topamax

1607573 tn?1297975133 My daughter had to go on preventive meds to stop migraines and we were offered other meds than topamax she is doing well on elavil. See a dr so you have something to keep the migraines away.
1276940 tn?1564515084 Topamax 200 mgs daily......Zoloft 250 mgs daily........Elavil 50 mgs daily. I also take Klonopin PRN & Vistaril PRN. I also have Sjogren's Syndrome (dx 4/22/16) I take Plaquenil 400 mgs daily......Evoxac 90 mgs daily. I have been Bipolar for 14 years, and I have been on a lot of meds. But this current cocktail I have been on for about 3 years now and haven't had a med increase in at least 18 months.
Avatar n tn HR , first thing I would want to know for the doctor is what kind of headaches do you have ..If topamax, imitrex and drugs like elavil are not helping then you probably are not having migraines and its a different type of headache .I have been told by more then one nero doctor if narcotics are making your headaches go away then you don't have migraines .Narcotics do not on migraines . I finally got relief with topamax .After I had had a hyster back in 2005.

1276940 tn?1564515084 I am a soon to be 42 y/o (on 4/17) who is currently undergoing testing for Sjogren's Syndrome. I am sero negative so I will be undergoing a lip biopsy soon. I do have a positive RF tho. My Vit D level way 14 at least testing (Feb 2016) I am on 50,000 IU once a week & 1,000 IU a day. I have this brown skin in between my breasts. In my cleavage. It doesn't itch, or burn or anything really. I have noticed it there for the last 6 months or so and to me, it seems to be getting darker.
Avatar f tn t just one preventative like Topamax and one abortive like Imitrex. My daughter is currently on Topamax 50mg in am and 50 mg in pm, 10 mg of Elavil at bedtime, Phenergan as needed, Percocet as needed, and Maxalt as needed. We still haven't hit the magic combination, but we keep trying, because the alternative is sooo much worse. Good luck.
545693 tn?1214494153 While it is not painful exactly, I know that it is there and I have been told by my gp that it is nerve pain. I am currently on 40mg of Elavil for the nerve pain and I am finding that it is helping. I have tried Neurontin, Topamax, Tegretol and Lyrica with no positive result but I have had positive results with the Elavil. If this gets to be painful I think it would be worth mentioning to your doctor...
1835720 tn?1318281251 i have pain from a craniotomy to sever a damaged vestibular nerve since i have meneires disease and am dizzy and off balance already teh pain treatments such as elavil and nerontin are to hard on me side effect wise ..i have to find something that works the gabapentin stopped the pain but i was lethargic and almost unable to even speak. i am currently on topamax as a preventative .
Avatar n tn I also was suffering from migraines and trouble sleeping, and was started on Topamax for the control of the headaches and Elavil for to help me sleep. One of the side effects of Topamax is tingling in the extremities, so although my headaches did decrease the tingling sensation increased for a while. Then it abated and I was fine for a couple of months, until I started experiencing the tingling again, this time accompanied by numbness and weakness in my arms and legs.
Avatar n tn if no you can ask your physician to give it a try as a preventative like you tried topamax or with a lower dose of topamax .
Avatar n tn Usually drugs like beta-blockers which are given to control hypertension (propranolol [Inderal], atenolol [Tenormin]), anticonvulsants (topiramate [Topamax], divalproex [Depakote], carbamazepine [Tegretol]), tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline [Elavil], nortriptyline [Aventyl]), and calcium channel blockers (verapamil [Covera]) are given. You can take these as preventive medicines . 1276940 tn?1564515084 Topamax (off label for mood swings) 200 mgs daily, Zoloft 250 mgs daily, Elavil 50 mgs at bedtime, Klonopin (PRN) & Vistaril (PRN). I have been on this "cocktail" for about 2 years now. As far as my PRN meds are concerned, I only take them when I absolutely need them. I take the Vistaril first and try to save the Klonopin for bedtime. I am also currently being tested for Sjogren's Syndrome.
1968463 tn?1374757813 I also discussed it with my pharmacist when picking up my Topamax, he had said that he heard that from other people that have been on Topamax. Point being, it could be from the medicine your taking, but if your like me, the medicine is the only thing keeping the headaches at bay. Also, yes I have been anemic my whole life. Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn I'll start from the beginning. I've suffered Insomnia for at least 10 years and have been on either Ambien or Ambien CR ever since. Some nights it works...others not so much. I'll also throw in that I've had a moderate bilateral hand tremor as long as I can remember and no doctor has ever given me a reason for it. OK, moving on. I also developed Migraines about 10 years ago and the solution was to try a parade of instant remedies (Imitrex, Relpax, etd.) of which NONE worked.
Avatar f tn Thanks much for your information--is appreciated. There seems to be more to botox injections than I've realized. One doc I saw three years ago suggested botox, but something told me not to do it, and I passed it by. I think I will talk to some docs and other people first. I just don't know what to do.
Avatar f tn I am a 53 yr old caucasion female. I have been suffering with some type of neuropathy for about 13 yrs. I've had 2 neurologists (because of a move). The first one diagnosed me with CIDP. but my new dr. does not agree because I don't seem to have any signs of weakness in my extremities. My symptoms are feelings similar to what you'd feel when someone scratches their nails down a chalkboard. They started in my left foot and shot up that leg.
Avatar f tn I've had a constant headache which always starts in the back of my head and goes into my left eye. If I squeeze my head between my hands real tight it stops but only as long as my hands are there. It is so bad I can't do anything. I've tried motrin 800mg, topamax 200mg, vicodin 5/500, imitrex, frova and even antidepressants (zoloft and elavil). My doctor can't seem to figure this out and I can't keep dealing with the pain.
Avatar f tn maybe his behaviors are actually siezures??? Doctor has begun to restart the Topamax.... I will gradually bring him back to 100Mg. 2 X day..... He is 12..... we had stopped this topamax because I thought the drug was making him have sever anxiety.... not wanting to walk down hallways or go out to community areas.... use the restroom at the gas station on long trips.... He just behaved like we were making him walk Death row..
Avatar f tn Dr. David Grider, Big Pine Key, FL put me on Topamax. Topamax saved my life! It is/was used for treating Epilepsy/seizures. Researcher's found it seemed to block and "cure" Migrains. Perhaps, it cured me. But God in Heaven, please give me back my memory. I appear unintelligent, ignorant and disinterested in what friends have confided in me-e.i., their expectations that I will retain what may trouble or bring them joy.
