep waiting for it. Anyone tried it out?
Avatar f tn Go to sleep with migraine and wake up with one. Since I tried adderall, I can hardly remember those heavy duty migraines! It works great for my hypertensives. But I just moved to a different state, and doctor doesn't believe that adderall can be helping. How can I be tested for ADHD and get the prescription that works for me? Thanks for help.
768044 tn?1294223436 I am currently taking topamax. Before topamax I tried valproic acid and before that I tried amitriptyline. On the topamax my migraines are currently happening still 15+ a month. Hence wanting to try something else too... When I asked my neurologist about the botox, he said that I couldn't mix the topamax and botox treatments. I hadn't heard this before. He said that in the clinical trials, the people who were on a comination of treatments showed worse results.
Avatar n tn I also cut all alcohol out with the exception of the occasional glass of wine with we are out to dinner with friends…. (Mostly so I don’t look like a party pooper) and anything carbonated taste awful. I still had 13 migraines last month, so the neurologist is still trying to get me on the correct dose. But I also have two lesions on my brain from my migraines so what’s one more…..
Avatar n tn what is the effect on depression when combining alcohol with prozac and adderall

Avatar f tn He was very much at the refrigerator with fork in hand and ATE himself to 165+ Lbs.... at 10-11 yr.... so the fat melted like butter with the Topamax.... (I heard Anna Nicole had this in her at her autopsy) and Being a heavy person myself wished I could lose weight like MY GUY was.... the problem was that we thought that the Topamax created anxiety .... he walked down halls like we were taking him down death row..... he began being fearful of community places....
Avatar n tn I know this is NOT the way to deal with these problems, just a quick fix that Im going to have to deal with at some point. My life feels unmanageable, Im embarrassed that my friends know Im tweaking, and I can't tell my family because I would have to tell too much. I want to talk to my doctor about tapering off this drug and reclaiming my life...I want to do it in easiest way possible/start regaining some health right away.
990354 tn?1307132886 I just had a doc appointment today to increase my pristiq (my antidepressant) and was hoping to get on something else to help with my severe adhd. My friend takes adderall and I have taken that before which I found worked awesome for me at helping me focus and what not. However, I am having a hard time getting the doctors to understand my issues. I have been on nine hundred different anti-depressants and nothing really has helped which is why I often relapse back to the opiates.
