topamax

Avatar f tn I have been prescribed Topamax. Have you heard of the med call Topamax? Thanks.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribes me loritab 10 and topamax. I have not started the topamax because he says that I have to take it everday for the rest of my life and stopping it quickly can cause anurisms. The headaches are more severe and come on very quickly now. Should I be concerned?
Avatar n tn When already taking Topamax, how long (months) do you need to cycle off before going back on to experience weight loss again? I am on Topamax 150 a day for migraine but it's the botox injections that help me. I lost 10lbs in the first 3 or so months on it and 5 more gradually but it plateaued. I've probably been on for a year or two. I read the weight loss is in the first 3 mainly and then stops after a year. I would taper off/back on of course.
424862 tn?1203803456 Topomax have helped many of my co-workers and a family member to aliviate or stop migraines. Thats why i tried it my self. but it didnt work for me. Dealing with migraines has left me exposed to try anything. But be aware of the side effects and look out for them some of the meds i have tried actually (2) had strong side effects that I called my doctor the next morning to give my something else. good luck i hope it works!!
214901 tn?1227567555 Okay, so has anyone that has been Rx'd Topamax for headaches, actually gotten crushing headaches about 1-2 hours after taking it? I am trying hard to wait it out and work through my dosage increases but this is just insane! Thanks!
Avatar n tn I suffer from chronic daily headaches and take upwards of 12 or more fioricet a day as well as topamax and effexor for prevention of migraines. Since my doctor will only prescribe up to 6 fioricet per day, I have resorted to orderly brand fioricet online as $200 for 90 tablets. My questions are how to detox at home off fioricet - should I take 12 tabs, then 11 the next day, then 10 the next day or what? Also, is it illegal to get fioricet from my doctor as well as ordering online?
Avatar m tn I've had chronic migraines for 39 years. I've tried every medication out there. All triptans, Aimovig, Emgality, Ajovy, Trokendi, Topamax, Ubrelvy, Nurtec, Advil doesn't work, icing my head doesn't work, a hot shower doesn't work. You name it, I've done it. Pressure points don't work. I've been taking Fioricet daily for probably 6 months. Started innocently of course. I understand the Fioricet is causing my daily migraines and I need to taper off.
429209 tn?1224166589 but i am sure he knows what he is doing and if u follow his taper u should be fine..i know ativan is a slow taper...i had never heard of buspar withdrawal before....
Avatar m tn I started on 40mg of prednisone a day in the beginning of January. Then was put on Topamax about five weeks ago. At that point, my hair started falling out three times more than before. I'm talking my hands are covered every time I wash it, plus there is hair all over the bathroom floor, counter top, etc., by the time I'm done in there. It's getting really, really thing. I've been off the Topamax for two weeks almost, and it's still falling out heavily.
559058 tn?1215810834 I've been on Topamax for a while now and it's having a devastating effect on my memory. How can I taper it off? I'd like to do it as soon as I can... Thanks!
8590589 tn?1398849474 Can u take topamax for weightloss while on a methadone maintence program? Is it safe? Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with the two together?
Avatar f tn I have suffered from migraines since my late 20's. I am now 49. I have tried any and every migrained med, some work, some don't. My doctor has just suggested topamax. Has anyone taken this? Does it work? I am also hypothyroid and take 200mcg of synthroid, will there be issues taking these two meds together? I read that one of the side effects of topamax is weight loss. This I wouldnt mind as Ive put on weight due to my hypothyroid. But, the biggest thing would not have these headaches.
Avatar f tn The only thing she said was that she had never heard of Topamax causing palinopsia before. Was it ever determined that the Topamax was behind your visual disturbances?
Avatar f tn He is starting to taper off on Monday. This doctor prescribed Topamax 100mg, Seroquel 100mg, and Depakote 500mg. My question is... After being on these for 4 days he is a zombie! He is really sleepy and his speech is so slurred that I have a hard time understanding him. He is also really unsteady on his feet. He has fallen twice tonight just going to the bathroom. And it not even 3 feet away from the bed.
Avatar m tn After much research it seems my only options are do nothing or surgery. My Neurologist has had me try topamax in the past but the side effects were horrifying. She now wants me to try Diamox. Any relief with this drug?? I am so afraid of taking any other drugs after the topamax. Side effects or any info would be much appreciated. I will meet with a NS next week to discuss the surgery. I fear the surgery will be too much for my family as I have 2 young children.
Avatar f tn Everybody is different and responds to medication differently. The best and most all-around useful mood stabilizer for me has been Topamax. It is an anti-convulsant, also indicated for propylaxis of migraines (which I also have). The great side effect, if you're overweight, is WEIGHT LOSS. Be careful, though. I've lost 54 lb. in 10 months; now underweight and have continued to lose, in spite of attempts to gain.
Avatar n tn i would advise against cold turkey unless you want a world of pain.. for long term sub use, a long, slow taper is the best. Look at the "Health PAges" on the upper right and there are a lot of articles on Sub and tapering off... on the dose you are on, not adviseable to go cold turkey but slowly taper down. We can't offer specific tapers, best to use a doctor which is what i did... and yes, there are things to take with w/d symptoms which are also found in the Health Pages.
Avatar f tn I have been on 100mg of Topamax for almost a month (the 22nd of this month) for cluster headaches and have had a variety of side effects. I take 50mg in the morning and 50mg at night. I thought I was going to lose my mind honestly. But I was told that the side effects would taper off more than likely. Which the vast majority have. I no longer feel dumber than a rock (I wasn't even able to compose an email without reading it very slowly 4-5 times before sending it). And I feel pretty normal.
Avatar f tn well I have not experienced that since starting the topamax, but have had the issue as a result of chiari b4 surgery and have had it occasionally since... I wish I could tell u more, I am just too new to the med myself and the fact we all will respond differently...
Avatar n tn Ask your physician if it is possible to stop the medications and give you something else.Importantly, do not stop or taper the dose of topamax without informing your doctor. If you know a pharmacist in the area , he/she may guide you on what questions to ask and on what to expect given your medications. Do keep us posted regarding your physician's advice.
Avatar m tn Lyrica is still one of the newer ones but works really well. I take Topamax and Lyrica. I take Topamax for headaches and Lyrica for neuropathic pain. My pain is well controlled but they do have their side effects.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Hi, Well I got my migraine variant when I was 23 and it took them 8 years to diagnose me because I would not get a migraine headache or aura but would get throwing up and abdominal pain when I went to bed. I finally found a doctor that said I had a migriane variant and he did an EEG which was abnormal for a migraine/seizure pattern. They can't differentiate it because it was just high signal. I was put on Clonozepam and I am now 50 and haven't had the vomiting /abdominal pain since.
975514 tn?1324997938 t deal with the weight gain, bloat, and tiredness/laziness that it caused in me. Topamax which is used for severe Epilepsy and Migraines works just as well for Fibromyalgia and Neuropathic pain as Lyrica I have found. There are a couple of key things to note with the drug however: First, you must be titrated slowly (no more than 25mg per week increases) because of side effects like nervousness and insomnia, hand and foot tingling and loss of appetite.
358486 tn?1294776388 Does anyone else here take Topamax for the intense spasms and jerking? If so PLZ reply and let me know if it helps?...how it affects U?
