1276940 tn?1564515084 I am a 42 y/o female who has had a tremor in both hands for several years. My tremors are not noticeable unless I have my wrists resting on a counter top or something similar. Then my hand(s) go to shaking. They do not shake while I am doing tedious tasks or are still at my side or in my lap. Just when my wrists are resting. And it happens just about every time! A little background info now......I have Bipolar Disorder, OCD, anxiety (social & generalized) for which I take meds daily.
Avatar n tn As this could be the withdrawl effects of drugs. This is unlikely to be mini seizures, tremors will happen for a while and then go off on its own. Were you on one or multiple drugs for seizures?
Avatar n tn t know which is worse, the terrible back pain or the tremors. The tremors are visible and can really drive you crazy. I consulted w/a Neurosurgeon a couple of years ago and was told there is surgery to correct this, but has limitations, i.e., could have a speech slur afterwards. Please give me some insight into these problems. Thank you.
Avatar m tn topamax 50mg for ulnar nerve pain and cymbalta 30mg which he swtched form my aropax (paxil) which i had taken for 13 yrs without any adverse effects. The side effects were awful from these medications. Agitation , fast heart rate, insomnia and suicidal thoughts ( i thought i was depressed before!). Now it appears that i am left with a permanent tremor in my hands and head. I also get frequent muscle twitching. Its been 4 months and they havn't eased what's the go!!!!

1232362 tn?1333135406 Due to financial issues I haven't been able to fill my topamax script and won't be able to for at least another week. How will this affect me and when I can refill should I just start back up like nothing happened? So far I seem ok.
518001 tn?1212419235 Yes, I take provigil, some days up to 400 mg (the max dose). I've been on it for about 4 years and I couldn't get through the day with out it. Everyone is different so it's hard to say if it would make tremors worse for you or not. I don't have tremors and it does not make me jittery at all. In addition to the amount of provigil I take, i also drink up to 4 cups of regular coffee a day.
Avatar f tn Doc says surgery is up to me for now and not necessary unless I cant handle symptons. They increased my topamax and 2 days later I felt like I was riding a speeding elevator. Anyone else have this effect from an increase?
3144747 tn?1343049136 There are a host of other medications that have shown benefit to patients including primidone, gabapentin/pregabalin, benzodiazepenes, and some anticonvulsant drugs. Topamax is one of these anticonvulsants. Some of the adverse effects associated with topamax include paresthesias (numbness/tingling), somnolence, dizziness, and risk for kidney stones. Weight loss is also a side effect that is commonly seen.
Avatar m tn what mood stasblizer wont cause weight gain if any??? exclude serquil and lithiem and topamax..cant do these already been on them..
428030 tn?1238281498 I too suffer with numbness, tingling, ringing in the ear and internal tremors. My titers for Epstein Barr were very high, all 3 levels. Right now, all I have been told is that I have EBV, low Vitamin D, and possibly some hyperthyroid issues. My neuro has done a full workup for MS. This has been going on since July. I am lost and tired of going from doctor to doctor.
1276940 tn?1564515084 I see my Psych DR in a couple weeks and will let him know about these problems......I have told him about the hand tremors before but I was on Lithium and he thought the tremors were from being on Lithium!! Thanks so much in advance for ANY insight anyone can give as to what might be going on!!
358486 tn?1294776388 my pain specialist saw Me this way last wk gave me topamax and valium, but was totally lost to what was happening!
Avatar f tn She passed out at work from the dizziness and went to the hospital. After 3 days at the hospital, she was sent home with some topamax for her headaches. She was still experiecing severe dizziness to where she could walk on her own. She now uses a walker to move around the house and sometimes not even the walker can help her keep her balance. Two days after being discharged from the hospital and told that there was nothing wrong with but a little stress!, she started having tremors.
Avatar f tn I have back problems and the extra weight was brutal. Soon as as switched to Topamax (which has weight loss side effects) I lost the extra weight plus. Seizure meds are tough. They all have very extreme side effects. I've been on 4 different ones and I found that over time my body would get used of the side effects. Depakote was definately one of the better ones for me. Best of luck to you and your son.
Avatar f tn I have all of my reports since 2002 and no mention of this until 2008 (a report I forgot to get) no one mentioned this to me. I have been having dizziness, headaches, tremors, major fatigue, confussion, out bursts of anger. I was told by neurosurgeon to see neurologist who told me to talk with neurologist! ARGH!!! No insuranse and I can't take any more. I don't understand why I'm getting the run around or it feels like it anyway. I feel so sick I can't stand it.
1276940 tn?1564515084 I am a soon to be 42 y/o (next month) female who has been experiencing tremors in my right hand for quite some time now. I am Bipolar and have been for going on 14 years now. I have been on NUMEROUS meds over the years but my current "cocktail" consists of: Topamax (off label for mood swings) 200 mgs daily, Zoloft 250 mgs daily, Elavil 50 mgs at bedtime, Klonopin (PRN) & Vistaril (PRN). I have been on this "cocktail" for about 2 years now.
Avatar m tn The main side effect is sedation and it can cause allergic reaction in some people. Topamax is another medication used, its main side effect is cognitive slowing (it makes you think sort of slowly) but this improves with time and can be minimized by slowly going up on the dose.
Avatar n tn About 5 1/2 yrs ago I had a MRI done w/o contrast related to visual changes, tremors (especially fine motor tremors with my hands more on right side than left), ringing/buzzing in my ears, and tingling in hand and feet. That MRI showed 4 small lesions to the basal ganglion. My PCP had the MRI reread by one of the top neurosurgeons in central georgia and he advised him to have me see a neorologist immediately that he was positive that this was early MS.
1100598 tn?1413127426 After a concussion last summer, I started getting them almost daily, where I would get blurry vision, tremors in my hands, nausea, difficulty speaking, pain in the left temple, and falling. My doctor started me on Topamax, 100mg, which has helped with the symptoms, although I still fall occassionally. She was able to rule out epilepsy. I was wondering if anyone else has these symptoms when they have a migraine?
Avatar m tn Hello I was decompressed 2/2010 with complete success expect head aches witch I have since figured out are due to stress my nero put me on topamax for the headaches the topamax has changed me so much it has completely ruined my life.....
Avatar f tn I have many symptoms including constant headache, dizziness, extreme vertigo when lying down, bilateral arm weakness, hand tremors, blurred vision, feeling of fullness in my head, fatigue, photophobia, sensitivity to loud noises, increased sensitivity to touch, neck pain and spasms, ringing in the ears and urinary frequency. I've had migraines for years and a few of the other symptoms as well and they have just become so acute and that is why I sought out seeing a neurologist.
Avatar f tn Ok, So that was in the year 2005 I had my MRI and the results said I was 5mm, but safe within the guidlines. My doctor wanted to put me through physical therapy once a week and try me out on topamax to try and prevent my migraines from coming on. Long story short....I didn't do the therapy, didn't take the topamax and ended changing jobs so I lost my health insurance for almost 2 years now. The only medication that I do take is Imitrex.
Avatar f tn I have suffered from migraines since my late 20's. I am now 49. I have tried any and every migrained med, some work, some don't. My doctor has just suggested topamax. Has anyone taken this? Does it work? I am also hypothyroid and take 200mcg of synthroid, will there be issues taking these two meds together? I read that one of the side effects of topamax is weight loss. This I wouldnt mind as Ive put on weight due to my hypothyroid. But, the biggest thing would not have these headaches.
358486 tn?1294776388 Does anyone else here take Topamax for the intense spasms and jerking? If so PLZ reply and let me know if it helps?...how it affects U? If u have any better med suggestions for the intense jerking? I really need all the suggestions possible b4 I go back to the doc. Appreciate ur time....
Avatar m tn I was on 50 mg topamax at bedtime and have recently decided to stop (per dr.)I was only on it for 10 days, but had terrible side effects. Since stopping the MEDs. the side effects are crazy! I feel all of this anxiety and I cannot sleep, I have bizarre thoughts and zero appetite. This has been going on since I stopped 2 days ago. Anyone else experience this and more importantly how many days til I feel better???
424862 tn?1203803456 I have recently been diagnosed with basilar migraine and told to try Topamax, which I have to take over a period of months. We were hoping to have children soon, and were told I couldnt get pregnant while on this drug. What happens if we want to start trying for a baby, do I come off Topamax, and the symptoms come back? Or do I stay on it and not try for a baby for a long time???
